  1. The thread wouldn’t give in so easily.
  2. "I am a thread," the thread stated firmly.
  3. I had something written here but I erased it as soon as ChickenLiberty replied. It was mere speculation, seeing as I didn't know. As for Nightblood, I think Zahel/Vasher came to Roshar with Nightblood/sword-nimi (for whatever reason) and I think Brandon has said that they had a "falling out." Vivenna/Azure followed, which is why she keeps mentioned she is looking for somebody, who was Vasher. Also I was looking through Oathbringer and noticed the part where Azure is doing the kata which she says she learned from her swordmaster (Vasher), and Adolin is doing it too, and he says he learned it from his swordmaster (Vasher in disguise) and Kaladin joins in, maybe because he too learned it from his swordmaster (also Vasher in disguise).
  4. Well said, I wasn't aware of those WoB, thanks! Plus, it would probably be a little overpowered. Interesting theory, I can't discount it though I'm not entirely on board with it. I do think Brandon has said we would learn more about Ryshadium in future books, maybe for a reason similar to this. I do think Stormlight efficiency and mastery of Surges would be a part of it, but I do believe we're missing something, as this is Brandon Sanderson. There's always another secret. Now, one thing I notice about the epigraph I quoted was that it spoke of the manifestations of spren. Slightly before Kaladin swears the Second Ideal, we see Syl can appear as a full-sized lady in the Physical Realm. After Kaladin swears the Third Ideal, Syl can appear as a Shard-whatever. I believe we could theorize better when we understand the Fourth Ideal better, however, all we know is that a certain Windrunner in swearing the Fourth Ideal would "earn his armor." I doubt the bonded spren would be manifesting as armors, if the Knights Radiant had both Plate and Blade, but it could fit in with the lesser spren theory, with the lesser spren's manifestations growing stronger via Plate. I believe the Fifth Ideal will be when spren manifest the strongest, but I can't quite figure out in what way.

  6. But it came to life again when it was italicized.
  7. @Ookla the Wine Shelf Wish...?
  8. Very, very nice. I like the art style.
  9. I got Kelsier! Yes! Nice quiz, @ParchmentMagic! The cosmere quiz industry needs more hardworking people who are willing to put in the effort, like you.
  10. This has indeed been confirmed, cool you figured it out yourself. WoB:
  11. Nice theory. Can't exactly disprove it except I might say knowing that Taln, exemplifying the Stonewards to the highest degree, would probably be to stubborn to change orders I can see that happening as you put it, however.
  12. I've been thinking a lot lately about what one might get at the Fifth Ideal. I am drawn to an excerpt from the following epigraph from Words of Radiance: "...for though the bond between man and spren was at times inexplicable, the ability for bonded spren to manifest in our world rather than their own grew stronger through the course of the oaths given." Words of Radiance, chapter 35, page 9. So the ability for spren to manifest in the Physical Realm grows stronger the more oaths that are given. I suspect this is why after the Third Ideal, spren can become Shardblades/spears/forks. Another epigraph mentions achieving the Fourth Ideal in association with "earning my armor," and there is obviously some mystery still around that. But what of the Fifth Ideal? If the Third is some sort of weapon, and assuming the Fourth is some armor, then what could the Fifth be? I welcome theories. The only theory I have is that the Fifth Ideal could be a Dawnshard (...whatever that is). It would make sense, then, with how Surges and Dawnshards are related with the destruction of... you know. Just an idea, if you have evidence to the contrary, please share. Also if I'm blatantly on the wrong track with any of this here, also please share.
  13. Ah, but you see, none of that does any good if a thunderclast could still smash you flat! In all seriousness though, very good points. I guess Odium's army just got lucky. The question then, should be not how does one kill a Herald, but how did so many of them die so often? They seemed surprised that only Taln had died, and mention that it was not uncommon for most of them to die.
  14. Granted, but the 17th Shard is not happy and kicks you out of their worldhopping group. I wish for knowledge of the Cosmere and confirmation of my theories.
  15. I’m starting to think that are Herald just died in completely normal ways, regardless of their access to Investiture. Maybe they were just killed too fast to instantly heal, I don’t know. I think they could just get smashed by a thunderclast or overwhelmed by an army. In the prelude to the Stormlight Archive, we see Karak recalling dying at the hands of a thunderclast in the past, and Taln died defending some passage, probably against an army. I personally think they just... died. But, then, what good is all that Investiture if a thunderclast could still smash you flat?
  16. Granted, but they just stand up again immediately after, alive and angry. I wish to become an aspect of Stephen Leeds.
  17. Hello, welcome to the Shard! I, too, have been investigating Adonalsium and other Cosmere mysteries recently. I feel in over my head with it all and it's pretty fascinating stuff. Do you have a favorite Sanderson book or character?
  18. Sword: Splinter Shards Glove: Steal Investiture
  19. Granted, though the rest of the world is given an overpowering aversion to virtual reality mass multi-player online game, and you and your technology are exiled because of it. I wish for three more wishes.
  20. Which disturbingly disturbed the balance of the way of things.
  21. I actually ranked my favorite characters just a few days ago. Here goes: Kaladin. Of course Kaladin was going to be number one, because just like @Honorless, he is what drew me in in the first place and the character I care about most. I love his character arc, from surgeon to soldier to leader to savior to slave to bridgeman to hero to captain to Knight Radiant. And he’s not done yet. But his (nonexistent) overall happiness makes me sad. Dalinar. This dude has been through a lot but has, I think, come the farthest spiritually, thanks to the help of the Nightwatcher. At first I found his parts and presence in The Way of Kings somewhat boring, but I have grown to respect this man greatly. Lift. Yeah, yeah, sorry Shallan, you're not all bad. But I never know what to expect from Lift, only that it will be unexpected. I find her unique abilities entertaining and her unique take on her unique abilities equally entertaining.
  22. Speaking of eras... what books define each era? How many mistborn books are there if there are 4 eras?
  23. Thanks for explaining it, else I never would have gotten it haha. Yeah, sure, I'm fine with that.
  24. And her stomach began to rebel angrily, somehow attracting angerspren.
