  1. Welcome to the shard! Being wordy is something we are big fans of here!! ...I wonder if it has anything to do with who our favorite author is? Nah... couldn't be because Brandon writes like 200,000 words a year or anything... That was a fantastic Cryptic impersonation btw!!
  2. I love it! That would be perfect for him!
  3. Ahh, yes. That makes sense. ...But now that I think of it we actually haven't heard much from any of those spren have we? The most is from Ivory (Jasnah's Spren) and he's very unclear about many things when he references them. I feel like there is a lot that the spren know which we the readers are ignorant of.
  4. Ambition is great for him and makes more sense from a story perspective... but I really feel like Autonomy would fit him better! ...or both Ambition and Autonomy
  5. okay, that makes sense... but am I remembering their insane power level wrong or is it an affect of multiple spikes? Vin's earring made her better at seeking. perhaps two spikes could make an inquisitor more powerful than one? I feel like there is a better explanation than "Ruin did it." but I suppose that's exactly what Preservation did to Vin with the mists so....
  6. I think at that point marsh had duraluminum too, so its possible he used that as well? Been awhile since I've read Era 1 but I remember inquisitors having incredibly strong alomancy.
  7. I think all of this is possible, the size factor might be a soft limit of some kind but I imagine an Iron feruchemist could load a sword or even bigger objects up, given enough time. I have a feeling we will see some interesting use cases for this in Era 3. Possibly even in the upcoming era 2 book. Feruchemical bullets sound like a neat trick to get a good shot of at a certain main character who is adept at pushing them away
  8. Weren't most of the spren we've seen or heard discussions with created/born post recreance? It's quite possible none of them knew of a time like that? It could totally just be Odium/Voidspren though.
  9. A Fused Dalinar that keeps his radiant bond would be a wild thing
  10. Hear me out.... What if it's a singer or a fused talking to the Stormfather? "The day was ours but they took it. Stormfather! YOU cannot have it." It really seems like they are yelling at the Stormfather, saying that they dont want him to take their victory from them. In this case it would reference an expected victory by the fused that ended with the Stormfather being involved in their defeat somehow... that or the Stormfather switching sides or messing up the victory for the Radiant somehow? I find that last bit unlikely though.
  11. Sure, but Brandon would totally kill the storm in this way if it meant the Stormfather were doing something better for the world... If "the choice of Honor is Life" is truly tied to the Stormfather stopping the storm in some fashion as @LewsTherinTelescope suggests here... what if his choice is to give a large amount of the shard of honor over to "Life" aka Cultivation? It could explain why she directly interacted with Dalinar using the Old Magic and might be an interesting direction to go with for keeping Todium in check... Storms, now you've got me thinking of what kind of names an Honor/Cultivation shard would have...
  12. Right, but they are not simply "hate" or "destruction" are they? Odium is specifically defined as hatred toward someone because of their actions... It's wrath a la "The Wrath of God". It's not pure Hatred, but hatred with purpose, one that would be directed better if aligned with its 15 counterpart intents. Ruin is typically paired with definitions that refer more closely to decay and collapse than outright destruction... (though it definitely has that as an aspect as well) I think there is more of a case for destruction to be a godly attribute though, because either way it serves the purpose of perpetuating change. The problems I find with the Cruelty and Cowardice intents is that they are typically purposeless... cowardice is an overextension of fear... where fear can be good or bad, cowardice is always bad. The same goes, I think for Cruelty... Cruelty is just bad... something like Judgement or Punishment have less negative connotations. Besides the two Shard speculations though... I really like the direction you take with your Dawnshard groupings. Putting Preservation in the "Change" category is a great idea imho.
  13. I like the direction you are going with this grouping but I don't think of "Cowardice" or "Cruelty" as divine attributes... which is what the Shards are. Based on the way you are grouping the two alone... Cruelty's place could be taken by something like "Punishment" or "Justice" much better. As for Cowardice, maybe just "Fear"? I could see Fear being described by Brandon as a "Divine" attribute. Fear is both smart and useful. Cowardice, by definition, isn't.
  14. I think Urithiru is entirely equipped to become a space station. This is total speculation on my part... The only factual thing which I have in regards to Urithiru's potential for becoming a spaceship is the fact that we know it has some sort of air-pressurization capability (characters have mentioned the difference in the air thickness/quality outside the tower compared to inside on a number of occasions) As for the more speculative bit... I think Ishar's experimentation on spren is an attempt to make them capable of leaving Roshar... (in order to get himself off the planet) and that gives me reason to believe that the Sibling's more physical manifestation as the tower may grant them the ability to travel off-world without anyone ever realizing it. Any other thoughts about this?? If there are more tidbits that point in this direction which anyone has noticed I would love to hear them!!
  15. This. It's a really important distinction and I think it's going to play into how Todium acts in book 5. From everything we've seen, the shift from practically ignoring intent to being constrained by it happens at an almost exponential rate, I wouldnt be surprised (if book 5 takes place over a longer period of time than 10 days) if Todium's big flaw is his lack of awareness that he will become more constrained by the power's intent as things progress.
  16. I’m rereading Words if Radiance and something stuck out to me... on their way out to the center of the shattered plains, Pattern tells Shallan how he thinks creation spren are useless... he says something along the lines of “all spren have a purpose... but they don’t do anything, they just float around and watch another’s purpose” It’s almost definite that creation spren are the lightweavers plate spren now... but I find it curious that pattern... and I’m assuming, other cryptics, have this animosity toward creation spren when it seems like they work closely together in the radiant bond process. Also... going on a bit of a tangent here but... wtf Pattern?! “All spren have a purpose?! What purpose?! If, to Pattern, creation spren don’t seem to have a purpose but all other spren do... what exactly is it that all the other spren are doing?!? Thoughts on either of these things? Patterns statement is very... cryptic.
  17. Besides the fact that Sanderson is on record saying the Cosmere wont connect in any way to Earth or our universe, he has also mentioned that his dialogue is written as approximate translations of the native languages of the world the series takes place on... so it can be assumed that Hoid's use of "cents" is the word closest to translating from whatever language Hoid is actually using into our earthly English.
  18. This is exactly the lines I was thinking along. I'm doing a reread and it just feels like its going in that direction. Idk how to explain it but the connections between SA's magic systems feel very ingrained within the history of Roshar.
  19. Okay so I had a thought about how complex Roshar’s magic is in comparison to every other cosmere magic system we’ve been exposed too... and I started to realize that it’s because Roshar’s magic is not a singular planetary magic system... but rather, it’s a planet with natural magic systems (the singers and their forms, old magic, fabrials) dealing with an invasive species of a magic system (surgebinding) which seems to have come from Ashyn... now... call me crazy... but this seems like it could be some foreshadowing for future cosmere stuff. We might see the total transformation and/or mixing of magic systems in very strange and interesting ways... but we may also see the total decimation of others for similar reasons, where they just can’t stand up to other Magic’s and therefore need to be altered or expanded upon by their shards. thoughts?
  20. I am sorry, I cannot. This seems especially possible considering the whole romance scene in RoW.
  21. I've always thought he'd become a herald. The cognitive shadow element of this fits nicely with becoming a Herald IMHO
  22. Well, we get our first glimpse of someone moving on in RoW with Eshonai's flashback at the end... I found that to be very similar to Kelsier's experience with dying. I think it would track similarly in other aspects too.
  23. What we know is that Harmony coming into existence (the Catasandre) would have happened approximately 300 Scadrian years before the 5th book of The Stormlight Archive. (We know the 300 years because Mistborn Era 2 is placed between the first 5 SA books and the back 5, and it takes place 300 years after HoA) Rosharan Years are slightly longer than Scadrian years if I'm not mistaken... so its a rough guess... but that probably puts Harmony's creation at around the year 900 on Roshar; Roughly 1700 years after the recreance. Here's a very detailed Stormlight Timeline for reference:
  24. No. ...but it's entirely possible that abilities with language (which are almost certainly connection-based) are different depending on the type of spren/order that is involved. Honor spren, the spren which we get the most face-time with, alongside Bondsmith spren are the most likely to have some Connection ability for languages... those that lean more towards Cultivation and less toward Honor (Cryptics) might not have that same ability. Also, spren are very old. It's not impossible that they make being multilingual a habit, like the sane fused and the Heralds seem to as well.
  25. If I have the where-with-all to accomplish something like that after rereading the first 3 I'll try and do that. (Though I honestly hope someone beats me to it )
