  1. Basically, I'm playing with a bunch of noobs. My brother and I have played D&D for years now, but our friends are less experienced - and to be completely honest, I'm okay with that. There are a lot of flaws and holes in the D&D system that kinda just don't work. Also I suck at running planned campaigns. I've tried in the past and it's always gone horribly. The problem is that my ideas are always way too specific and hardwired into my Autism/ADHD 5000 Neural Network (brain), but trying to portray these ideas is a lot more difficult than coming up with them. My solution? BS it. BS everything. Come up with a few ideas and just roll with it. Experienced DMs will tell you not to make stuff up as you go along, as experienced players will catch on quick and realize that they're not really playing for anything important - but we're not paying attention to our D&D games. Last session we got about half an hour of walking in before it devolved into Clash of Clans and watching Lord of the Rings. Our games are not organized, our games are not professional, and our games are not planned. And honestly? I have way more fun just coming up with random stuff on the fly. They roll an 18 for Investigating the kitchen? They find the legendary Apron of Cooking. Search the back wall for secrets? There's a room with a dwarven vending machine in it. Whether they antagonize a nest of birds with their grappling hook or set an entire library on fire, as long as they're the ones coming up with the hijinks, then it's only up to me to just come up with a funny way of explaining the situation. But I still have ideas that I want to implement - I just don't necessarily plan the how. There's pretty much just a little list of random thoughts I have, and if they do something weird then I'll just drop one in there for them to mess around with for awhile. Basically, imma record some of these random mini-mechanics that I've added. Think of them what you will. Random Stat Shenanigans: Weird Lore Stuff that'll Probably Show Up Later: Weird Lore Stuff that will Also Probably Show Up Later but in a Less Important Manner: that's it for now bye

  3. For those of you not in the know:

0.9999999… is equal to 1. exactly.

if that seems wrong, recall that 0.333333… is equal to exactly 1/3, meaning 0.33333..*3 = 3/3, and therefore 1

still don’t believe me? 0.3333… is also equal to 3/9. Funnily enough, putting any of these lads over 9 will make it repeat in decimal form. 2/9 is 0.22222…; 7/9 is 0.7777777… so 9/9 is equal to 0.999999… as well as 1.

if you think that’s stupid, then you’d be right. But it’s not math’s fault; it’s society’s. The only reason our fractions have repeating decimals the way they do is because we use Base-10; if we did Base-12 instead, for example, 1/3 would be equal to 0.40 instead.

Yeah it would be hard for the people who know decimal but if you only knew Hexadecimal it would be way easier

This is kinda like limits isn’t it

      Just started calc :p.

I guess it could be approached as a limit. There are a number of proofs and explanations.

  4. Climbed a tree! There was a hawk in there earlier, so I was going to see if it had a nest

    answer: they do!

or, at least, I assume they do. After all, there was a very dead and very eaten bird inside.

Yikes. That’s both cool and gross at the same time.

I used to go on this one hike a lot that the hawks would glide over in a big swarm, it was really cool!

  5. "It pretty much has to touch whatever you're affecting. There's a level of recognized intent behind activating the magic itself that allows for little errors like that."
  6. "It's just whatever's in the circle, for the most part. There are nuances to it."
  7. Well well

    ...

...I can't think of anything. HAPS BIRTH, BOOKIE!

  8. I now have to search for a place to read the Dragon Ball manga for a fourth time - the first was claimed and blocked, the second lost its image quality after awhile, and the third has suddenly swapped to DBZ for some reason.

    *sigh*

False alarm: apparently there were just a couple chapters where someone did a stupid. I only had a go through a couple awful-quality segments somewhere else before I came back to it

  9. "With enough work, I guess. It's tough to Link fluids if you don't know what you're doing. I could also try to use whatever this Fourth stuff is as a variable, which is probably what Beorin plans on doing. Either way, it'd be a lot of calculations."
  10. "Our friend, yeah?" Ayia put on her brave smile: one her best friend in the entire world had taught her ages ago. "That's all I care about."
  11. "I have Linked these objects - that's the basis of Alchemy. By using more complex equations I can generate more complex relationships, and so forth." Ayia caught her gaze. "You good, homie?"
  12. "So now..." She lifted the hat - and simultaneously, the picture frame and paperweight hovered into the air.
  13. "Okay, and..." She glanced around, then just took off her hat. "Right. So..." Ayia scribbled a circle onto the tabletop, jotting several runes into smaller circles within: four, total. She placed the paperweight in one, the picture frame in another, and the hat in the third. Connecting the inner circles with a series of lines and preparing several runes, she wrote a simple equation. It was in a mysterious language, but basically translated to: {Paperweight} + {Picture Frame} + {Hat} = {Paperweight + Picture Frame + Hat}
  14. "Oh. Right." She took it, writing directly onto the table without any paper or parchment available. "Can you guys grab me some... stuff? Just whatever."
  15. "No, I... blast." She crossed her arms. "I just need a pen."
  16. "...The native magic system used by the Beorin empire goes by a million names." She looked around for a pen and paper, but couldn't find any. "I call it Alchemy, but that kind of overlaps with way too many other magic systems... well. "Basically, math."
  17. "Then I doubt it'll take them long to figure out Perception."
  18. "That knife of yours uses the same magic as you, right?"
  19. "Not steal. Acquire."
  20. "Most likely? Either to get firsthand sources on your powers, or to use you directly."
  21. "What this Admiral wants," Ayia decided, "is to use us directly."
  22. "Oh, there are plenty of eldritch horrors throughout the universes that Beorin's conquered. They're probably just unrelated to yours."
