    "You can try to help, at least." Vance gestured for Antin to sit. "What we're trying to do is find the right resonancy for this particular layer dimension."

    Vance looked around a little, then sat down into his meditation stance. "Pretty sure this is going to be a trial-and-error sort of thing."

    "Didn't feel like it."

    "It's quite possible. Probably." Vance stepped towards the center of the room. "What we're going to have to do, it seems, is layer this pocket dimension over this room ourselves."

    "Yeah, but it's a little more complicated than that. As I understand it, lynchpins don't really show through much on this side."

    "Any educated guesses?"

    "Good question," Vance said, "'cause I've never actually done this before."

    "More. Significantly so."

    "Exactly!" Vance looked around. "Which means that now we have to find another lynchpin; but this time we're trying to get in, not out."

    "Certainly. Now, if you were a witch with the ability to do everything you've seen thus far, where do you think you'd hide a treasure?"

    Vance pointed at him. "Bingo."

    "Well yeah, but then there's folks like us who can disarm them. So how do you stop folks like us?"

    "Think about it. This place is littered with traps, so that's obviously not how you keep people away from things."

    "The opposite, actually," Vance replied.

    Vance looked back at Antin. "Who keeps their storage on the second floor?"

    "No, don't bother."

    It was full of boxes. Tons. Practically stacked wall-to-wall. Vance blinked. "Huh."
