    "Oh, always. Neither of us ever really stop." He started scratching out some of the simpler traps, deactivating them like Quest had shown him. "You have any family?"

    "If all else fails, I'm willing to go running down the hall full-force and hope I dodge most of it." Vance examined the deactivated rune. "My sister has an ability that'd be pretty useful for this situation. Man, I wish she were here..."

    Vance let out a big sigh. "I guess one mystery isn't enough. No shot we figure out your whole thing with just a couple days of experimentation. For now..." He waved at all the traps. "Let's see what you can do against these."

    "Then..." Vance cocked his head. "Then evidently your body is absorbing most of this energy and using it directly as life force. It's not energy leakage: it's a dependency."

    Vance thought about that. "Well, a power like that is probably far from airtight. The energy you absorb almost definitely leaks out over time." He tapped his chin. "Although... I've never sensed anything from you, which would be weird considering that."

    "So... you're absorbing magical energy, not cancelling it?"

    "I suppose so." Vance stood a little ways behind Antin, letting him do his... thing. "How does your not-magic work anyways?"

    "Sure. Partner's fine." Vance followed him up, glancing over the walls and bannisters.

    Ruby, sapphire, topaz, diamond, opal; all pretty rare. A reminder that it won't be like Quartz: 1, Jade: 10, Ruby: 100. The likes of corundum and diamond are going to be leagues above the likes of citrine.

    Uh... yeah, you can. But whatever. Quartz, amethyst, citrine, garnet, agate, peridot, jade, turquoise; all those are decently common.

    Crystals aren't any more useful than gold...

    I think it could be cool to make coins by carving them out of crystals (quartz, micah, etc.)

    Good question, especially since every archipelago probably created their own before expansion brought the world together
