Elend didn't have to burn Pewter for long, the scene cut short when Vin realizes he's an Alomantico. She just needed to give him more pewter. Not sure if Ettmetal works by affecting an entire area with a Feruchemical effect. After all, it would be much more practical to wear this than weight medallions. I imagine Feruchemical and Allomancy internal metals record the identity of the user who charged the prime box and only affects him.

Maybe those of the past really were worse (and black). In Alendi's time there was a Black Lake, too. Perhaps the creation of the Pits of Hathsin was to condense this power of Ruin Perpendicularity and prevent it from being used to make the Mists (even more) worse.

Correction: Era 3 (1980 vibes) will come out after SA Era 1. What will come out after SA Era 2 is Dragonsteel, and then Mistborn 4 (Sci-Fi).
