Welcome aboard!

Apparently Odium tries to regulate his Light, you need to sing the Song of Prayer in order to store Voidlight. Humans aren't good at hearing the Rhythms so they haven't been able to capture Voidlight.

Dasak's presentation and Ishar's army or Tukar's army
Honorless replied to Dasak's topic in Stormlight Archive
Welcome to the Shard! Don't worry about your English. With how mad Ishar is, I doubt he was researching a way to improve humanity's condition with his experiments. He was described as a mad scientist type of guy, even before he went mad, even before he became a Herald. He found a way to make Cognitive entities Physical when they're not supposed to be. He well and truly has no limits on playing with Connection, he can effectively mess with Identity as well as Connection, as spren are not Physical beings and should not have Physical bodies. He can siphon Investiture, steal any Connections... Just ugh. Well, while it could be random experiments by a crazy, unethical scientist, if he does have a goal in mind for these, I can't see what they might be. He doesn't seem to be looking for a way to kill spren, from his logs.- 16 replies

Question about Dalinar creating Kaladin's vision
Honorless replied to travisperro's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Spiritweb will eventually dissolve into the Spiritual Realm but it will hang around as long it still has Connections. Tien is pretty strongly Connected to Kaladin. Basically, a part of a person's Spiritweb will hang around as long as they are remembered. What goes into the Beyond (either non-existence or an afterlife, it's up to the reader's interpretation and personal belief) is the person's mind or Cognitive self. And the Physical self is the body. We already know what happens to that. -
I don't think Whimsy is so... Sheogorath. They gave me the impression of being carefree and innocent. Hmm... Vax?

Ah yes, Bondsmith unchained, also known as freeform Hemalurgy. This is too fricking hax!

theory Lights, Intents and physics
Honorless replied to KandraAllomancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Ruin and Preservation could be each other's anti-Investiture, though do note that Brandon said not every Shard has such clear-cut opposites, which would be interesting as that might imply the possibility of anti-Shards. Ruin and Preservation's Investiture repelled one another (Hemalurgic spikes and the Mists) and even destroyed one another upon contact (like Raboniel wished Stormlight and Voidlight did, that is how Vin did what she did at the end of Hero of Ages) but I don't know, the two also mixed together and ultimately come from the same source. Okay, maybe coming from the same source isn't a strong argument against them being each other's anti-Investiture with how little we know of Adonalsium's nature but the joining of the two as Harmony, actually mixing together the two Shards as per WoB, definitely is. I think the two Shards' Rhythms are close to each other's anti-Rhythms.- 47 replies

We don't know which side Mercy fought on but either way it sounded like they joined the conflict after Ambition fled Threnody. So either Ambition fled to them or they were in cahoots with Odium to blindside Ambition. That also reminds me of these WoBs: I had thought Ambition tried to flee the entire Cosmere...

Ruin and Preservation's Pulses / Rhythms / Tones are probably close to one another's antithesis but they're probably not true anti of each other.
-
I was wondering about Nightblood too, and whether he might be anti-Endowment or anti-Ruin or pure anti-Investiture or something

From Mraize's end, I thought he was just fishing for how much she knew and what her source of information was, which she provided.

We, as readers, notice the name Thaidakar. It's more difficult to remember names when you're hearing them and when you have no idea who the name refers to. Shallan just has a good memory.

What would the sibling be like if [REDACTED]
Honorless replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You mean the Sibling's form if they didn't manifest themselves as Urithiru? That is their body, Physically and Cognitively... spren can often change into a variety of shapes, maybe they'll be formless by default, with the ability to take on whatever form they wanted. -
Oh I didn't even start speculating on that. Like, who would even be Dalinar's champion? Dalinar himself like he intended to? Kaladin (I know what Kal & Dal said but come on, it's Kaladin, the big hero™), Szeth (Nightblood, it is his book) And with the Taravangian twist, I got really blindsided and didn't even think about Odium's champion. Huh, I remember back in OB, Odium's champion was shown with nine shadows. If it is a new character, they'll have to be really impressive but the sheer weight given to them requires them to be someone we know. I mean, this isn't an anime, it's Brandon. It probably won't be a new character with an impressive powerset but an old one with narrative weight with powers that were foreshadowed... and I can't think of anyone who fits the bill. Maybe Moash, if Dalinar chooses Kaladin (which they both don't want), maybe someone did survive Rathalas against Dalinar? I don't know...

Moash's arc in Rhythm of War was very unsatisfying, his position as the fandom's lightning rod for hatred aside, he was a complicated character, from his role in Words of Radiance to his point-of-view in Oathbringer, he did seem nuanced. His role in RoW felt kind of like a retcon. Oh well, I suppose we have other characters with redemption arcs, practical mindset and no desire to be the big damn hero™, and Moash's journey will just be a very long fall.

Would he? As Sazed? His mind is still his own. Could he? If he does that, wouldn't that make the Preservation side of him just a bit weaker? I don't know if that constitutes as a promise from a Shard, it might not have been and if it was, well, Kelsier was preserved for a time, isn't it time he was ruined? Even if his predecessor's word binds him, Sazed isn't just Preservation, he's also Ruin.
