  1. 2) This place is known for a high degree of lawlessness
  2. What do we know so far of Darkside Investiture? That it is called Shifting Colors, originally Skycolors. Sounds like a reference to auroras That Darkside is pretty glowy That the colours can be manifested by humans, as Khriss wished for access to her colour as make-up and commented on Kenton's eye colour being very bright despite him not having a Skycolor That Violet is the colour of nobility, though that might be societal rather than Investiture construct, but also note that Skathan (Scythe in the prose) has violet Skycolor. I think I've mentioned this elsewhere but Skathan could also have done what the spren did on Roshar or the Five Scholars on Nalthis: discover Surgebinding and Awakening respectively. Basically that he found a way to tap into the natural manifestation of their Investiture system. His possible abilities mentioned so far are agelessness, healing and mind control.
  3. The most important step a man can take. It's not the first one, is it? It's the next one. Always the next step is my personal favourite, alongside the Edgedancer Oaths
  4. I think it should have a storing effect rather than a tapping effect
  5. These are all pretty heavy speculation for the next book... I don't think so. This era, going by both how the narrative and Brandon's original plan for it, isn't going to conclusively deal with either the Set or the other Shard. I think the next book will deal more with the Southern Scadrians. Kind of necessary for the tech boom of the next era. The Lost Metal is more likely to refer to Atium. Lerasium isn't widely known in-world. Using cerrobend at that scale is not something the Set should be capable of yet going by BoM.
  6. 1) This place is considered unsavoury
  7. Remember Slowswift? from Era 1 Not every hyper-competent informant needs to be a Worldhopper, they are a staple of multiple genres
  8. I think the Topaz mentioned is the First Gem, whatever that might be. Perhaps part of the weapon that killed Adonalsium. I think it's more likely to be a link with the functionality of the gem rather than the Order itself.
  9. The link I gave to the other thread became very relevant then. Nightblood can get satiated from too much Investiture (Battle of Thaylen City) and has not yet become more Invested than The Stormfather. One could also note that Odium didn't pick him up when the sword was thrown at his feet (though that doesn't necessarily say anything). Yes, it poses a risk to people who hold Investiture, it doesn't pose any risk to Investiture itself and thus, doesn't pose any risk to the Shards of Adonalsium. As for the Dor, Nightblood can't consume it. That's two Shards. He can however, consume the very structure of the Aons from AonDor including the city of Elantris. The Mists pulling away from Hemalurgy is an example of interaction between Shards of opposing Intents, mot a sign of Preservation's Investiture fleeing before Ruin's influence. Hemalurgy doesn't do what Nightblood does either.
  10. Future sight and power boosting are both pretty cool plus helpful in a pinch but not frontline combat material, they're perfect I'm not really sure about the Feruchemy aspects since we haven't seen either yet. The Spiritual Feruchemy metals sound dangerous and valuable (extra dangerous). I'm not interested in determination boosts either.
  11. I think normal storms are a thing on Roshar. Iirc, there were a few comparisons between the Highstorm and a normal storm, though that might've been the narration? They wouldn't be all that common with the Highstorm there disrupting normal weather patterns.
  12. @StanLemon, I think you got the wrong Ookla there, you meant @Ookla the Prolific
  13. Hmm... There's also the fact that emotional Allomancy can be used to control beings with cracks in their Spiritweb. This could either support or undermine the idea of Cognitive DNA though
  14. @The Sovereign, since you got skipped: 9/10, I like Kelsier Next person, rate @Knight of Iron's display pic
  15. @Llstml here's a Topic that might be of some relevance to your hypothesis:
  16. My favourite are also the Lightweavers . As for Allomancy, I would choose Electrum or Nicrosil. If we're speaking Era 1, then Bronze
  17. We don't know, currently there are many theories: Lightweavers via Illumination plus Soulcasting is quite popular, Willshapers are also a popular candidate
  18. Agreed with @Bliev, I always interpreted that 'we' as 'we Rosharans'
  19. This worries me somewhat because of the following observation. Nightblood consumes Breath (and other Investiture, but let's limit ourselves to Breath for a second). Every person on Nalthis is born with one Breath. Populations tend to grow. Which means that under normal rules of demographics, population of Nalthis should keep increasing. This in turn means that under normal circumstances the number of people with Breath on Nalthis should be growing. I can see the following possible explanations to this: Endowment can give Breath to many more people than are currently living on Nalthis. So, the exponential population growth has not yet reached the level at which Endowment's ability to award a Breath to each Nalthis-born human is seriously challenged. When it happens though, things will not go well. There is some built-in mechanism controlling population growth on Nalthis, making certain that the population stays within the limits. Nightblood's consumption of Breath makes these limits smaller, and overall may lead to Endowment's inability to grant Breath to Nalthis-born, but not for a while (essentially, Endowment controls population trends at she sees fit). Thoughts? Brandon Sanderson Just as a point you should understand, the amount of MATTER in the cosmere is finite too. As is the amount of energy. Worrying that Endowment will run out of Breaths to give is a little like worrying that the amount of carbon on Earth will run out because people keep being born. uchoo786 So just for clarification, once Nightblood consumes investiture, that investiture gets recycled? That's what I've always assumed. That it enters the cognitive/spiritual realm? Brandon Sanderson The investiture he consumes is not gone forever--it's not leaving the system, so to speak. General Reddit 2015 (Dec. 14, 2015) I don't think that's Nightblood's role in the narrative.
  20. Has anyone here watched Sense8?
  21. Hmm, I don't know about the type of spren not mattering, Glys is a bad example as we don't know much about Investiture corruption, as are the three Bondsmith spren. Certainly other types of spren can also be Bonded, we already know this from Brandon. As for Surgebinding, the specific types of spren do seem to matter in how the Surges are accessed. Honorspren, which are cousins to Windspren, probably due to association with the Highstorms, give access to the Surge of Adhesion, which would function as the manipulation of pressure and vacuum in the Physical. Gravitation seems more directly tied to Honor's Intent and its relation to Connection. Altered spren can be bonded, but what they can fuel will probably be very different than normal expressions of the Surges. These ten types of spren might've been who were the closest to the Surges or simply closest to Honor's interpretation of the Surges.
  22. (Late) welcome to the Shard, @Wheel!

  23. What's your favourite Order of the Knights Radiant?
  24. Hello! Welcome to the Shard!
