  1. Any plot twists or reveals that you saw coming in advance and are very proud of spotting?
  2. Which book's your current favourite ?
  3. Who's your favourite character so far? And also your least favourite?
  4. Thanks for crossposting from Reddit, the rest of us lot who aren't on Reddit wouldn't have known What Elantris portrait?
  5. Although one could argue the physics of it, that there are three methods of transferring heat: conduction, convection and electromagnetic radiation, the latter emitting photons and that this is what the WoB is referring to but for now I'll take him verbatim ("light particles"). I do see why you made that distinction though, and I rather like it, with Autonomy distributing Investiture in the form of energy from her sun and Endowment in the form of light which is seen as the colours from the visible light of the electromagnetic spectrum. Since, colour isn't really a physical thing, it's just a sensory perception to detect objects without having to come into direct contact with them, but that's just it: it's Physical and the Cosmere has more than just Physical laws applying to it. With how Endowment's Investiture has been described: breath, life, colour, it's definitely more Besides Investiture isn't really light or vapour (Mist and Stormlight), it's something else behaving like mundane matter and energy but which can apparently convert itself into either of those.
  6. 1) Thoughts on Kelsier* [bland] Enough with "monstrous" Kelsier* [Pros: follows the theme of a previous thread "Enough with the Moash thing". Cons: tacky, currently intend to focus on two other characters for comparison rather than just Kelsier, not a reference, possibly coming across as prescriptive] I don't know if I am just very late into Mistborn characters' morality discussions if these things were really just sadly overlooked. While Stormlight characters have multiple topics analyzing them, I've found very few doing the same for Mistborn characters. The title, of course, comes from the one character who seems to be the exception to this, Kelsier. The reason why Kelsier's characterization is still a popular topic/has seen a resurgence is because of this WoB: [ ]. There have been prev topics discussing the WoB in the context of defending Kelsier such as: [Kelsier is not a monster]*? So, I won't rehash those and instead move on two other characters who I believe should also be discussed within the same frame: the main couple, Vin & Elend [quoted from DM with Michael Marssen] Vin [collected quotes from Vin "executioner"] [the slaughter alongside Zane & her thoughts regarding the incident] [thoughts on Reen] Elend [the two executions, the army] [change in narrative style post WoA, where we start seeing him from the outside after his training] Kelsier [comparison with main couple, the stakes for context, suicidal intentions, relativism (time), contextualizing his hatred] Kel: tl;dr: one & half books worth of info on char, stop flanderization over one meta comment 2) Cultivation's Magic Collection of select WoBs regarding Cultivationlight, "fabrials are part of it", Old Magic, "Lift+no one onscreen", Adonalsium & fabrials, fabrials & medallions*, Vyre's knife possible connection 3 & 4) Pre-Splintering Selish magics Take from Who Built Elantris? (another topic exploring the possibility of the Ire being the original builders of Elantris, which was option 2 that got overshadowed by the out-there option 1) Existence of Aons within Seons during Aona's death / Devotion's Splintering; how magic manifests on Sel (shape/form) 5) Shardic Intents It always felt to me that a Shard's Intent should be spread across all three Realms, translating into Physical, Cognitive and Spiritual. Like Honor should be about rules and bindings in the Spiritual, all the interpretations of the term 'honor' that the Orders exemplify in the Cognitive, natural laws in the Physical. Similarly Preservation should tend more towards being more unchanging, static sense of the word in the Spiritual, and more protective sense of the word in the Cognitive, and in the Physical translate as the Law of Conservation And Ruin should be entropy in the Physical, the raw embodiment of time, translating as the idea of destruction and decay in the Cognitive and the end of the cycle, breaking down into fundamental parts in the Spiritual. And Cultivation stand for growth and change,: Physical, Cognitive and Spiritual. Manifesting as natural selection or artificial pruning in the Physical, personal growth in the Cognitive and the fundamental idea of change directed towards optimal or desired results in the Spiritual. Odium be the idea of anger and hatred in the Cognitive, lack of Connections, self-centredness, repulsive in the Spiritual Endowment personify the cyclical nature of life and death in the Physical, rebirth, new things arising from the old We haven't seen Ambition, Devotion and Dominion so hesitate to speculate but I see them as the drive to improve and be above others, to serve other above and below, to be above others and have them serve. I currently don't have any theories as to how their Intents might manifest in the three Realms Like the Shards aren't discrete components of Adonalsium but rather functions.
  7. 2) This place is quite well-known for said phenomena
  8. @Channelknight Fadran, thank you for the edit! Most people wouldn't have bothered and called it nitpicky. Every bit of support means a lot to us!
  9. Congratulations!!! That's the correct answer! Gneorndin Cett is the brother of Allrianne Cett and son of Ashweather Cett 1) This character has faced a main protagonist in combat He faced Vin (and Zane) when they went on a massacring rampage against them 2) This character is not Invested He isn't 3) This character has stood on the opposite side of a conflict against a member of their family Allrianne had decided to come with Breeze to join Elend and Vin's forces 4) This character has a strong protective instinct and noted to be very brave Stood in front of Vin to protect his father even after witnessing her going through his soldiers like a hot knife through butter; 5) This character has survived a catastrophic event Survived the Catacendre
  10. Welcome to the Shard! Which Shardworld would you choose to live in?
  11. Maya was a Cultivationspren, they Bond with Edgedancers. As for whether or not Adolin could Bond with her and/or heal her, that's under debate
  12. Welp, time to burn my math textbooks! Hey come now, change the first two instances of 'wife' with 'spouse' too. Also people need to be married for it to work? Can't they just be in a relationship? Why necessarily a sexual or romantic relationship? A bro can't give another bro a power with the glory of his beard?
  13. I just want to go back home. I'm stuck here in uni, not allowed to even step out of the campus
  14. Leaving that aside, I really liked what you pointed out about Dalinar's Unification Perpendicularity, @Confused It's a popular theory that Devotion's and Patji's Perpendicularities could be collapsed by Nightblood. Also that the Dor wouldn't pull away from Nightblood, being both dead and pressurized.
  15. Assuming no new WoBs since then @Confused Autonomy's Investiture is distributed to Taldain in the form of light from the Dayside blue sun, which is pointed out by Khriss to be a simplified explanation of the process in the Arcanum Unbounded. Unless there's newer info on this, their Perpendicularity being located on the sun is just conjecture
  16. Has it been confirmed that Autonomy's Perpendicularity is in the sun?
  17. Pencil sharpeners are used for divination. Whether the tip breaks or not is a portend of what may come to pass. Though sometimes things snatch and swallow up the whole pencil. Beards
  18. Maybe the Perp manifests intermittently in slightly different locations That's sad for the Worldhoppers But it would be cool, wouldn't it?
  19. Oh I think the Highstorm is Honor's Perpendicularity though I also think that would be a bit boring given the loooong tease and RAFOs. I kind of want Honor's Perpendicularity to be the Highstorm's Origin, whatever that may be
  20. Why the self-deprecation? "ask an idiot anything", "because some of us (men) are stupid so even little thing amaze us", in synonym game you used idiot as a synonym for men Men are awesome, though I may be biased, being both from that team and batting for that team
  21. Dai-Gonarthis is as good as confirmed to be an Unmade by Jezrien in OB. The Death Rattles also seem to confirm it. And yes, the Unmade are Odium's super-spren. There are nine because they are missing a Bondsmith equivalent. Though there isn't a clear one-to-one parallel between the Orders and the Unmade. Roshar was originally created by Adonalsium, many of the spren were there before Honor and Cultivation's arrival, though they were different than as they are now. Stormfather confirmed that he existed before Honor, though he wasn't as aware back then. The Sibling, given its name, could be a mix of both Honor and Cultivation, a sibling to both The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher.
  22. We technically don't have explicit confirmation that the Highstorm is Honor's Perpendicularity or sometimes the Shades on Threnody form a Perpendicularity. Those are educated guesses / very well-informed theories.
  23. @TheOnlyBenEver, who's your most favourite character so far?
  24. Whoa, I did not see that one coming. Yeah, I think that should be possible, though maybe not on the same scale, with Nightblood being one of the most Invested things that isn't a Shard.
