  1. This has implications
  2. Welcome to the 17th Shard, @Shard of Reading! What's your favourite Cosmere book?
  3. Narrating characters, so no Nightblood or Denth votes! (Also Nightblood would totally win) Mine goes to Vivenna. I loved her heel faced turn. Siri had a strong beginning, but stuff stopped happening in her chapters. Lightsong actively tried to make sure stuff didn't happen in his chapters, which was kind of fun, but I found myself skipping his chapters upon rereads. Vasher was fascinating and grumpy but I don't think we saw enough from his point-of-view to really feel as close to him as we did with the other three.
  4. Some spren do seem to be unnerved by the Cryptics but many spren also don't like the Honorspren for their warlike nature and how they once tried to conquer Shadesmar. Spren relations would be interesting to see going forwards... As for interaction between these two in particular, I don't think Pattern will take it lying down, he'll learn some retorts from Shallan if he has to. Not that he needs to, remember how he insulted Inadara for calling him a Voidbringer?
  5. @Eternal Khol, that's interesting, directly reaching into the Spiritual without using the Cognitive as an intermediary. Doubly interesting actually, since the main source of Investiture is itself blocked from the Spiritual. Yet Wulfden seems to have access to Fortune... What do you think happens to one's Cognitive Aspect when they die on Sel? Get absorbed by the Dor? Quick second death? Turned into a Cognitive Shadow, possibly the Svrakiss?
  6. Hmm, I don't know about the Adonalsium bit How early in the timeline is the Emperor's Soul? Probably before Elantris? (given the postscript in 10th Anniversary Edition), Hoid definitely intends to hack the Selish magics, it seems. I doubt that he's given up. Edit: found WoBs confirming that Draginon is correct, Emperor's Soul is set after Elantris
  7. Someone shared this WoB with me: So... maybe spren can receive Breath?
  8. If I had just thought "meh" and not opened the link again, would I have won then?
  9. Okay, so I saw this thread long ago and forgot about it. I didn't remember what "the Game" was though I'm sure I opened the link back then. I had to reopen the link again, now. Does that mean I lost the game? I won the game? Either way, where's my participation award?
  10. Granted, that was a very dumb idea, seriously that was your Boon? Your wish fulfilled itself. Your Bane is truly excessive body hair. Was it worth it being sassy to the Nightwatcher? I wish to land a punch on The Nightwatcher's face
  11. Urithiru was built after the founding of the Knights Radiant
  12. Narratively, I don't think it's likely that we'll see Unmade fabrials. The superweapon role seems to be occupied by the Dawnshards right now. Also, the Unmade interactions that we've seen so far: Shallan realized that Re-Shephir was trying to understand humanity and creating twisted parodies, Nergaoul acting like a pleased hound when Dalinar let himself feel the Thrill, Sja-Anat wanting to defect, Yelig-Nar needing to be controlled and Ashertmarn's careless hedonism. They seem to be playing the role of subverters, who I think might end up getting subverted themselves. "They were once made, then Unmade", perhaps they could be Remade? I think that the Unmade were once something else who were Corrupted by Odium, but they can be turned back. The overall themes of Stormlight: unity, redemption, fight against hatred, makes me think that this is what will happen with the Unmade. But that doesn't preclude the Unmade from getting subverted and weaponized in the form of fabrials during their story arc. It would be interesting. It'd also be interesting if they get Bonded... but the way Brandon reacted to the question of whether or not someone could Bond an Unmade made me think that one could technically do that but it's not something that we're gonna see happen. Fabrials seem to require specific types of gemstones. We haven't seen a perfect gemstone used as a fabrial. Would different coloured gemstones be able to produce different kinds of effects from the Unmade or would only specific types of gemstones work with specific Unmade? I think it would be the latter. Nergaoul used as a Rioter fabrial sounds quite reasonable. Perhaps Moelach could act as an Atium fabrial. Most interesting would be Yelig-Nar, who might become a full Surgebinding fabrial with all Surges.
  13. Finally, a Navani fanart depicting her like how I imagined her (rather than a supermodel) Also, Sak and Kokerlii look awesome
  14. Maybe Rlain discovers a new form that Brandon didn't want to reveal yet?
  15. Not anymore Also, wouldn't advise it, it's really annoying to wait for prime numbers, people often stop directly before reaching one and then the moment you're gone from the thread, the spot's taken
  16. Err, you're also supposed to make a wish after granting a Boon and Bane
  17. I don't think the effect would be noticeable from using Investiture, but rather from holding it. Allomancers don't really hold Investiture for long, just burn metal to quickly convert it into Investiture. Holding Stormlight does seem to make one feel restless, but that's probably because that's the nature of Stormlight: it needs to cycle into the ecosystem, it needs to flow, it needs to be spent. Any personality differences we might see in Surgebinders would be due to them being Radiant: their Ideals and their spren rather than their Investiture, which they carry around in Spheres on their person, inhale and then quickly spend it. They don't really hold on to it. Breath, on the other hand, is held within Awakeners and they were once a part of other people, this has a miniscule effect: As for humans of a Shardworld being influenced by the Intent of the resident Shard. I'd say that's more of a function of how their culture interacts with the resident Shard and how they access the Shard's power. Simply using a Shard's Investiture wouldn't really have that big an effect on the populace. That's not enough of a Connection for that to happen, I think it'd need something more significant than simply being Invested.
  18. This might be of interest to the parched Kingkiller fans:

  19. 5. This character is Invested but not very strong
  20. Honorless

    Jezrien

Digging that beard. He's supposed to be tanner though.
  21. Honorless

    Ishar

the moons should've been different colours: only one of them is violet, the other two are blue and green
  22. Happy Birthday

  23. I've theorized whether the Ire were the original Elantrians before and I think that with the info we have, it fits. The Iriali, though, I don't know...
  24. They have their own distinct language/dialect but they are a part of the Vorin Kingdoms (Alethi and Veden are very closely related, other Vorin Kingdoms also use a Vorin dialect, aside from their own tongue), and so it should be possible to get someone to teach you, though it might be difficult as it's a poor, overlooked region of Jah Keved. The way the character's speech is portrayed/transcribed seems to indicate they just speak a different dialect, though they might once have spoken a distinct language as they have some distinct words.
  25. That is, of course, assuming it is a godmetal... err godmineral? And that the two are from the same Shard, rather than the similarity in appearance being caused by something else I had created a separate topic for whether Soulstone even is a Godmetal...ish thing:
