Thanks for pointing that out. How do I change it.
-
Well then it would seem the days that the Kundra can go around completely undetected on Scadrial are over. Provided that the police go around scanning everyone they think is suspicious with metal detectors which, on a world like Scadrial I don't see why they wouldn't.
-
If a Kandra were to walk through a metal detector during Mistborn era 3 and 4 would their Hemalurgic Spikes get picked up or would the fact that they are Invested interfere with the detection process. This question also applies to metalminds and metals that are being burnt by an Allomancer. If they can be detected then it would be a really easy way of finding a Kandra that is hiding amongst people.

Yes in the end their spiritual aspect is changed into something different. A Cognitive Shadow is just Investiture that has had someones Cognitive aspect Imprinted upon it. If you change the Cognitive aspect as well as the Spiritual then you should no longer be a Cognitive shadow. Case in point the infamous stick. Once it is Soulcast into fire its Spiritual, Cognitive and physical aspects are all now that of fire. It is no longer a stick on any of the three realms. The same would apply to a Herald Edit: Also Shardplate can be soulcast and the going theory is that it is made of spren. Since Spren are very closely related to Cognitive Shadows and Shardplate will be destroyed when Soulcast then we can extrapolate that Cognitive Shadows will also be destroyed.
-
Their souls will be changed to some inanimate object. They will no longer be Cognitive shadows so permanent death.
-
Soulcasting should kill a Herald pretty quickly, or the Surge of division to separate all their molecules at once. Although with the Soulcasting I guess that would be a permanent death. Which begs the question, how is it that in all those Desolation's no Fused or Voidbinder was able to hit a Herald with Soulcasting. Anyway back to the main question. Is it not the Honorblades that are giving the Heralds direct access to Honor's Investiture. If you are able to separate the Heralds from their connection to the Honorblades then you should be able to kill them with a regular knife.

Are there any unusual things you could do with surges

Oh, my mistake. Yes this should work. I don't see why it wouldn't. -

I don't know about this. From what I understand of "Spiritual Adhesion" you need to make a louse Connection with someone to be able to speak their language. You don't learn it because what you are doing is retroactively changing you spiritweb to say that you always knew this language. If you made a connection to a book you would only know it's history and what is inside it. If the words are written in a different language then you wouldn't learn the language you would just read it thinking that it was written in your language. -

Here is one. Uses the Surge of division to decay/destroy cancers and other growths on a body. It could be a way to get rid of the stigma that Dustbringers have. Progression will not be able to get rid of Cancers because those ailments are hardwired into the Spiritweb but Division should be able to with practice. Uses the Surges of either Cohesion or tension (I don't know which one) to strengthen ones skin and body to make them essentially bullet proof. -
My quest continues then.

We know that there is Spren that live in the sea so is it possible that the Parshendi, if they attract the right Spren could transform into a Merman type form. If this is possible I could imagine a scenario were a group of Parshendi go sick of all the constant desolation's and escaped to the sea were the Fused and Heralds wouldn't be able to find them.
-
Does that also extend to your cousins the Dark matter Spren, and the Tachyon Spren. I have been searching for them for ages.
-
as @Calderis said, these are not simple and straight forward scientific forces. Transformation and Transportation are the in-world words used to describe the real fundamental forces of Realmic travel and the conversion from matter to energy to Investiture. These are not forces that apply to the real world but are specific to the Cosmere.

When have you ever heard of a pantheon of gods not fighting each and acting idiotic about it.
-
Not really. #1 you are burning the spike and #4 you are not burning it but you still can if you tried. The end result is the same but the mechanics of how it happened are slightly different.

Both Ruin and Preservation's Investiture try to enter through the metal and get rebuffed by each other but instead of exploding they just cancel each other out. Kind of like Ruin and Vin during their struggle at the end of HoA. The Mistborn is just left with a stab wound but with their powers intact. I would say that this is the least likely of the scenarios.
-
If you were a Mistborn and someone was trying to spike you with a Hemalurgic spike and you burnt it the moment it penatrated you what would happen. The act of burning would force Preservation's Investiture through the metal first blocking any of Ruins Investiture leaving you with just a stab wound. Ruins Investiture flows through the metal first blocking any of Preservation's Investiture leaving you dead with a chunk of your soul missing. Ruin's and Preservation's Investiture flow through the metal at the same time and because both are diametrically opposed to each other they rebuff each other and cause an explosion similar to Harmonium. Nothing happens.

Windrunner/Stoneward. Windrunner reverse lashes the ground causing everyone to fall to their knees. Stoneward then makes ground soft and drowns them in it.

Less time and effort with normal compounding I guess. You can store F-pewter strength at any time will storing A-Pewter strength requires you to have multiple sources of pewter on you. There might be some loss of Investiture during the transfer from Preservation to you to the metalmind maybe. Either way from what we know of Compounding and the fact that multiple allomantic powers are confirmed to be able to be stored in metalminds I just don't see there being any difficulty in this happening.
-
Allomantic Pewter strength comes from Preservation's Investiture reinforcing your muscles and bones not from increased muscle mass like F-Pewter. Since it has been stated by WOB that this can be stored in a Pewtermind and then compounded you may get to the point that your body is so reinforced that you become impervious to knives and bullets.
-
It is possible but unknown at this point. If Voidbinding works like Surgebindeing (bonding a Spren) then yes you could absolutely pull the Void Spren into the Physical Realm thus making a Shardblade. If not then probably no.
-
Duralumin only pushes out any kinetic Investiture that is inside you all at once. It could give you a very brief super charged surge but once that is done you will be out of Stormlight and would need more. Just burning Duralumin by itself would do nothing.
-
No worries. us Malzan fans have to stick together.

I think the questioner was asking if Atium worked like Lerasium (a metal that anyone can burn and that turns you into a Mistborn). In Hemalurgy Atium steals any power. The Inquisitors used it to steal the ability to burn Atium from the Nobility or from allomantic Skaa.
-
Only Mistborn and Atium Mistings can burn Atium. The army of Atium Mistings were directly created by Preservation through the mechanisms of the Mist Snappings. The asterisks is probably referring to the fact that anyone can burn Atium if they are spiked with an Atium spike.
