Would a single Atium spike make u a Mistborn or Fullborn ?
Dancer replied to Friendshipspren's question in Cosmere Q&A
Atium can only steal one power at a time (as they understand Hemulergy at the moment). There are ways to steal more then one power with a single spike but they don't know that yet. Atium is special in that it can steal any and all powers throughout the Cosmere if one knows which bind point to spike. -
The reason Vin was able to use the mists was because Preservation actively increased her connection to the mists. Any regular allomancer, Mistborn, Lerrasium Mistborn or Feruchemist can't just breath in the mists because their connection with preservation is not high enough. I believe that this will also apply to any Radient that happened to be able to hack their way into Allomancy. They are able to breath in the Highstorms because they are bonded to literally a sentient piece of that particular Investiture.

pg 620 The final empire "He turned and smiled toward the group of Ministry priests, knowing full well the discomfort the gaze of an Inquisitor could cause. He couldn't see anymore, not as he once had, but he had been given something better. A command of Allomancy so subtle, so detailed, that he could make out the world around him with startling accuracy. Almost everything had metal in it - water, stone, glass... even human bodies. These metals were too diffuse to be affected by Allomancy - indeed, most Allomancers couldn't even sense them."

I feel like we should have seen the whole 360 degree trace element vision when we had the few inquisitor POV's in the final empire or any of Marshes POV's. It would have increased the threat of the Inquisitors.
-
That is interesting! If they combine that with the seeing the world in trace metals no one would be able to sneak up on them or hide from them if they are near by unless the are wearing aluminium armor.
-
In all of those I just assumed they saw those things as they were moving past remembered they were there then just pushed or pulled but I might just be miss remembering.

My question here is can you see the blue lines that are behind you when you burn steel/iron. We know that you don't need to have working eyes to see the blue lines after all the blue lines still appear when your eyes are closed or even when you lose your eyes (Inquisitors). We know that with training you can see anything that have small trace elements of metal in them. We also know of one other metal that allows you to perceive things that are behind you Atium. The both work on similar principles by giving you a glimpse into the SR were all locations and time are one. So with all that do you think that it is possible (with enough training of coarse). If it turns out that this is possible then it means that steel/iron Mistings and Mistborn can have a 360 degree view of their surroundings at all times when burning. This might put a lot of strain on their minds though having to process all that visual information.

As you have stated the post was intended to highlight how the intent for something to happen can let you do just about anything in the Cosmere. You wan't to rip out someones soul well just thrust a piece of metal into them (in specific places mind you). No having to go to the SR, no ritual you just have to know that it can happen and you wan't it to happen. You are correct that as of now the is no relation between what I have theorised and the Metallic arts. This can be due to 1.) Everyone thinks the metallic arts only works in specific ways and have not experimented with converting energy into Investiture. 2.) The have tried but don't know the right trick to make it work. Just like how someone can't access someone else's metalminds. 3.) It can't work. This entire theory is speculation and is only supported by the fact energy, matter and Investiture can be converted into each other in the Cosmere. I admit it is tenuous at best.
-
Hemalurgy can work if you shoot a bullet in the right spot so I believe it is in the realm of possibilities.
-
Heat my work I don't know about light. The premise of this theory is about shoving energy into the already invested metal and converting that into Investiture. It's important that it is already Invested so that the the energy that you are shoving in can be shaped in a particular way. I don't think light would work in that scenario because the light would just be reflected back. Heat would probably work. The reason I chose electricity is because it flows through the metal similar to how preservation's and Ruin's powers flow through the metal.
-
There would have to be some other spiritual stuff involved to convert energy into Investiture to begin with which I'm not to sure about yet. Intent would also play a big factor

The news paper article I refereed to is on pg 314 of my copy.

Everything in this theory revolves around the idea that Investiture, energy and matter are interchangeable within the Cosmere. So within era 2 of Mistborn, Scadiral is on the cusp of powering its technology with electricity (instead of using what I assume are coal powered trains). If the Northerners were to incorporate electricity into the Metallic arts then here are some fundamentals I believe could be possible. Hemalurgy: Hemalurgy works on the principle that you charge a Hemalurgic spike with Investiture by ripping out someones soul and splicing onto someone else. The spike will lose its charge the longer it is out of the body and also doesn't hold a lot of charge to begin with. How will electricity fit in this system. Well it hinges on the principle that matter and energy can be converted into Investiture. We see this with how Soul casting works. The inject investiture into an object and change the cognitive and spiritual aspect of the object into something else. My theory is doing the same thing in reverse. You pass an electric current though the Hemalurgic spike and when it hits the Investiture in the spike it changes and molds to that Investiture. Obviously intent and some other things will have to happen for the electric energy to suddenly change into Ruin's Investiture but the underlying principle should be the same. The electric energy passes through the Investiture in the spike and changes to suit that Investiture. This will a sort of Investiture hack so you can get around the whole less power then you started thing that Ruin loves so much. You could also fully fill a Hemalugic spike. What the hell would happen then? Allomancy: With Allomancy there are a few ideas. The fist if just that its gives a small boost when burning your metal. You hook up one of your piercings to a small battery then burn you metal. Preservation's power flows through the metal hits the electric current and converts it to extra allomantic power. The second one is that you can use the electric energy flowing through the metal to stop it from being destroyed when preservation's power flows through. The metal is just the gateway so if you could convert the the electric energy into Investiture and use that Investiture to keep the gateway open (not destroy the metal) then so long as your battery lasts you can continually use allomancy. Feruchemy: This ones woks just like Hemalurgy. Pass an electric current through a charged metalmind and as the current hits the Investiture in the metalmind it will change to suit that Investiture. No more having to ruin your body to fill a metal mind. Also you could hook up other pieces of the same metal in a series circuit to fill up multiple metalminds for the price of one. This could also be done for Hemalurgic spikes. It would be more efficient then compounding because no metal is being destroyed. I'm interested to see what you all think about my theory.

From the news paper articles in BOM a Chromium misting details how he was able to leech an invested gun with his abilities. We don't know how reliable this is though. However Brandon has implied that Chromium mistings can leech just about anything since the mechanics are similar to the larkins and Nightblood.

Dancer replied to Hakedohn's topic in Stormlight Archive
I definitely want to see interaction between Szeth, Nightblood and his Highspren. Definitively find out were the gems for capturing Stormlight are found. Are they mined, are they collected from the gem hearts of other living creatures were. If they are mined then how do they account for Highstorms flooding new tunnels every few days. Also how do they make the glass for the spheres. Are they soul cast. IIRC they don't use a lot of fire due to the high oxygen percentage in the atmosphere so how are they making the glass, with Fabrials maybe.- 50 replies

Remember Chromium burns really fast, as fast and Duralumin. also any metal that is piercing his body will be leached (this includes his bracers) as well as any in his stomach. Leaching and Nicrobursting are extremely under utilised in era 2 Mistborn. Just remember the shear amount of investiture that his metal minds will have will probably put up huge resistance to any leaching by the two mistborns.

Could The Heralds Be Saved With A Zinc Spike?
Dancer replied to Rorzikel's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Centuries if not millennia of torture plus four millennia of knowing that you left your friend to suffer that torture (which broke you) alone. Not just that but lying to humanity not doing anything to prepare for the time you know that your friend will break and having to deal with the fact that you are slowly going insane for four and a half thousand years. I don't think it will be solved with one zink spike. If anything it may just make things worse. We know that on Roshar that people with damaged souls due to trauma can hear the screams of the dead constantly. If you damage your soul even further by using a Hemalurgic spike your likely to cause even more problems. -
I'm with @robardin here. If TLR know's that there is an attack coming especially if it involves the well of ascension then he would personally wipe the floor with everyone he believes is against him. He could do it by himself he is that powerful. That's not to mention if he takes this super seriously and calls for his Inquisitors and seer Obligaters to help. This will be a one sided stomp, no contest.

It most likely is, we don't know the mechanics as of right now. I don't think that Brandon was confirming the questioners theory merely stating that The Lord Ruler was using compounding to enhance his soothing. It would be very nice for Brandon to tell us how it works but we won't know for a long time. IIRC we are going to get the completion of the Sel trilogy before we go back to Scadiral after the Lost Metal.
-
here is a WoB implying that A-compounding is possible and that the Lord Ruler was doing this.
-
I think that Duralumin would be the least useful of the metals to compound after tin. It would let you use up your compounded stores probably without the wast associated with tapping at high rates and could probably control the rate of burn of any metal your burning at the time but that's probably it
-
I an sure those two things are related I don't know how though. I would assume the same thing would happen with gold since
-
Seriously there is so much potential for A-compounding it is a shame that we have only seen one person the LR do it. Even then we only saw him do this with steel, iron and brass. We need to see an A-compounder in either er3 or 4, if not it will be a huge wast of potential. PS: I guess you could count Vin channeling the mists as pseudo compounding due to the extreme power she was able to unleash.
