So I just finished my third book, the first draft anyway.
And um, I killed the main characters father. Again. For the third time.
And I killed the secondary characters mother. And her father, though she didn't know that.
I think I have a problem.

We all end up doing that a lot I think as authors/aspiring authors.

We absolutely do, because trauma is one of the easiest ways to build characters and stories, and it’s really fun to read when it’s done right! *cough Kaladin cough* I’m trying to write a mc without trauma right now and it honestly just doesn’t work. Happy characters don’t have good stories.
