Well Venli definitely swears an Ideal related to freedom. The quiz mentions it, really the only part that seems to disagree are the divine attribute pair from Vorinism(?) and Kelek the herald.
-
Interesting. In that case, OP may be right about these oaths being Jasnah's Elsecaller Oaths.
-
One thing I'd like to add here is the subtext for the Order's Title Card as shown in the official Radiant Quiz. For all the other orders (except Lightweavers), the subtext is the first part of their second ideal. "I will protect" "I will remember". for Elsecallers, that first part is "I will reach my potential".

Something I'm curious about is the eventual (possible) existence of Warspren. Like, not just Enlightened Radiant spren, I'm talking proper Spren of the Intent of War. Not "corrupted" in the cosmerical sense, but an actual mixing of Honor and Odium's Investiture, as a sapient Spren.

I am quite partial to "Nicroburst" just because it kinda sounds like a superhero name.

discuss Alternative methodes to avoid Hemalurgic decay

Interesting... But I'm still skeptical. Maybe you're right, but in the end I guess it'll just be a RAFO. -
discuss Alternative methodes to avoid Hemalurgic decay

Eh? Isn't that the whole point? Tricking the spike into not decaying because it thinks it's inside a valid host... Why would that make it a weak secondhand spike? Spikes don't get weaker when you take them out except for the part where they decay while in transit, right?? -
discuss Alternative methodes to avoid Hemalurgic decay

I think this one has a good chance of working, though it might need to be spiked before it's soulcast. Also, it may not work as being made into a lifeless is about having been alive while the spike wants something that registers as body, which a lump of former meat might not. Or, or... Spike an awakened object with a command involving just sitting around and being a convenient spike receptacle. It might not even need to have been a person/animal, like you could make a hemalurgic voodoo doll! -
Each peak? That's not exactly how quantum particles work, per se. A photon is an individual/indivisible packet of energy, an excitation in the Electromagnetic Field, which mediates and transmits the electromagnetic force between particles that are coupled (Connected?) to the Electromagnetic field. That excitation has a wavelength, or frequency, which we perceive as color due to chemicals our eyes release when stimulated by different wavelengths of photons interacting with our cones in our retinas. Color is pure perception, but wavelength is an objective reality. The closeness or farness of those peaks is what determines which color we see. While this specific instance doesn't define an actual wavelength for this hypothetical photon, it does resemble the wave structure of a photon in general.
-
Actually, with the way it intensifies and peaks in the middle, it almost looks like a quantum wavefunction, but sideways. Like a... photon...
-
That second list of surges almost looks like you could make a helix out of it. Wait, hang on. Lemme try that. Aaaand it looks like a waveform. Huh.

dawnshard Let's make groups of four, RoW edition

Welcome! No worries. As long as it's not a total spaghetti jumble of incoherence, you're fine. I generally agree with these points. The specific shards might be a bit different imo. But for the most part I do think you're on the right track. -
Ok my dyslexic brain read that as "the immoral words" at first and I was like "well okay then"

nobody said they had their gems charged inside their borders... though i think that would be a bit trickier to explain.
-
Understandable. On a side note, our debate managed to get this thread listed as a hot topic, so i'm amused. Hooray for intellectual discussion about fictional worlds and cultures!
-
Agreed. So, think that would be a wiser course of action? Yeah, that was definitely who came to mind for alternatives. In which case maybe the fallen title IS the shard of honor, but it's Dalinar who's going to pick it up, which seems almost TOO obvious... Hmmm.
-
Hmm. Okay. Trying to think about this from new angles, then... Let's tackle one of the basic assumptions we're making here; that the "he" that "must pick it up" is Kaladin. Yes, the Spear seems to point in that direction, but Kal hasn't and probably won't ever have a Crown, nor does he "own" Urithiru (which may or may not even be the Tower referred to in the Rattle), unless you think of it in some abstract way, which, again, this is a Death Rattle, so that kind of abstract thinking may be needed to decipher it. But let's roll with this idea of not assuming the "he" is Kaladin. Who else could "he" be? ...Maybe I should make a separate topic for this, I admit we've kind of hijacked OP's topic here.
-
Okay, then where on Roshar would rulers be wearing crowns? maybe this detail will be more important than I anticipated. Alright that's fair. Though looking at the whole Death Rattle again, I'm not sure "the fallen title" is a separate fourth thing from the Tower, Crown, and Spear. I think the fallen title involves those three things as pieces of what it refers to.
-
Okay, sure. That's true. But again, this is a Death Rattle we're talking about. He's still been known as Herald of Kings. Death Rattles are basically meant to be obscure. See above, tbh. Well, this could spiral into a whole other discussion about whether or not Kaladin will replace Jezrien as the Windrunner-equivalent Herald and wind up as a 5th-oath/herald combo like Nale. Do you want to have that discussion? Cause I don't really know if I do. I'm just saying it's a possibility.
-
Well, why is that? I'm not even necessarily agreeing that Kaladin is going to pick up a Shard, i'm just curious as to why you disagree that a crown doesn't make sense as an abstract reference to Jezrien, Herald of Kings.
-
Yeah, but it's not like Death Rattles are known for being literal, now are they.
-
"Herald of Kings", no?
-
Apparently there's a Kandra on roshar somewhere. Think about that for a minute.
