  1. This is the correct thread but now you have a double post. This is generally frowned on. In the future you can ask a mod to move your post. Hoid could probably not become as powerful as Adonalsium was. To do so he would need to get all the powers possessed by the shards and unite them into one. This is theoretically possible but it would require defeating some really powerful beings. Also if he wanted to he could have started with 1/16 of the power he needed but decided not to.
  2. We do not know the full extent of Hoid's powers. He mentions during OB that he has some healing abilities(he had to suppress them to make the beating he took stick) and he also has Yollish Lightweaving(we don't know what that is really just that he has it) and at least the first heigtening(breath from Warbreaker). He also attempted to gain feruchemy during the mistborn trilogy but we don't know if he was successful or not. Also welcome to the shard!
  3. He might be doing something else. Miles should be able to do it with sufficient gold reserves and Hoid also has some healing.
  4. That was the stormfather the spren of the highstorm. He was not Honor who died defending mankind. Exactly. As long as they are doing damage they have a win condition. They don't just want to break civilization they want to kill humanity. Both of hose had oathgates. Only Karbranth was different and I personally think that was a singer settlement until much later in Rosharan history. Kharbrath as a modern kingdom was only founded more recently. Apparently it started as an pirate and smugglers enclave. For now. But in battle you can't expect them to win every engagement. He has considerable power and influence. The Azish would love a compromise, Jasnah would uphold his word, Taravangain can't afford to break his public persona. In short I do not think this would be a major problem. During Gavilar's conquest for example surrendered soldiers were sometimes brought into the King's army.
  5. I agree. We are missing something. Perhaps the fused think like Odium. They just want to kill as many humans as possible to make the Herald's job more difficult next time? But that still does not explain some things... I think the supplies are around the city. There was an old map that only showed the 10 kingdoms capitals. I think it was like that with settlements right around them. I really hope we get some kind of large scale Singer surrender in book 4 and that Dalinar offers them good terms.
  6. Cool? It is interesting but I am unsure why you say so.
  7. The meaning is ultimately the same.
  8. I was quoting from memory.
  9. "It will be good to have a piece of you even if you eventually become his." She would benefit either way. I think she did is analogous to stealing his social security number. Magically speaking.
  10. Yeah but taking it in shifts would still be smarter. The Heralds in the best condition could go to braize while others stuck around and prepared mankind. They could also swap out skills. Or, and I know I sound radical for suggesting, it maybe come to some kind of rapprochement with the singers? You can't negotiate with the fused or with Odium but you should be able to work with the singers themselves. That is how most conflicts in human history ended.
  11. We know next to nothing about her.
  12. We don't actually know how you fill unkeyed metalminds. Suit did not manage to get it to work so it is probably more involved then just having the right attribute and storing.
  13. You could do that with nonliving entities assuming you had a decent return or message system. Given time yes. It is just like computer programing.
  14. With proper modification sure. You would have to do some fairly complex calculus homework so that you did not miss but you could definitely make it. Aons are great like that. You can do basically anything if you are willing to spend the time making it work. Also remember Aons are location based. You would need a workaround if you wanted to get back.
  15. Nale mentions they sometimes found pockets of Voidbringers after desolations. The fused are evil and nasty but they are not stupid. An immideate frontal assault is not generally a good military strategy. This begs the question of why all 10 Heralds stayed on Braize instead of doing it in shifts.
  16. Yes to a degree. A shard is a constant force like gravity. Human(or sapiant) willpower is limited. When Ati first picked up the shard of Ruin Ruin could easily have been named Change. It only became more destructive as he started to see things the way the shard did. However an individual with unique or alien physiology who picked up a shard might interpret the intent vastly differently. For example Vin while holding the shard of Preservation was probably something closer to Protection. Also I think I will answer for @RShara here. Odium is NOT passion. It is a common misconception.
  17. Kind of and not without consequence. It is also possible that the things Hoid did during the shattering made him more sprenlike.
  18. I assume when one of the Herald's yields. When this happens the fused can return to Roshar and the Heralds must do what they can to mitigate the damage and give society what they can to start over until their time runs out. When the Herald's leave the fused cannot be reborn. As such they once the Heralds have killed most of them they can go back. Finally I don't think humans had many settlements not connected by oathgates so the fused can only attack one point.
  19. Really depends. A radiant born blind would probably not.
  20. Feruchemical gold has limits. Medical study will still require work. Additionally x-rays on earth were actually discovered by accident and I think a it would be a good idea to know how to set bones before healing them. Gold is also not particularly good at getting rid of disease so antibiotics would still be useful. Medical ventolators I partially agree on. Cadmium seems like an easier solution. They might supplement but people will still enjoy a good meal even if they don't need it. Some agriculture like vineyards will remain intact and most other food will probably still be produced at some scale. Food is something that a lot of people take very seriously. I don't really see it as any different then a book. Can books teach you? Of course but we still need educators. If you made a large unkeyed version you might be able to make some kind of coppermind internet though.
  21. Those are true statements but they apply to terriforming in our world as well and plenty of people are still interested. Also habitats on a planet or moon will experience quakes, most people don't live close to volcanoes and desired weather can be accomplished with some really low level human technology (like fire). A terriformed planet requires considerably less maintenance then a habitat of proportional size.
  22. They also restrict spren.
  23. I am assuming they have already built habitats. Habitats are annoying, dangerous and require a great deal of maintenance. Humans find it much nicer on planets.
  24. No thank you.
