  1. He smiled, "for a dog, your smarter than you look." He thought for a moment, choosing what to say. "You stand down, and I'll let them leave," he indicated the group below, "but she and you will remain for one week. After which you may join your companions. Do we have a deal?" He knew what was being risked , he knew there was a big chance of this backfiring in his face. But he also knew he hasn't gotten everything he needed from the woman, and that wolf had seen too much now to allow leaving. His eyes stayed on the wolf, his smile widening, "as. You. Wish." He began releasing her faster.
  2. "Can't do that," he said, " see, my power is inn the unexpected. You leave alive and tell the inquisition, and my mission becomes even more difficult. " he began loosening his grip, holding her over the edge now. "Now. Stand. Down." @Sorana @turtle 373
  3. The man grunted, but twisted, swinging his axe down at Chadwicks neck. The shadows pulled Amara towards the edge of the tower, forcing her to watch the scene below. It turned towards the dog that pestered him, "stand down, or I'll throw her off, than murder them down there." He said it bluntly , with no hesitation, pushing a little closer to the edge. @Sorana @Turtle373
  4. Mutig looked towards the tower, at first he thought it wasn't much, but then he heard the scream, the second time he'd heard that scream today. He began to rush towards the tower doors, when they flung open, revealing multiple cloaked figures. They stepped out and into the street, their eyes practically dripping shadows, then they spoke in unison. "Congratulations, you now get to see what happens when I take control." The creature surrounded the whole street, blocking any exits. Mutig backed up until he was beside Algorath, then spoke clearly, though he felt weak from his injury, "how do you suggest we get up there without dieing?" He scanned the surroundings, and saw Chadwick dash past the guards and up the tower. In a low voice, he grunted, "we just need to keep its attention as long as possible." @Vargo Seldon The man rolled to his feet, brandishing his axe, then the shadows extended, expanding. The creature spoke smoothly, "welcome to the tower of the Fens. Did you know it was made originally as a shrine to Vania?" @Sorana @Turtle373
  5. Before era 3: it will be amazing! It shall top both ears 1-2! Era 3 starts:................................... 1week after Era 3 began:.................................. 1month after Era 3 began:............................................
  6. You had been staying away from the creature at first, than saw @Sorana get taken and went after her? Possibly working up the structure as me and @Vargo Seldon and @ZincAboutIt showed up?
  7. The man looked at her suspiciously, but began talking. "We should be in the palace, breaking down our foes and resting control of this kingdom. Instead, I'm stuck here babysitting." He was mad , but not as much as he had been. The woman looked at him, finishing with the tent and hay. "Than what?" She asked in a accented voice, "the people must see our Lord as strong and merciful. Otherwise, they will beg for Vania to strike us down, or worst, summon the inquisition to break down what we have built." " then we hit the inquisition... "The man said, as if forming a plan, "we break them, and the people will see us as untouchable. The king would bow before us, the people would worship us as gods! " "Perhaps our Lord hit your brain, or you are genuinely an idiot." The woman responded, looking at him closely, "if we attacked the inquisition, the people would see it as a test of their faith. The king would call upon every able bodied soul he had to fight us to the last breath." The man was about to respond, but stiffened. The woman seemed satisfied, but froze. She darted to the tent, knocking it down. The man grabbed Amara and put a hand to her mouth, preventing her from crying out. They both stopped moving, and Amara could hear what they had heard. Footsteps, big, aggressive foot steps. The woman looked over and mouthed "wolf, bear, man" to the man, and she came over and took over keeping Amara silent as the man snatched his axe and moved towards the stairs. @Sorana @Vargo Seldon @ZincAboutIt @MacThorstenson
  8. The man looked at Amara with hatred, but before he could do anything the first of the woman returned. She was the one that jumped, and now she returned on the shadows, carrying a bale of hay on her back and her arms full of tent. She began setting up the tent, but the man growled at her. "That will be seen, no tents." The woman looked at him, sizing him up, than returned to setting up the tent. The man almost swung his axe at the woman's head, but barely kept his temper. @Sorana The creature smiled, watching the group beginning to break apart. He eyed one of the marbles, but didn't go for them. He floated closer to the mage, and whispered into his ear, "live to fight another day." He hadn't gotten his voice down, so he tried to make it a passing thought. @MacThorstenson
  9. Mutig staggered, blurry eyed and dizzy. He made off after Algorath. The creature watched from not far off. It had one of its newer, magic wielding followers with himself. He had been amazed at how easily this magic being had fallen to his will. He was roused from his thoughts when he saw this bear of a man readying an axe and preparing to rush the two animals. "Not yet!" He hissed, holding him back. "We can't let them find out what we're doing." The man growled . To which, the creature smiled. "They won't find her or the center of the Fens," he said, almost empathic, "I took that girl all over the Fens, making certain she wouldn't be easily found. " he could feel the man's gaze, as if pondering what he could get away with. "Go to the tower and keep her from signalling her spot away, and that means removing that apron she hanged up." The man growled, clearly mad that he was doing servants work, but obeyed. Taking the swift route on a shadow platform that drifted low. I will have to keep an eye on him... He turned back to the group, he knew they couldn't leave. They would tell, and the king would try putting him down, that's if the religious leaders didn't try first. He drifted silently to the main body of the group, speaking into the sayers mind through his brief hit. "They need you..." He thought it carefully, crafting it to fit the moment. "They will get themselves killed.." @Sorana @Steel Inquisitive @Vargo Seldon @ZincAboutIt @kenod @MacThorstenson @Invocation
  10. Okay, in that case it is working on this problem. For normal people, it would begin a slow infection, as a small jink of itself is in the victim, slowly corrupting the mind until it can get the host to the Fens, where the main body of the creature. As for your person, it would leave a small scar, and a small thread of itself inn the wound, slowly draining his mind, tricking him into going further into the Fens. Did this help?
  11. So the way I see it doing that is by having it's followers believe the intended target is something. Like having ten people start the process, then when they have it rock solid and they believe it, they will present said person to the rest of the Fens, convincing them and making them believe it too. Though that could be off on how natural magic works, I'll have to double check it.
  12. As of right now, it is establishing itself as the alpha of the city, starting by forming small attack teams to take out troops and acquire weapons. It knows that it needs to make the common folk it's friends, so it intends to use Fritz as a way of saying it can protect and heal the locals(which is why it needs to keep an eye closely on @Sorana, to learn and understand how to do more permanent healing methods.). If that plan fails, it would, by that point have enough followers, trained and created through natural magic ( as in he has his followers believe and create monsters out of normal people, Reiner would have been one of the more early trial runs of that plan, but it ironing out the kinks, hence why it doesn't want people near the heart of the Fens), to stage his own assault on the city, resting control from Kuria altogether. The main thing @ZincAboutIt needs to worry about is a spike flying for your characters head. And @Vargo Seldon might be in a little trouble. Is everyone cool with where I am taking our dear deceptive friend?
  13. Two of three exited by a staircase, the third, however, walked forward and jumped off the edge. He watched her fall, keeping an eye on her face, she showed no fear, no doubt that he would catch her. He sent a tendril after her, catching and placing her on the streets below. With her secure, and the healer soon to get to work, he left, mostly. He allowed a small thread of himself to linger, to study what she did. He had more uses from this than one would think, for although he could do patch jobs, he couldn't truely heal. He figured if he could learn from a healer, perhaps it could finish what he planed. @Sorana
  14. He thought for a moment, then nodded, "very good. I knew you where smarter than the rest." His mind trailed down one of his closer followers, and he ordered him to gather food, water, and to clear the highest roof the Fens had. As the follower did what he commanded, he turned back to the boy and the healer. I will have to get her name soonner or later. He moved a layer of darkness under her and the boy, and lifted them above the shadows of the Fens. It was night, the sun had set an hour ago. He carried her and the boy to the top of the highest structure the Fens had. He was impressed at how fast it had been cleared, they were currently bringing food and water to place to side. " Will these be sufficient? " he asked, gesturing to the space of the roof, the food and water, and the three younger women who had arrived with more medical supplies, "these three are to help you in any way you need. But if you wish to leave the building, I shall have to give you a mark to keep my followers from taking you as a threat." @Sorana
  15. "Well, for a start, I would return this child to where I found him." He said, "he is too young to undergo the process." It had changed it's eye color to a lighter shade of blue, casting his own pale light against the boy. He lifted him gently, and brought him closer to the woman. this kid had better do his part, or I am going make sure he wished to die. "Perhaps we should make a deal. If you can heal this boy and those that are here, I will address them, and give them a choice: they can stay and help their families here, or walk away from me. Is that a deal you would except?" In another part of the Fens, he saw his followers surprise two guards. They fought until Karl stepped forward. He looked at the shadows around himself and the guards, and with a flick of his wrist, sent two spikes of shadows into the guard's. They grunted, starring in terror at the spikes in them now, then the shadows engulfed them, dropping armor and weapons, and whisking them to the center of the Fens. He had made sure he didn't take this healer to the center of the Fens, she would see what he was really up to, then she would never help willingly. @Sorana
  16. Now why would it kill her? If that was it's plan, not would he waste time taking her somewhere, and not just snap her neck?
  17. The creature hissed, sending a wave of darkness pooling around them, it's tendrils grasping at junk and waste and hurtling at the company. Then Mutig saw it's wave of shadows wash over Amara... And she was gone. Mutig blinked, it snarled it's tendrils around Algorath, grabbing his arms and forcing him down, readying a tendril to stab him with. The creature was brutal, but not dumb. It had learned the trick or slipping it's prize away from his foes without them seeing, as far as the rest where concerned, he had taken their healer. They would assume it had either tortured her for information, or to snack on. He dropped her in the middle of a dark room, letting her eyes adjust to her surroundings. In the dark, he had wrapped multiple victims, slowly draining them of life, but he had more purposes than just food. With dead, uninjured hosts, he could journey through the city, see his handy work unfold. It looked at her, the healer, and changed his tone to a more gentle, fatherly tone. "I think we got off on the wrong foot." he said, repeating himself from earlier. "I didn't want to bring you here like this, but time is of the essence." He focused , changing to a large, yet compact version of a spider, only he hadn't gotten the walking style down, so it just drifted, letting it's front legs pull him along. It went to one wrapping, and gently lowered its occupant to the ground. It was a male child, he turned the boy to expose the knife wound, and where he had done his best to patch him up. "This boy needs help I can't give him, so I needed you." The creature hated trying to convince nicely, so he distracted himself by searching, with his mind, the Fens. He saw Karl, his soon eyes and ears on the field. He saw its followers gathering, choosing which patrols would fall tonight. He even watched as the company he had just finished dealing with struggled against him. that sayer has sat long enough, he thought, sending a tendril towards him, aiming for his throat. @Sorana @Vargo Seldon @MacThorstenson @ZincAboutIt
  18. @Sorana, I have an idea of how to get you to Fritz, but it does involve you consent. It would drag you to its liar, and order you to heal him, and possibly some others that it has.
  19. The creature recoiled hissing. It's eyes now shown blood red. Mutig felt something in him, and shuttered, realizing how bad the situation was. He felt the shadows that had been mending his ribs, and felt them moving towards his heart, closing just enough to make him unstable. "Put it away!" The creature snapped, "or I'll kill him here and now." It seemed as if it had thrown away a mask, it's voice no longer soothing, reverting to a more guttural bark. other tendrils snapped towards Algorath, disappearing just before being hit, than reappearing and hiting, it aimed for his head. It shot out another tendril, aiming and catching Amara by the throat, pinning her against a wall, slowly tightening it's grip. @Sorana @Steel Inquisitive @Vargo Seldon @Turtle373 @Invocation @ZincAboutIt @kenod
  20. Mutig watched, thinking through what had happened. Then it clicked. "You sly little fox!" He bellowed , making it focus on him again. "You made it so someone will HAVE to go with you, and insured the light won't be as effective, by having me as your own meat shield!" He cursed himself, why did I let it do that!?! The creature looked at Mutig, a smile now clear on it's face. It seemed confident that it was in control now. "Honestly, I'm surprised that you even allowed me to get close right after having a brief fight with me. Especially when I had given you that injury." It looked towards Amara, all pretense of friendship gone. It's voice Now took a snuck, knowing tone, as if it Now held the upper hand. "Now, where were we? Ah yes, you and the bear where about to follow me, while the rest figured out how to stop my little Karl before he can start uniting gangs to stage a brief assault against the city guard. Combine their lust to impress me, and my presence through the boy, they will kill several this time around." It looked almost apologetic about what it said, looking towards Aldred. "After all, we both know what a little Faith in ones master can do for his followers, wouldn't you agree?" @Sorana @Steel Inquisitive @Vargo Seldon @Turtle373 @Invocation @kenod @ZincAboutIt
  21. Shh! Spoilers could happen! They can't know about mink!
  22. "I've been here for the better part of a year now." It responded , letting her walk around him, then it turned towards Algorath. And smiled. "Its been a long time since I've seen a hybrid." Its shadowed figure dissolved, reforming into thick shadows around Algorath, studying him. "Where is the pack?" @Vargo Seldon @kenod
  23. I was thinking when it had first attacked, it was more a mindless attack, like it was there, it knew what was happening, but at the same time it was somewhere else. When it got pushed back, it took more notice and decided to send a small fraction of it's own mind to lure us into its trap. If you where to stab it (the shadow with us), it would immediately realize how much of a threat it could be facing, even if we aren't aware yet. In regards to wounds, it would feel the stab wound, but it would be able to cover it up, being made of shadows and all. At least, that's what I think would happen, you guys may have other ideas or plans. @kenod
