  1. Turjan nods and heads over to the other door, and examines it for a moment. He then holds on to the ring and then pushes it forward. The door creaks open a bit, and then you see him pull backwards on it, a quick look of shock cross his face, and then he jumps backwards from the door, letting go of the handle. The door continues to slide until it's fully open on its own, revealing the same sort of black barrier as in the other door. "It would seem that once the door has started to open, it's going to open no matter what we want." He pulls off his backpack and pulls out a thin rod of wood, "Time to use my trusty old 10-ft. pole." With that, he sticks the tip into the inky blackness, and attempts to pull backwards, but the pole doesn't budge. He lets go, and pole floats in mid-air, attached to the dark barrier. "Huh. That's odd", he comments before pushing the pole in a little further. "It goes in all right, but it won't come back out, it would seem. Looks like these doors happen to be a one-way trip." (In regards to acid on the hinges, hinges have 30 HP and a hardness of 10, but the acid would ignore the hardness. So to break off the hinges, you would need to deal 30 points of damage to it, which is a lot of spells to use up to destroy them, at least at level 1)
  2. The hinges look like fairly standard hinges, and appear to be made of iron. As far as pulling the door back, that may prove a bit difficult because the black barrier moves all the way up to and overlaps a little bit on the very back of the hinges, meaning that in working with them, even the slightest slip could cause you to touch the black barrier.
  3. Turjan shrugs, "Fair enough. Let's see what's behind door number one!" With that, he pushes lightly on the door. As he pushes the door, the edge disappears into a blackness that lies just beyond. You allow the door to open completely and watch as more and more of it is swallowed up in the barrier until only its hinges are visible. Peerng cautiously into the darkness for signs of movement, you see nothing. Even your ears can only detect the breathing of your fellow adventurers. The dark space reveals nothing of what lies beyond. Staring curiously, Turjan goes on, "Well...that's definitely...different."
  4. Eerongal: Glancing askance at River, i start, "I suppose, in some ways at least, perhaps there are similarities. I distrust you because of our circumstance of meeting, which was less than favorable for my trust of you, to be sure. As for my companions, I'm certainly not very well acquainted with them, I'll admit, however, the whole reason they are in this mess is squarely my fault. Regardless of their character, their protection falls specifically within my duty to uphold. It's less a matter of honor, and more a matter of following through with what I started." Turning to Keep, I answer one of his questions, "As far as similarities, Keep, my friend, simply owning an expensive bauble is no more a basis of camaraderie than a cat and dog who happen to be in possession of identical slabs of meat. If simply owning a sphere made one into a good person, then I would advocate a sphere for every man, woman and child. Unfortunately, this is not the case. A spheremorph is no different from the man he was prior to donning the grid, for whatever good or ill this indicates. As for drinks, i think I have had plenty for the moment, thank you."
  5. You notice nothing of note. The room seems to be very barren and hold no particular secrets that you notice. ****** After about 10 minutes or so Turjan announces that he has finished. "There aren't any traps that I can find on the doors or anywhere in the room. The doors also don't appear to be locked in any capacity. I haven't tried opening one yet. There's no sound whatsoever coming from the other side, either, that I can tell. On the bright side, it seems to me that this room is particularly safe, if nothing else." "Anyone have any objections to me opening the door?" He walks up and fiddles with the handle on the door straight ahead. He pauses a moment and considers, "Or do we want to explore the other door first?"
  6. No worries. Nothing of real note has come up yet.
  7. I'm totally gonna sign up for like 20 Eero accounts now. Alternate which i post on with every post. It will be awesome. But yeah, almost all downvotes i've seen usually has someone come along and cancel them out. To date, I haven't seen any abuse of them.
  8. Glad i don't work with this guy... (Warning: Filled with quite a bit of fake blood and gore)
  9. You exit the dark and yes, dank, narrow passageway to emerge onto a worked stone floor Looking about, you see that you have entered a large square chamber hewn completely from stone. You notice two iron doors, one to your side and the other in front of you. Otherwise there are no other features of interest in the stone. (also, speaking of darkness, it is pitch black for those who don't have dark vision, so I will assume that Turjan lit up a torch) Upon entering the room, Turjan speaks up, "Well, I suppose I will set about checking these doors." And with that, he moves over to the door directly in front of you and begins searching for traps. (FYI, he's taking a 20 checking the doors and the room for traps, so it will take him a few minutes to get this done. You guys can feel free to do what you want, or just chatter amongst yourselves, if no one has anything they want to do, i'll just resolve his trap checking.)
  10. As you all make your way into the cave, you notice nothing out of the ordinary, or anything particularly alarming. (I'm assuming you all are going to head into the tunnel in the cave now, since that appears to be where everyone is going now.) The tunnel winds into the mountain, its ceiling some 6 ft high and 5 ft wide at the widest. After about 100 ft. or so, the tunnel opens into a larger room, cut from stone and built, rather than dug.
  11. Other than the giant's possessions, nothing else in the vicinity glows with any magic.
  12. So apparently google I/O sold out in 20 minutes this morning. For those who don't know, Google I/O is google's yearly developer conference. They're infamous for giving away free swag that outpaces the cost of the tickets (such as a google chromebook and a Galaxy tab 10.1 from last year) so the tickets usually go fast. This beats last year, which sold out in an hour. The prices were also raised from $450 to $900, so i kinda wonder what exactly they're giving out this year....
  13. looks like its going to be moraine vs rake in the next round provided some sort of upset in either match. Both have a very significant lead against their opponents.
  14. every open source project ive ever seen has a window binaries version, including linux staples like gimp and gzip (though i wont outright say that ALL do, because that likely isn't true). the only people im aware of who dont develop their software for windows are people who have a proprietary reason not to (i.e. apple doesn't make windows versions of all of their software)
  15. windows here, because it's basically what i "grew up on" (from MS-DOS to 3.1 to 95 to 98 to sadly ME, to XP, to 7), though I dabble with Linux. Also, I prefer windows because its what basically everyone develops for
  16. (FYI, due to the number and size of the documents, carrying them around is going to be fairly futile. They would weigh in excess of 500 pounds, or about 226 kg depending on which system you prefer. I won't try to dissuade you, but that's a whole lot of dead weight to carry around for no real purpose.)
  17. The tracks appear to originate from just about every sort of creature you can imagine, and even several you don't recognize. You notice humanoid footprints, goblin, troglodyte, troll, and the list goes on. Many of the footprints are too muddled up in the chaos to discern. It would seem that the entrance to this dungeon has been very popular, and not just among the people from the near by cities. ******************** After about an hour of studying the papers, Turjan announces that he's done the best he can. "Like i said, this appears to be some ancient form of Giant," he starts, "I couldn't make out a whole lot of specifics, but it appears to be sort of like a diary or journal." Pointing out a few figures in the headings, he continues "However, judging by the dates recorded, if I assume the ones that appear to be the latest dates to be relatively recent, say within the past few years or so, then these entries would collectively span well over several millennia." Paging through a few more pieces, he goes on, "This would explain why the language he spoke was nothing like what the language is today. As far as the actual content, that would take months and access to a huge library to even begin to discern, if it's even possible. The language is significantly more complex than modern day Giant."
  18. Mmmm... Time for some ribs (@ Jethro's BBQ w/ 2 others) http://t.co/nrSi3Tic

  19. You notice nothing out of the ordinary. Beyond the body of the titan is a single cave that winds down into the earth. The cave is low and shallow, obviously dug by small crude hands. Many footprints mark the dirt, and debris litters every corner. In the back of the cave, a narrow tunnel, poorly lit, leads deeper. (FYI - only a character with trap finding can find traps generally, as most have a DC over 20. But spotting for danger is always a good idea, anyways.)
  20. Oh, internet. Randomly surfing you always turns up the best of things. I totally remember this show from when i was a kid (though i'm relatively sure that up to now they were repressed memories)
  21. yeah, you can't riot specific fears or anything AFAIK. It's basically rioting fear, you can't riot "fear of the one power" Would be interesting to see what strobing emotions would do.
  22. You sure? Everywhere i look up says you can. for example: here and here and here and i could go on, but you get my point Edit: am i maybe thinking of a rule that applies to only positive numbers or something?
  23. The huge chain mail and halberd worn by the giant man give off a strong magical aura of no particular school, however nothing else appears to glow. You find no other belongings other than more huge pieces of paper. He appears to have all ready been picked clean of anything that would be of value.
