  1. It's mostly just a Kandra cultural taboo. The spikes do keep a piece of the Identity of the person whom the attribute was taken from, so it makes sense Kandra would be able to discern between them. That said, the only reason I can think of for ReLuur rejecting the spike is that he knew it wasn't his and in his madness was simply too disgusted to do anything but reject it. There is no realmatic reason that we've heard for Kandra not being able to share spikes.
  2. Spikes can be used by anyone as long as they're put in the right place. There is no specific requirement for using a spike.
  3. I think the parsh are supposed to be more crustation than reptilian. They also seem to exist more in the cognitive realm than most creatures, which is not a trait we've seen ascribed to dragons.
  4. ....... Have a completely known origin.... Frost however.....
  5. I'm fairly certain the first Radiant Oath stands against that idea entirely. Let's just be clear for posterity. None of us are advocating tyranny. Sanderson himself is not advocating tyranny. We're just saying, in the case of an immortal packman who briefly ascended to godhood in order to prevent the destruction of an entire planet, and then enslaved the world to ensure that said destruction continued to be averted, it kind of all worked out in the end. When you put in text, Rashek's plan really does seem rather overly complicated and random.
  6. Certainly that's what Fuzz seems to think.
  7. Really, as much as I make fun of Rashek for being the Cosmere equivalent to Superman and yet getting killed so easily, we can't ignore that he was an administrative genius. He may have not been a good leader or king, but when it came to paperwork, the dude was amazing. Granted, he probably was able to do some scouting via allomancy. Flying across his empire to take note of areas of super high metal ore and all that. But still, the man was very good at what he did.
  8. Because I'm a nerd who has read the Lord of the Rings.
  9. This post marks my 111st post and the 2 month mark since I joined the Shard. So, I figure I am no longer a 17th Shard noob. So, I figure at this point y'all might have seen my name around and gotten to have some idea of my existence (basically I have met the requirements of having a cognitive identity) and I figured maybe people would be interested in getting to know me. So, ask me anything, but I do retain the right not to answer.
  10. Then Google lied to me. But the point still stands.
  11. I imagine soulcasting antimatter would be supremely difficult, up to a certain level of scientific development, and then it would be rather simple. To soulcast, the object you're trying to transform has to have enough cognitive identity to be "bargained with." In a world that doesn't know about atoms, you'd have to convince a whole object to become the complete opposite of what it is. In a world with scientific knowledge of quarks, you just have to convince the strange quark of a proton to become an up quark, and you've created an antiproton. Not sure how you could create positrons though. I don't know leptons that well and don't want to spend a long time googling it.
  12. Nalthis had some people that basically said, "Let's stuff a piece of metal full of investiture." And created Nightblood. Scadrial had a guy that basically said, "Let's stuff a piece of many metals full of investiture." And created the Bands of Mourning. Roshar, very often says, "Let's take a bunch of living investiture and turn it into metal." What I'm saying is, it doesn't seem all too complicated to create super weapons within the Cosmere.
  13. The problem with that theory, at least as far as aluminum is concerned, is that we've seen it resist investiture in all three realms. Physical: Aluminum cannot be allomatically moved. Cognitive: Aluminum cannot be soulcast into something else. Spiritual: Aluminum cannot be soulstamped.
  14. Now, an Elantrin might be able to find a combinations of Aons that release enough kinetic investiture at a quick enough rate to prevent the Aons from collapsing, but considering how quickly Nightblood eats, it would not be an easy task.
  15. I think mass producing gems would be like trying to mass produce artistic masterpieces. Yeah, you can maybe have a few people in a generation that are talented enough to produce masterpieces, but even assuming an abundance of Radiants, you'd still be hard pressed to find enough who are capable of doing it to industrialize it. Ultimately, finding ways to farm gemhearts would probably be more profitable in the long run than constantly trying to find and train new people talented enough to soulcast gems.
  16. Well I have now finished Oathbringer. Good book, lots of implications. Also, for all y'all complaining about some specific characters deaths, y'all are weird.

  17. Yes, but that's if it's just Edo. We've never seen it used with modifiers to see if that can change. Since Aons are like programming, an apt simile would be saying that seeing Edo used on it's own is like seeing a program with only an else statement.
  18. It's still a bit messy, but I do really appreciate it.
  19. Hello people's of the 17th shard. I'm not sure if this is the place for this post, but it seemed the best fit. So basically, I'm looking to get a new profile picture, and I'd like to have one that's a combination of the blue Lantern symbol and the skybreaker glyph. I have some drawing skill, but I would like to have a more digital looking picture. So basically, I'm asking for some help with making this. This isn't an official commission, just a request. Attached is my quick drawing of kind of what I'm looking for. I appreciate any help y'all are willing or able to give, even if it's just advice or feedback. Yes, I know I need more practice drawing glyphs.
  20. Or he's using allomancy to lower people's suspicion of him.
  21. I think I made a mistake in following this thread this morning...
  22. ... Okay. I guess this is a thing. I feel like this thread is a good example of why the myth of sisyphus exists. But I suppose if y'all want to devote time and effort into a thread that will inevitably turn into memes, it just gives me an opportunity to expand my power on the shard while y'all aren't looking. When a game can't be won (though I'm sure the post after this will be claiming they have) perhaps the best thing to do is let it play out. In other words, I'm following this post, and getting popcorn.
  23. Silver is more conductive than copper. Copper is just used more because it's cheap.
  24. Picked up the Oathbringer paperback yesterday (if you can call something this big anything less than a textbook) and now I'm going to start it. I'll finally not have to keep dodging spoilers.
