  1. Sentient awakened elf on the shelf with the command, "Report evil."
  2. Vin gave Elend one of her vials of metal flakes to wash down the lerasium bead as it was the only liquid she had to help him swallow it. There would have been pewter in there.
  3. It might work if you're burning as you get hit. What I find more likely is that it would just cancel the blade's super soul cutting. You'd still be getting hit by a giant and very sharp sword, it just wouldn't kill you any more than a normal sword would. Maybe. I kind of doubt it though.
  4. For having a disorienting profile picture.
  5. The thing is, compounding works because the feruchemists body is like, "Feruchemical strength, yeah, I know what that is, I can do that." And then the allomatic energy fuels a power the person's body already has. The same can't be said of breath. The body doesn't recognize breath as something it can replicate. Now, a returned might have a different effect. I could almost see a returned trying it and their body going, "Oh, breath, I remember having that at one point." And the breath might properly reattach itself to the returned, preforming the same job their divine breath does. But that's all just speculation.
  6. I'm being somewhat hypothetical. I'm not saying you could literally step through an aon into the cognitive realm. I'm just saying that based on the principles of how aons work, it's not a stretch to imagine modifying aons to work in such a way. I'm not sure it would be simple, but I have no doubt it's possible Secret History Spoiler:
  7. I agree the old lady looks slightly evil, but might it be possible that she just looks old?
  8. Aons most likely have a way to create an entertance to the cognitive realm. I specify an entertance, because technically all aons are little portals to the cognitive realm that focus the Dor as it pours out. Considering that fact, it is likely possible to modify an aon such that it stays open and is in such a condition that physical matter could pass through. That being said, Sel's cognitive realm isn't exactly a great place to be, and is slightly less than habitable.
  9. Correct me if there's another discussion on this, but I couldn't find one. I was thinking about the King's Drop, and how it still emits light, despite supposedly never loosing stormlight. More than that, no one comments on it being dim, but rather is seems that it emits a level of light that would be expected on an imperfect gem of its size. That led me to the conclusion that the light we see gems emit through the series must not be stormlight. Now yes, it seems that the brightness of the light is directly proportional with the amount of stormlight inside the gem, but that still makes sense. I am now thinking, that stormlight within a gem must have a reaction with the molecular structure of the gem that causes the electrons to get excited, and thus emit light. Kind of like how a synthetic diamond made of radioactive carbon-14 produces electricity as the radiation bounces off the diamond's structure. (see this article of more on that) Of course, if this was talking about normal energy, the stormlight would be loosing a small amount of investiture whenever it bounces off the molecules and creates light, and thus the gem would eventually fade. I have two ideas for why the King's Drop stayed invested for so long though. 1. The amount of investiture used in the creation of light is minuscule in comparison to the overall investiture within the stormlight, so it would take a very very long time for the gem to go dim. And considering the gem was only sealed away for 200 years, if the reaction I'm talking about really is comparable to radiation, that's basically no time at all. 2. Investiture might be able to cause physical reactions without loosing some of itself to those reactions. I'm a bit reluctant on this because it has impacts on the whole, investiture parallels the laws of thermodynamics thing, as it would basically mean investiture ignores the second law of thermodynamics and maybe the first. Either way, that's my idea, what do y'all think?
  10. Because there is a collection of novellas, I count them all in the same book. The order I recommend is very similar to published order (with exceptions): Elantris Warbreaker Mistborn (Final Empire, Well of Ascension, Hero of Ages, Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, Bands of Mourning) Way of Kings Words of Radiance Ars Arcanum Oathbringer I basically followed this order, except for me Elantris and Warbreaker came after the first Mistborn trilogy, but a friend has been following this order and says he appreciated it.
  11. Assuming kinetic investiture works like kinetic energy, then stormlight stored within gems is still kinetic investiture. It's just rather limited in where it can move, causing it to bounce around and create "heat." I highly doubt a larkin could consume non kinetic investiture. Unfortunately, fused would not count as kinetic investiture, as the Investiture attached to their soul would likely count as being innate. (This conversation is reminding me why I hate the physics definition of energy, but that's a tangent.) If there was a way to convert the Investiture sustaining the fused into kinetic investiture, the larkins could eat it, but just the conversion would probably kill a fused anyway. As with Calderis said, if larkins could consume innate investiture, they'd probably predatory rather than consuming stormlight, as they'd be able to eat the "souls" of everything. They'd also be a lot bigger, closer to tradtional dragons in size, due to a supluss of food. In summary, just because investiture is obviously mobile does not make it kinetic investiture, and just because investiture is not obviously mobile does not make it non kinetic. My bet is larkins can only eat kinetic investiture. Fused would not be made of kinetic investiture.
  12. That's not a joke, it just doesn't exist.
  13. I believe Sanderson has stated, and I'm going to paraphrase this and hope Calderis corrects me later, that f-gold really stores, "The body's ability to conform to it's spiritual ideal." Basically, gold isn't really health (just like chromium isn't really luck) but rather, it has the effect of improving health.
  14. It would actually be really interesting if f-gold wasn't as effective on the disease, but could treat it's symptoms. You could potentially have it where people are constantly balancing tapping and storing to keep their natural immune systems weak enough to not be able to beat the sickness, but they don't display any symptoms because the gold heals any damage the infection causes.
  15. I've only been on this website for a few months.
  16. It was purely his copperminds that provided him the information he used to fix the world, yes.
  17. I'm sorry, but are you suggesting that instant noodles and the internet would be down the same Civ tech tree? Also, are you just downright saying the internet is noodles?
  18. Read Secret History. If you don't know who that is, you really don't want us to tell you.
  19. Seeker. I'm good with that. Might help me find a highspren to get flight from.
  20. People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big bowl of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey noodles.
  21. Haha! House HSuper rises!
  22. It doesn't seem like a great idea to throw down with an Intent warped shard named Ruin with anything less than another full shard. I don't know how much power the avatars of Autonomy may have, but even when weakened, Ruin is not to be underestimated. While yes, I think Preservation would be a pushover in the fight, Fuzz was basically acting on instinct and pre-planning at the time, and I don't think he could have stepped up to stop Ruin from stopping an outside the planet threat. Furthermore, if anything could have convinced Ruin and Preservation to act together (or just for Fuzz to not act against Ruin) it would be to protect their shared creation (in Ruin's case so that he could destroy it himself later.)
  23. Ah, so we're in wild baseless theory territory. Excellent. *Clears throat* Clearly, he's Trell, and was trying to figure out if it was time to invade Scadrial yet, but decided that Ruin and Preservation were still too strong and active to take action yet. So, he waited for the past 300 years, until Sazed got warped by Harmony's Intent, and it's now harder for him to take action.
  24. This should probably be in Cosmere Discussions. Regardless, do we have a description of him?
