  1. Do we have evidence that Adonalsium existed from the beginning? Is it possible that there was a cycle of shatterings and reunifications?
  2. Unfortunately things going solid does not release cold, it releases heat in the physical sense. Try solidifying a glass of water with ice cubes in it. While the cubes grow, temperature will not fall below freezing.
  3. She picked her spren up while she was still in Stormform. She even changed her form with her spren around. The spren seems pretty independent. It would be very interesting to see which form she would go to with only her Willshaper spren. Pretty dangerous experiment though.
  4. I think we just saw the trees the branch in Mraize's trophy collection comes from.
  5. You'd need to ask why they display red eyes, even though they would not need to.
  6. "t" and "th" are related sounds though. All you need is a rule for the language to realize word final th as t. Or th only before vowel. Or indeed to argue that Warbreaker is centuries later and a sound change happened. As for the first Returned, Edgli would not return her brother in public, would she?
  7. Trell and Nalt were brothers. (According to Sazed in The Final Empire). Nalt points toward Nalthis. We also have the thing with the red eyes, which means relatively little except that another shard is involved. And we have Trellian faceless immortals. Who has that power? Lightweavers from Yolen Lightweavers from Roshar The Returned In fact the returned fit best as they change physically. So how about we take this legend literally? Trell is the brother of Nalt, whom Nalthis is named after, and Edgli. We also have Miles Hundredlives involved with Trell, who healed, some argue, beyond the point his feruchemy should have allowed. Who has the best healing in the Cosmere? Actually Endowment in form of divine breaths - Stormlight or, presumably, feruchemical gold would not have healed Susebron, as his mutilation was decades old. If you had siblings and were a shard, would you just let them die from old age? I guess the answer would generally be negative. So Trell became a Returned and is acting as Endowment's agent.
  8. I would take that as confirmation that her threat level is one notch up. Anybody else we saw him meet so far is like a fight of a toddler against a man to him. He can shrug them off. Jasnah is not a danger, but he would be forced to strike back for real.
  9. I will face all facts, comfortable or uncomfortable.
  10. Jasnah's heir is a child, who has spent, at a minimum, months under the care of a mother in thrall of dark forces (two unmade) with unknown consequences for himself and his mental health. The next in line are either politically impossible, known widely as strange or actively fighting in the field. All of them are childless or their wife is at an age that makes more children unlikely. Hence Jasnah may not need a husband, but she does need a child.
  11. The spren are based on native Rosharan life, which pupates. The shard plate is the PR version of a spren silk cocoon like you see in some ants.
  12. The ALethi language has a lot of vowels. Look at a word like "adoda". It is unlikely that stress changes the vowels a lot in such a language.
  13. He was enslaved for personal debt. But why wouldn't banks take human collateral?
  14. What about the Elsecallers and the Dustbringers? It would be very interesting to see what Malata has sworn, as it still allows her to cooperate with Taravangian against the rest of the Radiants.
  15. Do you need intent to make the physical Aon? For activation it looks like intent is needed, but different creators can cooperate in making an Aon or Elantris couldn't have been fixed.
  16. Yes. Technically an object of any shape seems to be producable by Aons. That would include the Aons themselves.
  17. Well, can you make an Aon that creates objects containing the shape of Aon, powering that shape, so that the Aon has a magical effect?
  18. Can you make an Aon that makes Aons and powers them?
  19. Skyeels, chasmfiends and Parshendi counter that assumption. So many native life forms of Roshar living in symbiosis with Spren virtually makes certain that spren predate the shattering of Adonalsium. In fact it says that they are millions if not billions of years old. It is possible that the arrival of humans created new types of spren, but many of them must be ancient.
  20. He planned for the survival of mankind on Scadrial in case of his own demise. In the CR people could survive for some time, even if Scadrial's surface became uninhabitable. And in case of a catastrophe, they could march into exile.
  21. If the fight takes a long time, the allomancer has an advantage. His reserves don't decay. The blade and perhaps the plate, however, work even without stormlight. So can allomancers block them? And the surgebinder is most unlikely to surprise a mistborn, as using stormlight is detectable with allomancy.
  22. They were made cheaper, not invented a short time ago. A reanimated elephant, or whatever be the largest animal they have access to, could carry quite a lot. And even if House Venture as a whole did not know about the Cosmere, why would TLR himself be so ignorant? He held the power of a shard for some time. In fact a hideout in the CR may have been his ultimate bunker.
  23. True until the late Middle Ages. Then armor progressed to the point swords lost the race and we saw increased uses of warhammers and polearms. A sword as a piercing weapon has the basic disadvantage that it cannot be swung if you want to pierce. Thus something on a longer lever basically won. Now shard plate is different. It cannot be pierced in a sense. The failure mode is shattering. Hence it is unclear to me whether the basic principle of a bullet, a lot of force on a small area, would work at all. You may need a lot of force, full stop. Unless you have a shard blade (taken from the enemy) the best option on Scadrial may be a gigantic hammer with aluminium plating to be swung by a pewterarm.
  24. Most feruchemic metals have severe drawbacks as materials for swords and armor. Gold armor would be unbearably heavy for example. If you use aluminium there is no need to build the whole armor or weapon out of it. A surface layer would do the job. It is unclear how good a steel you would be allowed to use. An alloy with a lot of manganese or chromium likely won't work feruchemically.
  25. That really depends on unknown factors. Can a coppercloud block soulcasting? Can you leech through shard plate? What happens to the plate if you leech it? Does it lock up?
