  1. Recycling? He is partially using it up for fuel.
  2. He does not need to. He can lash the knife and himself in opposite directions. Whether he would have the presence of mind is a different question. But in principle the problem is solvable.
  3. But the Fused are not Dullform, are they? So what happens if a Regal died and was made a Fused? The more reason his body cannot be adapted to the Surge, if the Form is determined by his old Form. Yet they have Forms.
  4. They are running on a different fuel. The timing won't fit. How long before the encounter did Kaladin fly in? A few hours at most. Yet the Fused arrived with a squad of soldiers. Even if the watchman had a spanreed, the special Fused must have been ready and close by. Had he not walked, where are the flying Fused who had transported him? They were warned in advance.
  5. The Fused soul is enough to reestablish its old Form. Why can't that be a Form of Power if that was the original Form the Fused bore when he became a CS? All other Fused use the exact Surge as Surgebinders use it. Why did the watchman survive under those circumstances?
  6. One more thing, how clever is Sylphrena really? And Kaladin for that matter? He was flying and observed while the fog lifted. Yet somebody is supposed to describe him to the point that he has a shash brand on his forehead? You want to tell me that some bored watchman saw Kaladin so clearly that he could describe him to the point of recognising a glyph on his forehead? And frankly how many Singers can read glyphs? And he reported it so fast that they could make a drawing and got a Fused who cannot fly to the town? Nope, I am sorry that sighting was arranged to cover their spy.
  7. His body is suspiciously well adapted to his role. That is what forms do. Oath gates do not leave dead bodies behind and the transition is so fast that it is not noticed. Jasnah escaping into Shadesmar did not leave a crumbling corpse behind. Conclusion: That is not Transportation. We are seeing a Form of Power, who is a Fused at the same time.
  8. That form of teleportation looked very different from what Jasnah or oath gates do. And why does that Fused have horns? I would say that that Fused is something extraordinary. We are seeing a Fused who is also a Regal. Also the flying Fused do not carry reserves of Voidlight.
  9. 6 minutes left - so I'll be brief. A field test on an important mission with Navani on board? Kind of reckless.
  10. Why do they need a flying ship to evacuate a group of five people?
  11. It is very doubtful whether a man like Kaladin is aware of his own political worth. Or cares about it, for that matter. And it is hard on a man to be alone for years. Especially during times of blood and death. Improved, yes. Improved to the same degree with realistic prospects, no. She would be in effect a general's wife again. The chances for such a position by any other way are dim.
  12. Why would plan A require a meeting in a town the Singers hold and guard? Why not just meet at some nice distinct rock formation?
  13. Stormlight & food. And lack of transport. There is no free water or food in Shadesmar. They are limited to what they can condense out of the air and can carry, unless they make contact with spren or people ready to carry humans. So unless they have a perfect gem they have a few weeks until death from thirst until they have to make contact with spren.
  14. You are already a Mistborn and do not trust the future recipient of the alloy sufficiently to dare make him or her a Mistborn. Or you want to retain the bulk of the metal for other uses or trade.
  15. OK, we can just as well speculate on this. How are they going to do it? That applies to two issues, how are they getting into and out of Shadesmar and how do they survive there? You need a way to get into Shadesmar. Obvious ones Cultivation's perpendicularity - occupied, hence problematic Honor's perpendicularity - where is it? Dalinar does Unity again - you'd light a gigantic signal beacon an oath gate - they are blocked the Surge of Transportation - [wild theory: the blade Adolin is holding on the Bulgarian cover is an Honorblade], can Jasnah elsecall somebody else? None of these options looks really good and tested. And how do they keep themselves alive? Do they go back to the lighthouse and transfer with a lot of supplies?
  16. Well, I was trying to follow Brandon's motto of showing not telling. The purpose of this piece was to get as dark as plausibly possible and to engineer general clashes. The concrete POD here is that Gavilar's research bore more fruits, including a device to renew the oath pact with new members who cannot return from Braize and a method of controlling Yelig-Nar with magic from the Purelake. Given these possibilities Amaram wins in Thaylen Fields and does a turn against Odium. Wasn't that the unique point of the Final Empire? Just extending and expanding.
  17. Tactically sound, operationally not. He is giving up the advantage of surprise. The Radiants first move could be a well aimed salvo of arrows against unprepared targets. No longer. He could still have hidden behind a rock and yelled at the Fused after the arrows have hit.
  18. Romantical? I am afraid the idea that all bonds of matrimony, let me put it that way, on a devastated and poor world like Roshar are determined by romantical motivations primarily, is wrong. Does Laral have children? Regardless, she is now a homeless, pennyless refugee on the run from the occupying authorities. And apparently she does have a certain ruthless practicality in such affairs.
  19. We are missing something. If Kaladin expected to be expected, why go in himself? If he did not expect that kind of reception, why bring so large a team, let alone Navani, if she is present? That can be explained only because they were planning something big. Do the Radiants suspect that they have a leak and this is a decoy operation to find the traitor? Kaladin revealing himself looks like he wants to draw their attention away from something. If he wanted to use tactical surprise, the first sign of him would have been a Shard Blade materializing in a big sweeping strike. So Kaladin probably is trying to make it look like he is reacting badly and does a mock retreat to draw the Fused into an ambush of his squires and other Radiants.
  20. If this was just an extract, why meet in a town at all? It looks to me like the hidden assumption of the relations between the Knights Radiant and the Herdazian Resistance being all that good is wrong. If Dalinar and Navani are present this points to extended negotiations. What he doesn't know they cannot torture out of him. He would get a cover story that is not all that plausible anyway. For a simple meeting and extraction any notable rock formation outside town would do.
  21. So, the copper mind states that Ars Arcanum is Latin for "mysterious art". Unfortunately it is not. Proper Latin would be "Ars Arcana", ars being a female noun. What is to be done?
  22. You need to adjust the eye color. Gavilar was surely lighteyed.
  23. Well, you are comparing a diagramm made quite some time ago to a book after multiple edits.
  24. The more I think about it, a Seeker. You'd really sense arcane stuff. As cool as flight is, there are helicopters.
  25. May I point out that Kaladin has torched her home? And that she may now be suspected to work for the Knights Radiant? In fact, the whole village may need to be evacuated. The policy the Fused have for getting one of their members killed in your town is unlikely to be nice.
