Moash used Stormlight in plain sight of Navani. Either he made a bad mistake, or he does not care about the Radiants knowing that he is carrying an Honorblade. This is extremely odd.

I am afraid Windrunners are generally operating below the minimum height for using a parachute. On a low-gravity world that is a bit lower, but they are operating very low. The parachute wouldn't unfold before impact.

Suppose Kaladin had had a habit of raping children. You are condemning Gaz for Amaram's crimes. Becoming a bridge man is a delayed, aggrevated death sentence. Nobody on Roshar would oppose that on principled grounds.
-
Suppose you were attacked by one of Kalad's Phantoms. If you were an allomancer capable of burning atium, would it have atium shadows?

4. Leras knew of the possiility of Lerasium before he cocreated Scadrial. And he always intended to make Mistborn. Apparently Allomancy was a mixture of deliberate design and natural, random tendencies. Leaving open the question how much of it came from Adonalsium. But if you assume design, there is no need to assume that Leras only cared about natural manifestations (or indeed about them at all)

Does Dalinar know about the Diagram? (OB spoilers)
Oltux72 replied to Faceless Mist-Wraith's question in Cosmere Q&A
I suppose Taravangian will have straight up volunteered the information gathered by the facility and also presented research on Desolations and the Unmade he has made. Running such a programme is ruthless in the extreme. Yet it is something that can be explained if you show information predicting a Desolation. Taravangian does not have to hide that the Diagramm exists. Only its exact content and that he has made a deal with Odium. In a pinch he could even admit to being a minor member. He just must keep secret that he wrote it and that he leads it. That can be simply achieved by leaking a few contradictory bogus versions of the Diagramm in fragments. The Blackthorn is just not in a position that would allow him to reject an ally for ruthlessness. -
One single Sleepless can hardly watch the whole coast. She must have colleagues. And did they leave the obstacles unrepaired?

But Honor died long after Aharietiam.

Runner-Fu? The use of arcane powers during unarmed combat
Oltux72 replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You don't have two. Windrunners have two Surges. You can use Adhesion on any part of a foe touching something and then lash the foe with Gravitation. If I glue your foot to the floor and then lash you upwards tenfold, the effect on your ankle, knee and hip won't be pleasant. I can also attch you to a moving object, suc as myself. -
Well, if you want speculation: The Sibling is Urithiru. He manifests as a building, not a Blade.
-
Or Jasnah's soulcaster. A very valuable artifact. That contains the unstated assumption that the killers found no intermediate use for the ship.
-
Well, he stays in material form longer. Whether this is strictly a consequence of ability or something else is an open question. Furthermore, reincorporating may not be free. Well, a ghost can't kill you. And we do not know in which form he stayed while Kaladin lost trace of him.
-
That we do not know. Turning himself immaterial may be free for all we know. Is this thing his actual body? Or is there a currently comatose Singer body in an armored carriage or vault waiting for his mind to return while he does this form of movement/teleportation in bodies specifically generated for that purpose?

This was done for translated versions. English is briefer than most languages. As this is done anyway, second covers are also available. It does not really seem to be a problem to me. Out of interest does anybody have statistics on the translations and tables about the specific terms? I saw Deshechados on cosmere.es. The Unmade? And in case we will ever talk about whether there are two or more of something, have there been translations into languages with a dual number?

Runner-Fu? The use of arcane powers during unarmed combat
Oltux72 replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Probably, but he would be using Adhesion and Gravitation. If you are keeping together two objects with Adhesion then they are by definition two objects. -
Does Gavilar have pain? Dalinar felt guilt about causing Evi's death. Gavilar would be angry mostly. But he does need a kingdom. And giving Kholinar and the rest of Alethkar to the Singers means giving that up.
-
Is it just me or did Brandon miss an epic opportunity to go all gory and grimdark on us? What happens to a Fused if you lash an appendage of his to your body with Adhesion and then lash his body away from you with quite some lashings and you lash your body in the other direction? Oh well, we also had Dalinar in Oathbringer use Adhesion to irreguarly end sparring. So which orders can use their Surges in hand-to-hand combat but require special techniques? Going hand-to-hand with a Dustbringer or Skybreaker looks like a painful form of suicide to me. But Adhesion and Abrasion are candidates IMHO. What else, Tension? Turn your enemies clothing rigid while you bash in his head?
-
Yet, is Gavilar a traitor? Would he truly fight to destroy Alethkar and kick his grandson of the throne? That seems contrary to all his ambitions.

(RoW Spoilers) What must it have been like
Oltux72 replied to BasementDwellingRadiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Frightening and breaking your heart. Even if they are on your side theoretically, you are the ant that gets trampled as the elephants fight. Yes, they are evacuating you. But that turns you into a landless refugee owning only what you can carry. During war time while food production is plumeting. -
A full-featured KR has Shard Plate. Nothing beats that. He may carry an additional rnged weapon, but other than that ther eis no point about thinking about improving his equipment. But the majority of them are squires and knights of fewer oaths. While they do heal, injuries can still slow them down. And they do have vulnerable parts like their heads and spines. So what should a squire wear? A helmet. Maybe they can recover from an arrow into the skull. ut they surely will suffer neurological deficits before they are healed. A chainmail hood. Your neck holds your windpipe and your spinal column. Damaging either will take you out of the fight. A sleveless body suit a chainmail possibly with some small plates over your spine. In fact if Rosharan manufacturing is up to it a version of those devices bikers wear for spinal protection. But they need to fly, you may say. That is the difference. They are not flying, they are falling. Weight they can lash does not matter except in terms of Stormlight consumption. But how do you arm them? That is very hard. The traditional weapon of Earth's pre-gunpowder armies is the spear. Humans you pierce a sufficiently large hole into are often going to die and will usually be unable to keep fighting. That will not work against Thunderclasts or the Fused. You need to hit brain, spine or gemheart. That suggests cutting weapons just to increase the probability of a hit.

Scadrial. Harmony does that to Pathians with an earring. Paalm did it. Roshar. The Stormfather's visions are essentially telepathy.

Our aircraft fight each other with guns and missiles. Our preferred position to kill an adversarial aircraft is behind it and often slightly above. This is because Bullets and missiles are much faster than aircraft Sight is best to the front, visually and by radar It is easier to aim the whole aircraft Your missile gets your speed and height To achieve that position you use maneuver. Aircraft differ in their characteristics for maneuvering by direction. It makes a difference whether you are going up and down versus left or right. Airplanes cannot turn on the spot. A user of gravitaion is quite different. They are failing, not flying aerodynamically. Hence: They can go into full reverse. Changing acceleration 180 degrees is an option. You cannot stall. Any attitude is possible in the air. You cannot be behind and above an enemy. Pursuit means that you are under an enemy. You cannot trade height for speed and vice versa. You are always at the very top and falling. You cannot roll with Gravitation The weapons are also quite different. Unless you are going straight down, any missile will always fall behind or sideways quickly, as it does not share your acceleration and the speed you can add to a spear is small compared to the speeds you are falling at. And good luck handling bow and arrow or a crossbow under these conditions. Naively I'd try to get into the position to stab an enemy into the back or to get into grappling range with you facing your enemy's back. Direct pursuit is a bad idea. Anything nasty he drops will hit you. Our maneuvers for air combat as far as they trading potential energy for kinetic energy, will not work.

Probably. Unlikely. Kaladin would have noticed that a Fused really has a much lower mass when fighting one in the air over Kholinar's walls. No Madaras around them in Shadesmar They can fly in Shadesmar I would say that that is the reason they have huge gem hearts. The supply has to last over a weeping without Highstorm. Generally, one Fused has one power. This looks like complicating things for no gain.

The real secret is that Wit/Hoid confirmed that those people really are the Heralds. Other than that you have a few sick people who occasionally claim that they are Heralds. There is quite a likelihood that Vorin people have jokes about people claiming to be Heralds, just like we have jokes about people claiming to be Napoleon or Jesus. You just let it be known that one of them has a Shard Blade yet kept dark eyes and Jasnah is investigating that. He would have to admit that he kept Heralds locked up and in an asylum. That may not be the best move. Taln stayed in his cell. You need not throw them into a dungeon. They will stay in Urithiru. They get an honor guard/wardens. Without their Blades they cannot leave. Which bigger part? Aharietiam hasn't been as final as assumed. The rest is still open. The revelation about Honor being dead is technically for now hearsay. Is that a religious or a political/social goal?

You cannot lash highly invested objects. That raises an issue. You presumably cannot lash a fully invested gem. That in turn imposes a fuel constraint on Windrunners and Skybreakers. Your fuel, or, if you want to be pedantic, your fuel tank, will always pull you down. With a normal lashing you can take off only if you weigh more than your gems, or you are forced to use multiple lashings on yourself. In addition your velocity would suck, as your vector would essentially need to be straight up. Hence there is a theoretical maximum takeoff weight ratio depending on your highest lashing.. In addition there is a maximum sensible takeoff weight, beyond which you could actually fly further if you decreased your load to avoid the cost of multiple lashings. Does anybody know how much Stormlight you can put into a gem stone? Can we try to compute a Windrunner's fuel consumption? Should they be wearing skintight swimsuits to increase their range?
