  1. Death by backwards breathing.
  2. Death by misprint in a programming book. I'll leave that to your imagination.
  3. So after I finish my rereads of Brandon's books (right now I've got half of WoK, most of Elantris, and have yet to start Warbreaker, and I'm not sure whether to get Alcatraz and reread that too) I'm planning on getting to some recommendations I've gotten. My current list kinda looks like this: The Hunger Games Kingkiller Chronicles Anything by Brent Weeks The Dresden Files City of Bones (which I started a while ago but didn't finish) Recommendations on what I should read next out of these?
  4. Well, yeah, that's half the point, heck, if not the whole point.
  5. Death by Sprenswarm!
  6. Death by url identifying rollover. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
  7. Cool, a bit scattered, wouldn't make a lot of sense to someone not familiar with the books (which is okay, since that's really the intended audience), but very cool. Now I can kinda see where people are coming from when they say they want Ellen Page as Vin. I still disagree, but I can see where they're coming from.
  8. Death by being obliterated by a suddenly appearing time machine. Completely expected.
  9. (small note: PLEASE change that from a code box: Like this. to a quote box: Just saying.) I really don't know, but I think that there's a few special things to consider. The first is the Shard dynamics involved. The unique effect of Endowment (and any companion Shards in the neighborhood) on the people of Nalthis has created Awakening as a magic system. Obviously, no one on Roshar is an Awakener, otherwise we would see it. But could a Rosharian, interacting with a Nalthisan, give away a portion of their soul as a Breath? Maybe. It depends on whether or not their SDNA in that regard is compatible, whether BioChroma is something unique, and not just a portion of the existing soul that has a way of being siphoned off. One test I can think of is whether or not someone with only one Breath has slightly higher than average attributes, specifically those obviously granted to those with large quantities of Breath, than someone from Roshar, who has no obvious Breath to give away. If so, then yes, BioChroma is a specific product of the magic system. The quote you're referring to really refers to more locally based systems, like AonDor, where Awakening on another planet is just a matter of bringing Breath with you.
  10. The question is how those piercings got a hemalurgic charge, that is, if they even needed to. This would make the idea of Sazed influencing Pathists through those earrings that much more plausible.
  11. Okay, I have to say that I was hoping to do that since coming up with this character. SO satisfying.
  12. Eerongal You can't put your finger on it, but there's something decidedly off about this situation. Whether it's the "this shouldn't be happening" fact, or the sudden appearance of a small child on a battlefield is hard to determine. One thing to note, is that her smile is blatantly creepy. She holds her hands behind her back, rocking her weight from one foot to the other, a somehow predatory grin camping under her dollish eyes. "Have you seen my bear, Tibbers?" Something behind you explodes, a fiery force smashing you in the back and nearly off your feet as you struggle to remain upright in spite of the surprise. "Tibbers!" yells the girl, hopping up and down in glee. Before you can get your bearings, something strong and covered in flames grips you around the shoulders. The hold is tight, not to mention burning, but you can't help but notice that it's...soft, like a stuffed animal.
  13. It's kind of both, their inherent natures make for an almost perfect contrast, and their methods kind of reiterate that fact. Those smaller contrasts are just a reflection of the big one, to me, anyway. Not sure what others have to say on the subject.
  14. It'll probably clear up some stuff, while leaving enough holes to keep us dizzy for YEARS.
  15. Death by Incredible Pixar reference. (yes, the "Incredible" part is supposed to be a pun; shoot me now)
  16. Death by awesome poetry.
  17. I would like to see that idea carry over to something else, though. And the Kkell powers, though from the last of Peter's notes, it sounds like they won't.
  18. Death by vampire cat plushy demons! (if you know this reference, you're awesome)
  19. You know, I had the thought halfway through of "Hey, what if this is actually Scadrial's future, and Brandon's going to totally blow our minds?" Though I say that as if the second part isn't a given.
  20. In the past couple of days I read both of Brandon's short stories, Firstborn and Defending Elysium, which were totally amazing, as expected.
  21. So, I just read Firstborn, and it was awesome. It's hard to pick just one thing that made it stand out, it's a really great character piece.
  22. Death by death overload.
  23. Death by Awakening, which seems like an oxymoron.
  24. Death by SHIRO! OH SNAP!
  25. While that's vaguely possible, I'm extremely inclined to say that surgebinding is entirely Honor's work.
