  1. Hey OK so im not playing great this game... old age, memory loss, etc... But when I realized I only claimed evil to Kas and BookNewt and forgot to with Dive, I figured oh I might as well try. I imply im evil, he responds implying he is evil, I convince some people to vote on him... and oh my am I glad I was right cause it would have been sooooooo embarrassing to be wrong. For what it's worth Dive I didn't want to hammer you at the end there... sorry about that. I've been playing a really chaotic and clumsy game so here is where I real it back in. Im probably going to be more intentional and less PM-y moving forward. Still PM me though! I love PMs! Im just going to stop with the secrets now. That's true kinda funny... I wonder who they would have chosen... good job though! Game still going! Lol Edit: maybe I'll actually get around to some rp lol
  2. Ok I was trying to do more analysis but I'm a bit burnt out today. So I'll do a vote count: Kasimir(1): Lotus Argenti(2): Fura, TwinStorm TwinStorm(1): Argenti Divergent(2): BookNewt, Kas BookNewt(1): Divergent Previous vote counts didn't have my vote on Argenti. This is making me a bit nervous, it'd be very easy for 1-2 votes to drastically change what's going on here
  3. Im not against any of those votes although Im not a fan of the world where Kas is lying about their message... although even if they are telling the truth they can still be evil. Hoid Slayer's was a bit weird. What did Lotus lie to you about? Iirc it was just that they didn't get a message right? But then why tell Kas? @IHadAThought I'll also say Lotus has been very defensive today... Im for tying the vote. Will vote in my next big post when on computer.
  4. OK, Just finished my job interview! I feel like it went well! Which probably means i bombed xD. Thats usually how it goes for me. Anyways, will go through the thread a little later. Just want to throw out there, most of today has been pretty quiet followed by a bunch of confusion and a bit of bandwagoning. I just want us all to take a step back and try to think of simple solutions because they're usually correct. Even in a world where elims connected both previous days, there should be at least one more with no clue what's going on, and statistically they probably only connected once so far if at all. Reported messages: PM durasteel to Booknewt, Dive, Kas - Lotus/Fura. We checked each other in PMs where there are 4 pieces of info (word + 3 names). They said two which lined up with my info. I said 2 which they said matched theirs. Importantly, the name they said to me was not Booknewt. It is possible that Lotus knew this info because they sent out the message as a rebel or received it as either ISB or a rebel. Same goes for me. Remember receiving messages doesn't clear you. I think a world where we are lying about this, beyond me knowing thats not the case, is highly improbable... although I do love hail marry plays. I've already tried to do 2 this game and neither worked how I wanted. Probably execution error. PM durasteel to Booknewt and 2 others i can't remember rn. It is possible this is collaboration or framing. It is also possible that two elims independently thought they could improve on the durasteel message. Kas' weird thing - we know that either Kas is creating this (which I dont see a purpose exactly other than confusion... but if you want confusion, just send the message to a village player to cause the confusion OR Kas is being tested by someone who thought they were evil. In this case, I'd look at people who are engaged enough in the game to create whatever this is while also thinking positive things of Kas. Probably doesn't narrow down much but /shrug lol. --- I want to point out that it's possible other elims got the messages and aren't coming forwards. But I think fake messages are unlikely today. Yesterday more likely when everyone had a message and they can slip in a message while hiding. I think it's more likely these are real messages as, if I was evil, why cause the chaos yourself when you can make others cause it and then add on top The only world where I think there are fake messages is one where Kas believes they may be the only active evil in the game and trying to make stuff up to compensate... but I don't buy that. Edit: Evils, I really want to be in a doc... so if you could add me, much appreciated. Pls don't kill me I have so much to live for but Ig that'll still get me a doc so thanks lol 2dit: wooaahhh aperantly my phone browser was in desktop mode. Who would have guessed this forum is so much easier to use/navigate in mobile mode on a phone lol
  5. Ok, I haven't done one of these yet and I do think we are probably in a world where if we kill a good ISB agent today (not to be confused with the bad rebels) I think we are still fine so we don't need to start worrying yet. I did a verrryyyy basic sim with random kills and executions and I think 6 is likely too many rebels and 5 is a good number where the game seems to stay mostly balanced through the game regardless of what happens. So I think we have today and tomorrow to catch out another rebel before things get a little dicey. I seem to have a lot of evil reads early in this which idk what to think about that... I'm pretty confident I'm wrong on at least one. I've got to get offline for the next several hours, but should be back online for a few hours before rollover. If I nailed one of you below, PM me and let me know asap so I know to pivot to another... 1. TwinStorm - Slight Elim 2. Doc12 - Slight ISB 4. Divergent - Neutral - Will change based on PM response 5. BookNewt - Slight elim Edit: I should mention that doc and Kas are right about mine. I got told 1/3 players were evil and it's the exact same message as IHAT/Lotus
  6. For the time being I'm going to join you. Same reasoning and also I'm not a big fan of how spread out the votes have been the past two days until the very end. I would like to see people react a bit more to the pressure. Kasimir Argenti
  7. Sorry Exp it still doesn't make sense xD... Obv you weren't supposed to die but oh well. So Exp was putting forward a good amount of analysis, though definitely wasn't as comprehensive as some... and wasn't particularly suspicious based on what people were saying here... Though I was suspicious of them... So I'm not 100% sure what the goal was there. Perhaps just because they hadn't been super vocal against anyone in particular so it could be a safe kill and not make people target or trust anyone? But with the elims not knowing each other, that wouldn't matter much either. Anyways, may be a PM reason. Here's the thing I think is important... As great as it is that we have players trying to do analysis and solve the game, to do that we need info... and unfortunately I believe that in thread for at least days 1-3/4 rebels and ISB will act essentially identically (basically until Rebels start to find each other). So... Yesterday I spent a good bit of time PMing people... If I haven't opened a PM with you, feel free to PM me. I think private reads are going to be pretty important this game.
  8. Ok, I made that edit, and 5 people voting on one person definitely makes me feel a little uncomfortable... Even though going through their past posts which sidenote: I did by just opening their profile and looking through most recent posts. Can be harder with people active on multiple threads but works pretty good for the most part. You can also see a longer history by clicking "See their activity" button which is all the way to the right and under the profile banner. So going through their past posts they seem like they have been potentially intentionally being unhelpful... and I personally am not going to oppose a kill in that case... Though if some people haven't voted, I would love to see this vote tied or at least to see some votes. Or a bad sign xD Ooh and cool I thought rollover was in 3-4 hours for some reason lol
  9. Ahhh makes sense lol Was that communicated D1 or D2 in PMs? I get the joke-y nature of this post but this reads really sus to me as a train is forming... Like, what... at most there could be 2 elims who 100% know who each other are at the moment so I assume this isn't to save someone else but many trains usually have at least 1 elim in them imo. I thought I knew what this was about but I'm very confused lol I second this. First, new players can be very good at the game, don't sell yourself short. Secondly, I think it's valuable to talk to new players. I think there's a few I haven't gotten yet but I'm trying to have PMs with all the new players who are equally parts of this game and just as likely to be good/evil as any other player. I think the reasoning on Unknown Makes sense. I don't like how quickly this formed but I'm not opposed to it purely because elims don't know who each other are yet. I also think Argenti is still a good vote and am for tying this round between 2 (maybe 3) people. Definitely not more though. In early rounds, especially in this game, I'm generally more supportive of voting off players who are going under the radar (sorry but hopefully my posts are somewhat making up for missing the first day lol). I don't want to definitively say Argenti should have responded to my vote on them earlier as real life and leaving a computer open can affect this, but the thread did say they were online for a while after my ping on them and I assumed they were responding and never did. For those who have played with me in the past, I am notoriously bad at vote counts as I am color blind... so please double check me but here is my attempt (starting from my last post): IHAT(1): Kas, Coder Doc(1): IHAT Divergent(0): Doc Experience(0): Booknewt TwinSoul(1): Argenti Argenti(2): Fura, Doc, Unknown(5): TwinStorm, Divergent, Kas, ThatOneWorldhopper, Booknewt Fura(!): Exp. (already had to go back and fix twice for errors I caught lol) Edit: formatting Edit2: Added TwinStorm in votecount
  10. I have pretty bad brain fog at the moment so hopefully this all makes sense. With STINK getting killed and being evil, I think it's unlikely there were many submissions for the kill and either multiple picked STINK or multiple picks were rebels. With it being a tie vote at the end as well, I find it unlikely that the 3 who voted on STINK were any of the people who submitted the kill on them (though that doesn't mean there arent rebels there since they can't coordinate). Due to this, I don't want to vote on KSauce, Doc12, or ThatOneWorldHopper for today. Ok, so I just finished skimming the past messages. Currently getting elim vibes from Experience and IHadAThought. Mostly just because Exp said they aren't a veteran when they've been playing this game for years I'm pretty sure... and IHadAThought for the Dark Forest comment just because I feel like that kind of thinking is most likely to be from rebels. The reaction to the STINK kill I also think felt a little weird... That being said I think you are a new player so I don't want to kill you at the moment =). I know pokes are kind of weird on D2, but since this is kind of my D1, I'm going to poke @Argenti Argenti (ninja'd xD great timing) what are your thoughts on the game? Why do you think TwinSoul is evil? @Booknewt you also had quite a bit of thoughts on the game to not vote on anyone. Who would you vote on? IHAT(1): Kas, Doc(1): IHAT Divergent(1): Doc Experience(1): Booknewt TwinSoul(1): Argenti Argenti(1): Fura I will be on later today though won't have a ton of time left for today. Tomorrow I'll be more active. It is likely my vote will land on one of Argenti or Booknewt at the end of the day and will look at IHAT or Exp tomorrow unless I see something else to make me suspicious. Edit: added exp:booknewt into votecount
  11. Hey everyone, sorry for some reason I thought this started on the 27th not the 25th. Haven't had a chance to look through past messages yet. Can't at the moment but will definitely have a chance sometime in the next few hours. I'm alive and will post again in a bit.
  12. I think the level of pressure can change drastically based on players in the game and a ruleset. I personally think as long as you feel like you'll be able to engage with a game in a way thats fun to you, you should join. That could mean 1 post a day that is some general thoughts on the game or several posts changing as info changes. Imo long games are way higher pressure as there are more posts and more analysis.
  13. Ive thought about this for a while and playing this will be better for my mental health than just doom scrolling and waiting for job interviews xD. I think I can do a QF game... though im really out of practice so we'll see how this goes lol. I'll join as Kimrick Hammyr Edit: Ok rules questions: 1. When friendly fire faction kills are rerolled, is the person who was picked previously taken out of getting picked or could they get picked twice and still die? 2. For the rebel spymaster, can you designate someone not part of the doc as the successor? If so and the role gets passed on, is that player automatically added to the doc? 3. The item created by the tech, does it last until used or does it need to be used the following turn? 4. Does designating a successor count as an action for the surveillance role? 5. If a player had an item via the tech role being used on them, and then they were passed a key role, would they lose the item or keep it? If they do keep it, can they only use one action or the other or can they do both on a given turn?
  14. I just want to pop in and say I'm really happy to see this conversation being had and taken seriously. I know that in my case when I was active here I was in my teens and could be rather immature and overreactive at times, but when I was active, there were times when I felt targeted and bullied and, broadly speaking, those feelings weren't taken seriously by admin. But I kept trying to have these conversations and people would push back and say we didn't need them. That push back came both from admins and community members. I do want to remind everyone that if someone feels bullied, you should take that seriously even if you disagree. Maybe it was a "harmless comment" or maybe it was a misunderstanding. But when someone comes to you and is vulnerable about their feelings, we as a community have an obligation not to tell people their feelings aren't valid. There were definitely times with me that misunderstandings blew up into big issues. But if I had trusted the people telling me I was being unreasonable to actually see my POV and listen to me, i would have been way more likely to calm down. And I didn't trust people because times when my issues were legitimate they were brushed off. I went through a period of constantly leaving and coming back to the community due to these issues drastically affecting my mental health but not wanting to lose the people I felt I had strong connections with. In my last game here, there was an instance I remember as being... on its own it wasn't bullying but incredibly rude and disrespectful. However in greater context I definitely think it was bullying. It did also have to do with the person brought up earlier in this thread. I tried to call it out in game and then followed up in this thread about as a community we need to be willing to call out problematic stuff whether or not you're an admin. Whether or not you know if it hurt someone. I was really disturbed by people telling me this wasn't a concern. Or that admin was already doing their job when from my perspective that blatantly wasn't true. As a reminder though (not to this thread/convo but SE at large), its on a community to keep the community healthy not just admin. If something problematic happens in public, community members should be calling that out and supporting each other. If you're unsure, you can follow up with the target to see how they interpreted it or just err on the cautious side as it may or may not have been bad to one person but definitely would to another. Especially how, from my non-data-driven experience many people in the community tend to be high school/young adult age where social skills can often be very lacking. In addition to what Rae said, think it would be good to make sure all SE players know the best way to address these kinds of things. For instance, in the context of the issue I'm talking about Alv mentioned I should have made my post responding in game in blue text to draw IM attention and make it clear it was an out of game comment. Edit: tldr I completely agree with Rae and think these conversations need to be had publicly with the community and not behind closed doors.
  15. Going back to what I said in the dead doc, I think just about every issue this game can be solved with better communication... and perhaps a grievance system (used by players, gms, and ims) would help facilitate this. If any of the people involved had talked to anyone else, the problem would have been minimal.
  16. Well, even with it being unpinned, it's easy to remember to look there vs. a specific game the discussion happened in.... But yeah...
  17. If I agreed about anything in the doc that was incorrect or rude, I apologize. In my defense, I rarely actually read the game, so my thoughts were typically based around whatever Illwei or others in the doc told me. However that's still on me. So I'm sorry if I said/agreed with anything wrong/hurtful. I think this is good to bring up. I also think the dead doc was overly harsh on certain players... Illwei and Dingo specifically (probably a couple others, but the focus was on them)... I think in a developing/changing community, it is rather unfair to have people completely turn on you when you were never given the knowledge or chance to change... This is why, in the doc, I proposed a very specific method of grievance handling. Now, I don't care if we as a community adopt the one I put out or not, but I think it's important to have one. And this should be addressed as a community discussion. For a long time we've relied on protest votes to do this. Should we make protest voting an official thing we are expected to do, get rid of them entirely, or have a combination? We should discuss that. (I'm for a combo, but I don't get a vote). I think this is very good to mention again, because while advocating for people to go against harmful playstyles and language, we in the spec doc often times engaged in the very thing we were advocating against. I will add though (since the doc is long) there was a point towards the end when the doc turned to solutions. I think in general I agree with you about this doc. But the really important thing for anyone who cares about SE to do, is read the solution conversation. We talked about GM/IM involvement, what constitutes a harmful playstyle, about whether or not GMs can ever be truly impartial, and whether or not they are able to make calls on what is harmful and what isn't. Our discussion is useful, but hopefully it gets us started in a greater SE-wide conversation where we can figure out what rules we need as a community to keep this a fun atmosphere welcoming to new and old players, as well as deciding what is the GMs/IMs responsibilities in these games. Because that was definitely a problem. I think if we were in a community where GMs/IMs felt they could step in, Dingo and Lion both would have gotten warnings from the GMs/IMs, and then the whole issue would have been solved, as Dingo said they'd have stopped, and Illwei would have explained what they were going for and would have altered how they approach PMs... And very little would have been said about them in the dead doc. EDIT: Specifically by SE-wide discussion I mean it should happen in meta thread, as this game will fade but that wont.
