Uh, I don't think the Lord Ruler was feeling the effects of burning metal all the time, because he compounded it into feruchemy. Does it work like that?

Vinn's mum: Bellatrix Lestrange Evil and crazy

Ruin: Mr Gold from Once Upon a Time Because he plays a very good dual personality. Evil, loveable, crazy, kind, murderous, caring, treacherous. Hoid: James Veitch Yeah, he hasn't done any film acting, but he fits the personality perfectly, I feel. In his own words, he doesn't know when to stop. He is brilliant and sassy, and he loves toying with people.

I agree with what the others have said, and would like to add a few words of my own. In my opinion, even if ruin knew there was a possibility that he would die, the most important thing to him is, well, ruin. I suppose his own death may have brought him some satisfaction in that regard. Not only that, but even if he died, he might of assumed that someone else would become ruin and continue his work. Even when Sazed became balance, he created things which eventually would die. I suppose ruin genuinely believes that ruin is inevitable, whether he is dead or not. Edit: Ruin didn't have his body. If he did, he might have been able to predict his own death. Even if he did know, he might now have been able to prevent it without more power, anyway.

1. My power would be glowing. I can glow reaaally bright. Like the sun. (Maybe just as bright as how we see the sun from earth.) As a secondary ability, I'm going to say I can make mirrors. (Not actual mirrors, just spaces that reflect light as if there was a mirror there.) 2. My weakness would be.. Rain, probably. I think we need to remember that your weakness doesn't have to be you're worst fear. They are usually related in some way to your power, too. 3. My cheesy name would be Blazewood 4. My evil manifests itself by me blinding people I don't like, or who disagree with me for life. I also destroy people who eat icecream around me, just to throw people into confusion as to my true weakness. I think I kill most people because everyone thinks I'm a lame epic, and weird because I walk around with no clothes on, so my glow in uninhibited.

Yeah, I always wondered why the Lord Ruler didn't have to, after a thousand years, have to sit in a room for six hours a day to compound enough atium to survive.
-
Damnnn, that is overpowered. No wonder compounders are so strong. So, through compounding, you don't squeeze more out of the metal, you draw power directly from the shards?
-
@CalderisOh, ok. I thought that investiture was the amount of energy that something had, and compounding was the way of increasing the amount of investiture in a metal. Like burning a steel, then putting the energy into a steel ring instead of using it straight away, giving it more investiture. Therefore, when you did burn it, the output would be stronger than you could normally get by even flaring the metal. Or, investing feruchemical speed into a steel ring, etc, and then burning it to get the same results. You don't have to reply. I'm pretty un-learned when it comes to the more complex side of the cosmere.

Actually, I feel like like in america, you're more likely to find an animal that will kill you. I've only seen huge freaking scary spiders a few times, and they just sit in their web, doing nothing. Actually, I did get swooped by territorially agressive birds yesterday.

I love the american spelling for artifact. Artefact just looks odd.
-
@Calderis mm. I still don't know everything about compounding, but I was talking about using allomancy to fuel feruchemy. If investiture was stored in a metal that was burned, it would just make a really strong copper cloud from my understanding.

Ah, ok.

Just wondering who out there gets irked or cringes at the american spelling. Especially with there being such a repetition of color honor aluminum nnngaaah.

Just finished Elantris, Need to Re-Read it?
Embrisk replied to Habanero's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Elantris was the first sanderson book I picked up. It was the seventh sanderson book I finished. In that time, I read the way of kings, steelheart, the emperor's soul, the rithmatist, firefight, and calamity. -
You would be right. Australia is the greatest nation of them all. ^^ The sun kills, though. It feels like poison.

If Alcatraz were a movie......

I always imagined it starting with him getting up to get a midnight snack. -

This was how my family reacted to the ending of Calamity. Me - *Grabs head and goes* "Ooooh. Woaaaah. Woah. Woooaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!. Sister - *Runs around the room excitedly squealing* Dad - "wooow. That was THE best book ending!!!! I am blown away." I liked how un-sanderson-like the ending was. I kind of wish he didn't feel like he had to explain the explain the entire plot back to the reader at the end of every book. The more room a reader has to imagine things for themselves, the better the experience in reading the book, in my opinion. If you leave the picture with no blank spaces, I feel kind of limited as a reader to imagine what might be filling in those blanks spaces. This is why I love his non-cosmere stuff way more than his cosmere works. His cosmere-related works just seem like they're trying too hard to tie into this great big plot, and explain the rules of the magic systems to the reader too much. Take the first chapter of the way of Kings. I feel like I don't need to know immediately the three types of lashings to understand that this crazy assassin is throwing everyone around the room by playing with gravity. I like the free style feel of his other works, like Steelheart and The Rithmatist.

Buut. You could probably become as hot as you wanted if you stored up enough health to go with it. *Turns up body temperature to the temperature of lava, while grabbing guys face*

@CalderisIn my opinion, copper can only be used to store memories as you are remembering them. So, you couldn't use an ability to compound copper for memories unless there were memories that you wanted to store. Otherwise, the copper couldn't be used as fuel, because you wouldn't get anything out of it. Either that, or the copper would be consumed, but nothing would happen. Most likely, you would just create a copper cloud instead of storing anything into the metal, because you aren't using the abilities of compounding. Consuming the copper in place of sacrificing your own memories, that is all that compounding can be used for. Using one thing as fuel in place of another. What I am curious about, is the extent of copper feruchamy. Could you, for instance, store muscle memory in copper? One example might be piano. A long period of practice helps you more in the long run for playing piano. But your ability to play piano is always best fresh, and so, short term, three hours of practice just before a performance would help you more than three one-hour chunks spread out throughout the week before a performance. Could a copper feruchemist store their memories of playing piano immediately after practicing sporadically, and then remember them right before a performance to give them an edge? Also, if a feruchemist were to store every single memory of their entire existance, could they revert back to the intelligence of a baby?

227. On the other hand, it is relatively safe if you happen to be the ghost/ghoul/demon with a crush. Just don't get too attached ^^

No. In answer to your question, the ability to change the speed of light might have some interesting consequences. It might just make time slow down or speed up, and nothing would change. However, no matter what speed the speed of light was, matter cannot travel faster. For example, say there was a stream, and you made a little wooden boat to travel down the stream. No matter how light you made the boat, it would never travel faster than the stream unless an outside force pushed it. Whether it flowed at 3 kph, or 300 kph, there is no way the boat would could travel faster than the stream pushing it. In other words, it would require something faster than energy, to move matter faster than energy.

I don't like who Kaladin becomes - just letting his hate consume him. I also think Shallan should die. I'm only up to words of radiance, but she has come to annoy me so much.

I have thought about this. In my opinion, compounding metals only allows you to fuel feruchemy or allomancy by using both systems. In this case, instead of using your own memories to store your own memories, you would be using copper as the fuel. This would allow you to store your own memories without forgetting them. If any other use exists for compounding copper, I do not know it. But then, I have only read the first mistborn series.
