  1. Here are an idea. Those splinters were picked up by spren, which is maybe why they can turn into shardblades/plates. It is also why surgebinding is granted to those who bond with spren. Maybe it is also why Roshar used to have more wood. The highstorm wasn't as powerful before Honour died. Splintering Honour gave more power to humans, because spren are the link between Honour and humans.
  2. Just had a thought. What if as people are affected by the shards they pick up, the shards are (in the tiniest degree,) affected by the people who hold them. Just as holding ruin for a thousand years will corrupt a good man, a little piece of goodness is added to ruin. A tiny, insignificant amount. Not enough to alter the intent of the shard power. However, when combined back to make a balance between other shards, that small amount makes all the difference, and it becomes easier to preform actions for the benefit of people, instead of inaction due to conflicting powers.

Maybe this is what Hoid seems to want good men to hold the powers of the shards.

  3. The chronicles of narnia?
  4. Um. Does Brandon Sanderson have an account on the seventeenth shard? Does he visit often? Has this been asked before?
  5. Increasing and decreasing temperature. Grounding things that normally have the ability to fly. Giving headaches to other people Causing a target to slow down Stopping locked doors from being unlocked by other people Causing all rain / snow to fall instantly instead of gradually. Render someone unable to speak Give sentience to machines and electronics Gives the wearer an insanely loud voice Allows the wearer to control people, but only while they have physical contact Allows the wearer to levitate half a metre from the ground, and zoom around at the speed of a bicycle. Some dark glasses ideas the wearer becomes forced to speak the truth The wearer becomes blind The wearer has the inexplicable urge to use the toilet The wearer forgets everything from the time they put on the glasses, to the time they take them off Disguising glass, that looks like another type of glass for fifteen minutes after touching other glass When the glasses are worn, it looks for the first person it sees doing something. Until the glasses are removed, the wearer is forced to do that thing.
  6. Yeah, it's like $30-$40 for an Alcatraz book in aus, too. Edit: $40, just checked. That's like $45 USD at exchange rate, too. If I wanted to buy all Alcatraz books, it would cost $200.
  7. It was the lighthouse. Next persons turn.
  8. It's a tall building, very visable. (Final clue.)
  9. Nopity nope I'll give another clue tomorrow morning
  10. Yeah, but neither does atium. You have to be a little creative with these questions.
  11. It's for travellers. But it's not an oathgate.
  12. It's a building
  13. There are many places like this place.
  14. Ooh, a hard question. I'd say a shard, JUST because I could develop my own magic system and creatures, then leave humans to it. Would you rather have any two surges of your choice, or be a compounder of your choice?
  15. Ah, I didn't know that. It's funny that I completely missed that.
  16. This is hilarious because it shows how we can be so close, and yet when we find out, we'll all think "oooh. Duh. That was so obvious. Why was I so dumb?"
  17. So, basically as being a part of Sanderson fan base, I was thinking it might be a good idea to have a name. There are whovians, potterheads, trekkies, even beliebers, etc. But as far as I'm aware, there is no name to use to identify a Sanderson fan, apart from saying "I like Brandon Sanderson." Now this isn't a huge problem, it's just something we might want to think about as a growing fandom. Do you have any suggestions? I've made a few, but these are just ideas I'm throwing out, that I didn't think too much about. Any name suggestions would be nice. Maybe at the end, we could create a poll, and vote in a name, if you guys want to do that. Sanderling Cosmerian World hopper Sanderfreak Cosnerd
  18. This sounds awesome. I don't have any advice for you, though. Sorry. Just wanted to commend your spreading of sandersonity.
  19. Sorry, just got back from work. First totally ambiguous clue is, this place is made out of stone.
  20. The crazy guys "museum"
  21. If a surge binding allomancer were to put stormlight into a metal, and then burn the metal, could they compound stormlight?
  22. Guys, I have some good news. I think I finally understand the way compounding God metals works. Or atleast, I understand it better. I think. Changing the topic of the discussion a bit here, but what if you poured stormlight into a metal, and then burned it? Would that be enough to compound? There are a few things here that might need to happen for you to be able to do that. I'm still thinking about it.
  23. But then again, it works with atium compounding.
  24. I don't know if any, or all of the different forms of investiture would work with aviar. The types of investiture mentioned are associated with humans. I don't know how or why an aviar would bond with a spren. On top of that, the soul signature difference, or whatever it's called, has a high probability of causing issues. (Like how you can't normally burn someone else's metalmind properly. this is just a wild theory, but maybe if lift slickened food, and then ate it, it would be something like stormlight compounding.
