Crackpot Theories (A game)
Embrisk replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Proof: God gives Brandon Sanderson immortality so he can write all the books he wants. Theory: Spook supports animal cruelty. -

Proof: the highstorm causes a ton of destruction. Theory: The entire cosmere is just a computer simulation for brains in jars. -
Crackpot Theories (A game)

Proof: Ruin behaves exactly like Reen did when Reen was mortal. Theory: Shallan is a cannibal. -
I voted Raoden. Even though Kelsier can accomplish whatever he sets his heart on, and nobody leads men to victory better than Dalinar, Raoden is the most motivational leader ever.

It's because I rate a book on how engaging it is. I have yet to read a cosmere book that is as engaging from the start as Harry Potter.

Pokemon games are boring, the card games are boring, the anime is boring. Harry Potter > Brandon Sanderson

I finally used my Christmas $100 giftcard to buy skyward, edgedancer, and Alcatraz vs Librarians. I have $5 left

Skyward:

Hm, didn't know that.

could Alcatraz break a shardblade?
Embrisk replied to not an Evil Librarian's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Invested objects are harder to break, because the only way he could break things in the cosmere would be if he used investiture to do it. Just a theory I'm chucking out there. -
I would agree that ruin and cultivation are opposites, and that honour and odium are opposites. I feel like ambition and preservation are more opposites because in English, I feel the closest word for the feeling of the desire for change in any direction would be ambition. Preservation is the desire to keep things unchanged. I also agree that these are all not pure opposites, but each have their own aspects. I agree with endowment being close opposites to autonomy. Autonomy is to have something on its own without outside interference. Endowment is to be that interference. I would hazard a guess that autonomy doesn't have a magic system, but as stated by others, it really depends on his interpretation of autonomy.

Brandon's ability to write and describe grief.
Embrisk replied to Stormcrown's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I agree. I love his "dead" flashes the most, when a character realised how many people have been killed by the author. -
Are you afraid of Sanderson been unable to finish Cosmere?
Embrisk replied to IcaroRibeiro's topic in Cosmere Discussion
All you need is one desk, one pen, one chain and one Sanderson. That should solve all your worries. -
The way of the stick: a martial art developed in Shadesmar, focused on the idea that you will not let your opponent control your actions in any way. You are a stick. Roshar of course would have ten different martial art styles based on the ten different stances. The way of the flame focuses on quick and flexible movements. The way of the wind is a style that focuses on sweeping, majestic movements. The way of blood is a style with the idea about not caring about taking hits. In other words, the way of blood is to strap on a blindfold, lie down, hold your hands above your head, and roll around on the floor. Professional practitioners of the way of blood will do this while shouting provoking insults about their opponents mothers.

Who would you want to be in the cosmere?
Embrisk replied to Warden of Storms's question in Cosmere Q&A
Odium = hate. It's the want to get someone you hate so much and torture them for the rest of their lives. You don't want them to die, you want them to live in pain. And you want to be the cause of that pain. You can't really be odium without that, I think. I'm not sure of what you mean when you say that that is why you want to be a part of odium. That's actually my theory on why odium never manages to destroy the world. It's more like he doesn't want the world to end, because if the world ends, then the desolations end. And he doesn't want the desolations to end. If I were anyone in the cosmere, I'd want to be one of the Elantrians that still has their sanity. Maybe Raoden? That's if I can't be an Elantrian who lived during the golden age of Elantris. -
I wrote a post, but it's late and I'm tired so I needed to change it to this instead.

I feel so lucky to live when these books are being pumped out one at a time.

Alcatraz books either not stocked or v. expensive
Embrisk replied to ljósmóður's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
I think they are better priced online. P.S. I just used my $100 gift card from Christmas to buy Alcatraz, Edgedancer, and Skyward. -
If two shards become one, do you suppose that their investiture flavours become the same?

I think Hoid is a fullborn. His ability to know where he needs to be is related to his feruchemy, (luck?) and his loss of conciousness seems related to feruchemical sleep.

So I came up with an theory about Nightwielder, but basically I thought we'd do something that I'm not sure if it's been done before; making up background information about epics we have little knowledge on. Who is the epic? Why do they have their powers? Why do they have their weaknesses? Nightwielder is an otaku. He's a Japanese guy who, until he became an epic, still lived with his parents even though he was an adult. He didn't have a life, he didn't have many friends, he was employed, but only so he could earn money to buy video games, anime, and manga. He rarely ventured outside, preferring to watch anime all day. The anime obsession is why he can wield darkness and turn incorperal. His weakness to sunlight is because he loves watching anime all day, and doesn't like doing anything that involves going outside or being productive.

Stormlight Healing and Suspension of Disbelief
Embrisk replied to Stormrunner1730's topic in Stormlight Archive
The story is usually very vague when it comes to how much stormlight they actually have, so it's hard to come to a conclusion as to when they should run out of stormlight. Actually, what I find a little harder to believe is how he goes flying across and into a guy wearing shardplate infront of everyone, and NOBODY is surprised or notices when his kick breaks the guys shardplate. Seriously, his kick would have had to be as strong as a boulder flying into the guy. Since its done with gravity, he wouldn't have started at terminal velocity, he would have accelerated over distance. I'm sure his internal organs got pretty messed up when he landed, too. It would probably be like jumping from a building.
