  1. Shana nodded, relaxed a bit when she heard his description of the wedding. Just signed a document. "Well, that's your party." She repeated a bit weakly and used her mobile to start the music. Not too loud - not yet at least. "And he looks brilliant." She grinned at Jace and shot James a wuick smile, asked him a glance to stay quiet for now. She turned in surprise when she saw someone new coming down the stairs. "Hi. Who are you?" She replied cautiously, sent Mahad to search for Ben and shifted her weight to be able to move fast. @ShadowLord_Lith @Aragorn @Wyndlerunner
  2. Shana nodded and wordlessly unwrapped the package, gently brushed her fingers over the lace. "It's beautiful." She replied and hugged him gratefully, carefully hung the dress on a door to make sure it didn't get wrinkles from lying around. "Thank you so much." "It's just a party." She look at her feet. "Most of us just dressed normally, we've gotten some decorations and Evelyn cooked with Cass, I think. Edwin got some sweets, there are some flowers, candles, but it's nothing special." "I'm sorry, you asked after a party, so I organized a party with music and baloons. If you'd wanted something more wedding like, I'm sorry, I didn't know." She ran a hand through her hair in a helpless gesture. "It were only a few hours, so I, I'm sorry if you don't like it."
  3. Shana took the present and looked at it silently. "I don't earn that." She said shook her head, feeling sad that he'd gotten her a present on his wedding day, when she hadn't even gotten one for him. Wordlessly she opened the door, unsure whether to unwrap the present right now or not. She felt raw by his kindness, forced a smile on her face. "Come on inside?"
  4. Shana rounded the house and saw Jace and Ax waiting at the front door. She felt stupid when she saw their festive cloths, tried to brush at least some leaves of her pants, noticed a new stain on her shirt. "You're here." She said somewhat unintelligently, irritated that they'd shown up in these cloths, when they'd asked after a party, not a wedding celebration. You haven't been invited. A small voice reminded her again and she grimaced. Awkwardly she stuffed her hands into her pockets, "Well, congratulations, I think? Food and music is inside."
  5. Lena paused and looked at him strangely. "You want to rob a great guild?" She asked slowly and started to cut some carrots, brocoli and zuchini. Absently minded she added it to the pan, then filled another pot with water and set it to boil. She considered his idea while she filled a mixing bowl with water, eggs, flour and a little bit ot salt and started to make a dough. "That's risky. We know close to nothing about their security or the layout of the building. Nor do we know where we might be able to find a fabrial. For this to work we should do some reconaisance first, then plan how to get in there." "I like the idea. Robbing a great guild. That's even crazier than robbing Alleyzon. We need to make sure that they won't recognize us though."
  6. The threat was so obvious, Lusk's eyes cold, his words short as if for a simpler mind. Like ice water they ran over Mike's body and he lowered his eyes, Wolf receding quietly. There was only one possible answer, although it tasted like ash in his mouth. "I will try to keep them in check, sir." He replied, the words not a lie, but empty. He'd lost that fight somewhere between the Alley and the crashing buildings of the last war, he had given up fighting, just tried to keep Fox and Snake at bay, fighting a loosing battle, retreating more and more. There was nobody to talk to, nobody to listen and so he only added. "I won't let them endanger the mission, sir." The mission. Maybe a purpose would help, something to do, to propell him onwards. Maybe. Lusk would terminate him if he failed and maybe that was the right thing to do. Get rid of him, as long as he hadn't destroyed it all. Turning to Nila he gestured towards the door. "Can you lead the way?" @Oduim’s Chmapion
  7. Brashen returned to her side, taking his usual place on her shoulder, mostly vanishing from sight. Althea gratefully touched the spot where he was, knew that he would have told her, if the two left behind needed support in some way. In front of her the little animal observed them for a while, but when they didn't act, or come closer it started to nibble at the bread. "I agree." She observed it for a while longer, then turned the remaining bread into a piece of apple. The animal flinched back slightly before the change, afterwards it only to slowly returned to the food. It had sensed the moment she had reached for her stormlight Althea realized and watched it sniff the apple suspiciously. "We should search the forest as well," she added, "it seems likely that it hosts other living forms and might hint at the biome in total." Pensively she looked around. "This is the second species with some kind of innate investiture and it's highly different from the first one we encountered. We'd need to check their DNA to be sure, but there is a large chance that they aren't related. That fact sparks the question why and how these abilities were evolved, or if this evolution was started artificially at one point. There is a high chance, that its just a consequence of them living here in the Alleyverse. If its the last reason, then it would be interesting to see if other types of Investiture are mimiced as well. I suggest we take it with us over to the forest and try to find more clues about its habitat in general." Getting up she streched her back. "As for a name, maybe we should figure its sex out, or go with something universal."
  8. Sagitta moved back, until she had a wall behind her back, looked from Tion, to Zura, to Price who had run away. The situation felt wrong, like a bad dream. Weapons passing through people, but connecting again. "I'm with Price." She gestured towards the direction he had run and eyed the guards nervously. One turned towards her and still lifted his spear threateningly. "Anybody can claim that." He stared at her coldly, his eyes on her weapon. Sagitta paused then lifted the Tomahawk. "Don't you recognize this?" She asked. "It's tühine." The man made no move, continued to try to keep her in check. That was what counted she supposed and her eyes darted to Tion again, wondered what she was missing here. It was like one piece of a puzzle, one piece she had lost and until she found it again, she had no chance to make sense of the situation. She felt lost, wished that she knew who to fight, that she saw a path to take. But instead there was only confusion.
  9. Shana sighed and hopped off the tree. "Let's head inside." She grinned at him. "Time to get the party started."
  10. I've patchworked some Alleys.
  11. Brashen nodded and with a quick wave, he left them. "Call if you're in trouble." He instructed, without caring if they did or not. He'd made sure they were alright, and they had a plan. It was enough for him. Quickly he disappeared into the darkness, returned to Althea.
  12. There was a smug tone to Brashen's voice when he replied. "Ice cold water. Deep enough to soak you, not deep enough to jump." He jumped on another boulder, closer to the ridge and then looked at Sarah. "And you plan to fasten the rope to what?" He asked curious to see if she was trying to make him go away, or if she'd really thought this through. If she was about to kill the two of them - he might even need to offer help with that. And he only wanted to head back to Althea, make sure she was safe. "I could create a larger cage for it to move in, so that we can conduct a few tests" Althea moved a sphere along the glass, watched the creature turn his head. "And we need to find out what it eats, or it will be dead soon." Pensively she soulcast a little rock into some bread inside the cage and watched it come closer, sniff the bread suspiciously. "As for a name, what do you think about Kalea? Not asuming, but we don't know enough about it yet, to find a name hinting at its nature."
  13. Sagitta turned towards Tion as well, when she noticed Zura's move. Now that the woman wasn't holding her blade in her direction anymore she relaxed a bit and concentrated on Tion. "I don't care what you were taught." She replied, although she did. That he believed he could take both of them without a weapon at the same time was impressive. "Why don't you explain what's going on?" She pressed took a slight step towards him, readied herself to escalate the situation. She wasn't one to say no to a good fight. "Your words, combined with Gati's and what happened to us - it doesn't fit. And you can start talking now, or we'll see about that once I'm done with you." Slowly, obviously she shifted her weight in a way he had to see, made it easy to lunge for him,or to react should the need arise.
  14. Shana sighed as well, but started to climb down, pausing now and then to offer James her hand. "We have to." She agreed and closed her eyes, then opened them again. "Ashlyn is still there?" She asked before hopping down to the ground.
  15. "Brashen." He replied slowly, shook his head and then added with a sigh. "Althea send me back to check on you." He got to his feet and waved at Fasi who drew another useless line. "So do you need help?" @Oduim’s Chmapion ========= Althea moved her hand over the cage and added smaller holes for air. The gesture was mostly to show off, or rather to indicate that she would do something. She had started it, once she realized that many were startled if she did things without warning them first and gesture fit the general prejudice about mages. "I'm sure, there will be more of them." She replied and looked around, but saw nothing. "We can catch one for you to keep." The creature followed Karin's hand with its dark eyes, slowly moved forward towards the glass.
  16. Shana made a huge, sweeping gesture outwards and smiled at him. "You can see the whole neighbourhood from up here." She explained and looked over the houses. "I can climb on this tree from the window of my room." Pointing downwards she indicated where her room was on the first floor. "It's my own, private way out. And it never looses its leafes, although it can get dangerous to climb around when its full of ice."
  17. Exactly like that! If you have any other questions, about the shard or the Alleyverse, I'm happy to answer them!
  18. You can use this thread for Feedback, and the Alleyverse character thread to submit the character to be checked by a mod. (Although we can look over it here as well.). It would be great if you'd tag us, makes it easier, but usually one of us checks these threads regularly.
  19. Shana sighed and then got to her feet. They couldn't change it. She would bury this family as well and one day, one of them would bury her. It was the way things went. She hadn't even finished the thought, when she knew it was wrong. She wouldn't bury them. A cold shiver ran along her spine when she knew, knew with every inch of her body that her days were counted. Something would happen, and then she would do something. And then she would most likely die. She stood on the branch for a moment, tried to understand what happened, why she knew this, but she couldn't pinpoint it. She only knew, that it was the truth. Nimbly she climbed up higher and extended a hand to James again. "Come on. I've got to show you something."
  20. Wita joined Lewis and held up the Newspaper. "He made dots into the Newspaper." She giggled and showed him the dots. They were scattered all over it and she grinned in delight. "Like he thought he was an artist, but he wasn't good." "What did you find?" She asked Lewis curiously and called out to Marcel. "Come back to us?" @I think I am here. @Eluvianii
  21. Althea lifted a sphere. "It came, when I placed one of them down on the ground. Maybe it's attracted to light." She mused and looked in the direction where it had vanished. She heard Corette call out something about a wood, and slowly moved in that direction kept her eyes open. Another movement, again towards the forest. Althea stopped, when she could see the mist around the vague forms of the trees, felt the warmth. "Maybe they live within the trees." She stopped and placed a sphere on the ground, walked a few steps and then put a second one down. They glowed softly from the stormlight trapped within them. She made sure, that both lay close to a boulder, so that she could soulcast the rock into a prison and then she waited. Her eyes remained with the spheres, although she wished that Brashen was here to keep an eye on her back - but he wasn't. Nothing happened, then suddenly the small furry creature rushed towards one of the spheres and tried to bite into it. Althea reached out for the rock, soulcast it into glass, covered the creature in a aquarium like box and waved Karin over. @kenod ---.--- Brashen stayed where he was, when one of the humans drew a chalk line on the ground. It hit the wall behind him, smashing a part of the rocks to pieces, but otherwise nothing happened. Of course nothing happened. He was a spren. If he had eyes, he would have rolled them now, these two were so dumb compared to his Althea, but she had asked him to check on them. "Do you need help?" He asked and sat down on his rock, his feet dangling in the air. @Rushu42 @Oduim’s Chmapion
  22. "We have to go there at one point." Shana sighed and slowly moved back from him, used her arm to wipe of her face. "It's not even a full day since I killed, and Jace has no idea what happened. With the hospital, the police. Both of them don't. I couldn't tell them earlier, but in the end, we have to tell them at one point." Tiredly she sighed. "We have to be happy for them. It's their wedding day." She made a grimace and leaned back as well. "But not today. These things can wait until tomorrow." Earnestly she looked over at him took his hand. "You are my family James. And I'd be honored if you'd be my older brother." She told him and meant every single word. "I am sorry if I am overly dramatic, I know I can be sometimes." Falling silent she looked down at the house. "They all are my family. I would die for every single one of them, even for Ashlyn. I fear the day, when we don't organise a wedding, but a funeral. We are no superheros, although it feels like that sometimes. No X-Men coming to our rescue, no AI controlling our whole house. There will be a day, when the first ones of us die and I fear that day. Because we aren't ready for it, because I'm not ready for it. What Cass did, it's awful, but it was born out of desperation. Who is next? Ben, asking to be a better fighter? Rob? Ashlyn? Me?" she shook her head. "I have to protect them, but I just can't." Desperation made her voice shook. "I will have to see them drown, one after the other, because I can't look after ten, twenty people? Doc takes in new ones regularly, I can't stay with everybody. I can make sure I fight when the time comes, storms, I can't even train with everybody here." She forced the next words out of her throat. "I will have to stand by and watch someone die, because I am not enough, because I am too weak, or too slow, or just not there."
