I'll tell you if you want, but I don't want to spoil it for you. It is very subtly mentioned late series.

I haven't listened to this specific one, but I have listened to the original Mistborn trilogy and all of Wheel of Time. The same folks narrate those as Oathbringer, and I can say that they are terrific. I've listened to them for hundreds of hours worth of books, they are my favorite narrators of all time. I promise you they do a good job. My husband has the same problem, our family keeps us busy and if he sits down to read he just falls asleep. Listening to a book during his commute helps make the traffic more bearable!

I originally read the Wheel of Time because I was already a fan of Sanderson and figured I didn't want to face the dilemma of what book to read next for a while. 14 books should keep me busy for a while, right? Well a few years and 3 re-reads later, here I am with a parody song, inspired by my initial confusion over who was who with all 2000ish characters. Spoiler FREE, check out the lyrics but you'll only really get a sense of it by listening. Not a great recording, but I was working with certain limitations. It is what it is. I finally found a name that appears twice, after months of work and the thing being already recorded...oops. Bonus points if you find it! I am the very Model of a Major Robert Jordan Fan.m4a

Here is my own parody composition: "I am the very Model of a Major Robert Jordan Fan," I had to practice it A LOT to get it fast enough to record it. Then I had to cut down the karaoke track, because they all include the chorus singing the original lyrics. Unfortunately, the cuts are very noticeable...ah well! But I guess I practiced enough because the final product was done with 2 takes. And I noticed after all that, all this time, that I've got a name in there twice! Oops. 100% spoiler free, this song is dedicated to anyone who has every grown overwhelmed or confused by the huge cast and all their various names... Lyrics are in the spoiler tag, the recording is here for you to listen to: I am the very Model of a Major Robert Jordan Fan.m4a

It's Li'l Bluefingers! Someone decided to "paint" with food coloring (it looked so much blue-er before I found the wet wipes), and my sanity depends on finding ways to laugh about it.

It was easy for me to imagine beings with no noticeable male or female traits, voices on the other hand... In my head Cuna had a feminine voice and Morriumur had a masculine voice. I don't know if anyone else is this way, but once I've created the mental picture, it doesn't budge. Even after I notice it doesn't even fit the description I read, the picture is there to stay. So despite my best efforts, I instantly gender coded the Dione characters. I guess I would really struggle if I joined the Superiority!

I was finally able to get to reading this book yesterday. Yay! I have found a few constants in reading Sanderson's books, this book fit all of them: 1. Questions that I think are going to be series ending questions actually get answered in a middle book 2. The story never progresses like I expect it will based on the previous book. 3. Despite questions getting answered much sooner than I expect, new questions are always introduced so I end with more questions than I started with. Overall, I really enjoyed the book. But I think I will enjoy the next one more if it does what I hope it does. Bring back the rest of Skyward flight, bring humans and other races together in conflict and in friendship. Predictions for book 3: I'm always wishing people will just get along, but I suspect the next book will involve a civil war between the two factions of the Superiority with humans joining in on the side of Cuna's faction. But, once again, the next book never goes the direction I think it will, so take my theory, figure out the opposite of that and that'll likely be what happens in book 3.

I suspect being essentially raised by Wiznik (sp?) has made Brade more like him: power hungry, ambitious, lacking in empathy, with a hearty dose of self loathing. He's taught her that loyalty doesn't matter, power matters. I'm not sure if we'll see Brade grow or develop, if she will want to change. There are so many ways the next book could go! We haven't seen the last of Brade, I'm pretty sure, though I've proven myself terrible at predicting what Sanderson will do in a next book!

I love many characters, basically all of them. Dalinar's arc is so powerful to me, I relate to Kaladin, but I'd want to hang out with Sigzil.

Step one: Examine the Sanderson memes. Step two: Find the funniest and puniest ones to turn into an hilarious birthday card. Step three: Attach a delicious candy. Alternate plan: just give each of them a stick.

I am so glad this thread already exists, because I am right now working on a piece that I call. "I am the Very Model of A Major Robert Jordan Fan." If I can get it up to speed, I'll make an MP3 to share with my lyrics. Wish me luck!

My favorite predictions so far! May Aladar will only become relevant in book 10 when it is discovered that she is a KANDRA!

concepts that brandon has used multiple times
Singer replied to king of nowhere's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Beginning of the book/series; These are the rules of magic and facts of history that we all know to be true. End of book/part way through series: Everything we know is a lie. -
Please tell me I'm not the only one who has considered it would be awesome if Bruce Campell were cast as Thom. If not, then grab someone with the resonant voice of Bryn Terfel, the face of Jeff Bridges, and the physical comedic and fight prowess of Jackie Chan. That person exists, right?

*Puts on aluminum foil hat* I think the Reshi isles used to be a mountain range near the coast Kurth near the middle of the nation. It got smashed kind of like the Shattered Plains by some surge binding mumbo jumbo and the land sunk, leaving only the peaks of the mountains as islands.

I don't often theorize, but here we go! Y'all got me thinking. What if Cultivation has been cultivating her daughter the Nightwatcher to have a magical signature similar to her own? That way Odium wouldn't notice the difference between a typical boon/curse vs. real Cultivation intervention. She allows the Nightwatcher to do her thing specifically so that she can step in and plant the seeds she needs to bring down Odium. I also theorize that Dalinar, Taravangian, and Lift (and others as well) are all part of her plan to bring down Odium, but in such a way that Odium will overlook them until the crucial moment. That's pretty much how OB played out, he didn't pay attention to or notice Dalinar's personal growth until it was too late.

Last Christmas people were asking for Cosmere themed "ugly sweaters." I sure do want me a ridiculous sweater covered in glyphs or somesuch. I would also be interested in whatever game Red and Gaz were playing in OB and gambling on that definitely wasn't trying to predict the future . It sounded pretty fun!

I'm pretty sure a Takama is a robe with a deep v/open front and a skirt like bottom

I think if he were a poorly written, unrealistic character he would be less polarizing. He would be a fairly universal "meh". I understand why people hate him, but I also understand him and his path. That is why he is great!

This whole discussion just reinforces my belief that Moash is a wonderfully written character. Even when I think he makes the wrong choice, his reasoning makes sense to me. I can understand him. If he gets a redemption, I hope it is as powerful as Dalinars--though it will definitely be fewer words. If he doesn't get redeemed I am fine with that as long as I can still see his point of view, as long as his actions have consequences, and as long as he gets to have a highly emotional face off with Kaladin. It will be what the Stars Wars prequels were going for but completely failed at.

Almost unrelated on Feather's comment on multiple "L" in English...I learned this in college, it is so noticeable when singing the difference between 'all' and 'la'. 'all' depresses your tongue in the back and can put pressure on your larynx. I tried to explain this to my friends and demonstrate and they couldn't tell a difference. They thought I just made it up, I am so vindicated!

I would love to see either Lirin the stoneward or Lirin the dustbringer or just Lirin the regular human surgeon. His perspective is one of my favorites and speaks to me very personally. My mom worked in the medical field for decades and spent most of that time treating combat veterans, which has led her to be pretty anti-war. I got some of that attitude from her, but neither one of us would allow anyone to hurt a member of our family. I suspect Lirin is the same, but I may just be projecting myself onto him. Anyone who is constantly faced with the long lasting effects of a few moments of violence really thinks twice and tries any other means to solve their problems, I think. That wouldn't disqualify them from being a knight radiant, I think it would just influence how they used their spren Bond and shards. If Lift can make a shardfork, who knows what a surgeon might come up with!

Brandon Started Writing Sixth of the Dusk Sequel in Germany
Singer commented on Chaos's article in Brandon and Book News
Umm...because I enjoy Stormlight? I'm triple excited because not only is there a Sixth of the Dusk short story I am learning about for the first time, but two other short stories that I hadn't heard about (Rock's and Lopen's) So I am now triple the excitement. It's 1+2. If I were getting short stories from Nalthis and Threnody I would be equally as excited. Perhaps you were confused by my wording "I want all the stormlight short stories" is in reference to a meme. I was not saying I didn't want short stories from other cosmere worlds or anything. I'm just saying I am looking forward to reading these.
