  1. Even without the WoB, Hoid said "Life before death" to the Cryptic and then promised it some "juicy truths". I'm curious about how fast he will achieve the ideals. He has to be one of the more self aware characters in the Cosmere so it seems like he should be able to pull a Szeth (who knew what his fourth ideal would be the moment he swore the first) and jump right to the end. Either way I really hope we get to see Hoid speak his truths rather than have him do it off page.
  2. The Shard blade would make that pretty tough on Hrathen. Has anyone ever asked Brandon if Dakhor bones can block a Shard Blade? If they can it would probably give him a massive edge simply from the surprise Adolin would feel at having his blade blocked by someones hand. Another fight I would like to see is Jasnah V Malata. I think Division against Transformation would make for a cool battle. Add in the potential for Malata sliding around with Abrasion and Jasnah teleporting with Transportation and it could be a very interesting scene (would be very cool in a movie too).
  3. At the end of WoR we have a brief Adolin PoV during Dalinar's fight with Szeth. I'm going from memory here but I believe that Adolin is blown away by how well his father is fighting. This is scene happening well after the point where Dalinar stopped feeling that the Thrill in a good thing and it started making him feel sick. Dalinar is likely one of the most skilled (if not the most skilled) fighters on Roshar. That being said it would still likely be an excellent fight.
  4. Just wait till round 3..
  5. Kelsier V Hoid Round 2 How it goes down. Kelsier pulls out all of the Fullborn stops and lights Hoid up in a major way. Hoid is moderately amused. Unable to physically hurt Kelsier, Hoid lightweaves a few dozen copies of himself as a distraction (think Dr Strange V Thanos in Avengers). Hoid then puts Kel in Shard shackles that effectively hog tie him. To further humiliate Kelsier, Hoid Soulcasts the air around Kel into a giant block of Aluminum (Han Solo in Empire but with mouth and eye holes). Hoid then sells his new Survivor Statue to a particularly annoying light eyed noble and leaves Kel to suffer for a few years.
  6. They can create Aons on or with basically anything as long as they are precise and intend to. It could be argued that Elantrians are more Connected that most of the other magic systems given that you can only become one by having a Spiritual Connection to Arelon, Teod, ect, and you can only effectively use Aons while in the vicinity of Elantris. As for Identiy, the scene where Raoden figures out how to fix Aon Dor but is still unable to target himself or Galladon seems like it would have had a lot to do with it. The whole failing to complete the metamorphosis into an Elantrian probably disconnected them from their Spiritual selves (including their Identity) to some degree causing many things to not function properly. More generally, I think that Connection, Identity, Investiture and Fortune are probably the four most critical Spiritual aspects and are likely to be present in most magic systems. Mistborn stuff to follow.
  7. I thought that burning any amount of Aluminum instantly wiped your metals. Does burning Aluminum wipe your Aluminum?
  8. That WoB is very interesting. Does that mean that an Aluminum misting who is actively burning their metal could vaporize bullets as they entered their body?
  9. I wonder if he could Soulcast something that’s already in his stomach into an Allomantic metal.
  10. I can’t see Brandon writing something like that in. Stuff like that effectively removes the limits that make the story possible. Otherwise you have a bunch of quasi-Shard level people running around doing what ever they want. There’s only room for one of those and the spots already taken.
  11. What happens if you give your breath to a pig (or any other moderately intelligent animal). MB spoils
  12. Cosmere lessons with Zahel for the radiant bunch. Bondsmith throwdown with Dalinar and Ishar. Dalinar will use a certain evil destroying sword to kill him since heralds don't die easy. Navani makes a fabrial that uses Dalinar's pretty new ruby. Armor for Kal and maybe Dalinar (I'm fairly sure Jasnah has hers already). Adolin swears at his sword. Hopefully Jasnah and Malata have a fight. I think their surges would be cool against one another.
  13. If you quoted my post before I added the spoiler tab please edit it. Don’t want to Ruin anything.
  14. It may actually have a harder time manifesting in the Physical depending on how the Shards all fit together. If they were one piece with one intent when they were all together then it shouldn't be any problem at all. If they were all discrete pieces then Adonalsium may have been even more crippled than Harmony.
  15. That first one is pretty conclusive. Confirms it was a living thing and asigns it a male pronoun. So much for that idea.
  16. I didn't know about Marsh in the next series, so thanks for the heads up there (so many WoBs out there and I've only read a few). As for the other, I feel like Hemalurgy is going to have to come into play as a tool for the good guys at some point. Like Spook said, "If we don't use it, someone else will". You make a good point about mistings seeming weak until Wax came along, but keep in mind that he hasn't had to go up against anything as dangerous as a Mistborn. While I don't doubt that he would put up a good fight against one, I still feel confident that he would stand little to no chance of winning. I do think that, given his mastery of steel, Wax would be able to jump into iron very easily and it would undeniably make him imminently more threatening. You should also keep in mind that I'm a chronic fanboy of overpowered heroes. As an example, Superman and Thor are my favorite heroes from their respective universes, so maybe this is all just me projecting what I want into the story.
  17. That’s two questions. What did it look like & was it alive? I can’t help but wonder if it was non sentient & they shattered it so that they could use its power in a directed fashion.
  18. I think Syl is as close as Kal will come to a romance in the books. Sorry for the MB spoils, forgot this was just Stormlight.
  19. Good point. I guess it’s a bit like stormlight in that way.
  20. I have two conflicting theories about how Era 2 will play out and would love to hear what others think. Theory 1: Marsh will be attacked & killed. Before he dies he will give Wax his Allomantic Atium spike & his secret stash. Wax will go Grammaton Cleric on the enemy & wipe out an army single handedly. Theory 2: Ranette will get spiked by the Set early in the book. They will track down the killer & recover the spike. It will become necessary for Wax to use the spike on himself to save the day. Bonus points if Wax is having an internal struggle about the moral implications & Wayne spikes him to settle it. Double bonus points if he says "she would have wanted you to have it". Theory 1 sounds cool & matches the expected title of the book. I like theory 2 more because it would be more painful to lose Ranette (even though Marsh is one of my favorites) & it would make Wax feel more "complete" in terms of his powers. He would have both halves of the external physical metals. He would also be an Iron compounder which frankly would make him a god when combined with his pushes. He would also gain half steelsight like Kelsier if he gets it in the eye.
  21. Wow that's interesting. Wouldn't that mean that there is an exponential gain in power over time with increased Investiture? Example: You tap a Nicrosilmind and increase your Investiture level for all of the Allomantic metals to double what it usually is. You can now burn twice as much metal in the same amount of time and get twice as much power as usual resulting in four times as much total power over time. The numbers are just hypothetical, it would still work even if doubling your Investiture only increased burn rate and efficiency by a fraction. Depending on the actual rate of increase you could quickly reach a level where you're getting thousands of times the normal power from your metals. Imagine a Mistborn with Hemalurgic F-Nicrosil who walks around storing constantly for years. They could unleash steel pushes that could knock a planet off its axis. Cough.. Kelsier
  22. Sorry if there is already a topic discussing this, I tried searching the forums but couldn't find it. Does the amount of power that an Allomancer gains from a certain amount of metal depend on their Investiture level or is it fixed. For example, if Vin and Elend were both to swallow an equal amount of pewter and burn it at full flare, would Elend run out faster? or would they burn at the same speed and Elend would simply gain more power from the same amount of metal? Thanks in advance
  23. It sounds a bit dirty if you turn it around and make it "Shard Puncher".
  24. Marsh. He single handedly killed all of the Inquisitors. He also projects the "quiet badass" persona that I find appealing in characters (shout out to Lan Mandragoran).
  25. He could have gotten them in Southern Scadrial, where they were made. He could have also made them himself if he has access to the appropriate Feruchemical powers. The jury is still out on whether he is a Fullborn so do with that what you will.
