Good catch, I had completely forgotten about that. I guess that puts their military tech at late medieval which would be right around the time that cannons started being developed. Cannon fabrials? Head cannon fabrials..

Shard Blade Hamster Bubble
SwordNimiForPresident replied to SwordNimiForPresident's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'd be interested to see what limits Brandon has written down for what a Shard blade can be summoned as. As far as I can see all you need to do is "stretch forth thy hand" and summon a 36 1/2 foot long pole that also just so happens to pierce your enemies three times to small heart. -
Cosmere Battle Royale: Hoid vs. ??

I doubt that it could either. Just because Hoid thinks there's a chance that it could, doesn't mean that it definitely could.- 20 replies

If I had to put a date on their tech level it would probably fall between the fall of Rome and Charlemagne. At least in terms of Military tech. Everything else seems like early Renaissance.

Shard Blade Hamster Bubble

Kal summons Syl as a shield when he's fighting Szeth. -
As the title suggests, I posit that a Radiant could form a bubble out of their blade. While the plate can be broken and shattered the blade seems to be nearly indestructible. Since they can summon their blade in almost any form, why not a hamster bubble? Windrunners and Skybreakers should be able to fly in theirs, Dustbringers and Edgedancers should be able to make theirs "awesome", and Lightweavers should be able to turn theirs into a disco ball.

Perhaps Navani will create a fabrial that operates similarly to a gun or crossbow. There's probably a bunch of ways you could use a trapped spren to launch a projectile.
-
They have open access to the Cognitive Realm now so outside influence is a possibility. Several of the Radiants have interacted with world hoppers now as well so I expect some crossover going forward. Zahel and Azure feel more like major plot points than easter eggs. They're either there to introduce the Cosmere at large to Roshar or they are a vehicle to put Nightblood in Dalinar's hands (head cannon).

Shard laser/plasma/arc gun. Just saying. Warbreaker and Mistborn Spoilers

I think that's why he avoids giving us to much Hoid PoV. To many spoilers floating around in those ancient heads. I find that half of the fun in fantasy books is learning about the universe with the characters rather than just knowing it all up front.

I feel like Kelsier's house is something that needs to be asked of Brandon. I vote Slytherin though. Marsh is a Gryffindor for sure. He's completely selfless and probably the bravest character out of all the protagonists. Vin would kill the sorting hat before it could sort her. Breeze and Allrianne are both Slytherin. Ham and Spook are Puffs. Saze, Elend and Dox are Claws. Clubs is Filch.

If we're looking for minor traumas I think the best place would be Shallan's squires.

In chapter 17 of Edgedancer she says that her mother died in her inner monologue.

Ideal studio for a Mistborn video game?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Invocation's topic in Mistborn
I could see era 2 making a good FPS (though I can't recommend a studio here). They could have you play through the books as Wax. It would be easier to manage just have A-Steel and F-Iron rather than the full suite of powers. I'm picturing gameplay like Halo where you have fixed maps so its more about learning where to use your steel to win rather than just jumping around in an open world. It could be fun to have Wayne pop in at random parts of each level, throw up a speed bubble, say something stupid and wise, and then bounce away. -
Ideal studio for a Mistborn video game?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Invocation's topic in Mistborn
That would depend on the genre of game. Personally I don't think that Mistborns magic would translate well into a 1st or 3rd person RPG. So much of it is internal and the external parts would be very challenging to control. How would you select targets for your steel pushes? You would need to be able to do it at the speed of thought in order for it to be effective. Breaking it down by genre though: 4x stategy based in Scadrial: Paradox is my fave for 4x but I think the cool parts of Allomancy would be a little wasted on their model. You'd need something like the Total War games where you could deploy your Mistborn on the field of battle and watch them murder the enemy army. 3rd person RPG: CD Project Red are probably the best world builders out there. If you haven't played the Witcher 3, do it (insert Shia meme here). It's a beautiful game and has a compelling story. Ignoring the mechanical concerns that I mentioned earlier I think they could do a great job with it. Dungeon crawler: RedHook could probably do some cool stuff. I really enjoyed Darkest Dungeon and I think Mistborn would work in a similar context. Another important question is what era are we talking about here. I was assuming era 1 for all of these suggestions. Edit: Metroidvania genre: Motion Twin. Love their art and Dead Cells has really solid game play. -
Lift probably has to do with losing her mother. Ditto for Renarin plus what Invocation said. You can reference the over 9000 posts about why Jasnah broke. Lopen is faking it.
-
So long. They even wrote a book about it.
-
I'd walk from Abamabar to Urithiru for the ending.
-
I can't help but wonder if it has something to do with assassins or an assassination attempt in some way. During the PoV that was brought up several times in this thread Jasnah was on her way to meet with an assassin with whom she had a working relationship. Maybe its just a normal part of noble life to constantly be feeling out the local assassins, but its the only instance of it that we see in the books. I don't know if this is supposed to be relevant to the story or if its simply a plot device to put her in a position to confront Ivory.

Cosmere Battle Royale: Hoid vs. ??
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Hoiditthroughthegrapevine's topic in Cosmere Discussion
A few issues with the scenario: Humans need at least four Hemalurgic spikes to be controlled according to the Set's research. Almost nothing poses a threat to Hoid's life. Nightblood might and the Shards definitely do. So pretty much it would have to be someone capable of using Nightblood and capable of catching Hoid. I'd go with a Dustbringer with double steel from spikes. You would need Division to counter his soul casting and double steel plus Abrasion would make you literally into the Flash. Pretty much that's the only way I see a blow being landed. Oh.. and you'd need Nightblood (which is a maybe at best for killing him). Personally I think Hoid is Fullborn rather than Mistborn, so even this wouldn't be enough, but it's the best I can come up with. There's also the fact that he might be able to realmaticly transfer at will now without a perpendicularity. Shallan is able to partially enter the Cognitive realm when she soulcasts so all bets are off on what Hoid could do with that. I think the Aluminum shell around the arena would weigh more than the original planet btw. I'm sure there's someone here that's already doing the math though so we will see. TLDR: Hoid v anyone isn't a fair fight. He's the Mary Sue of this story.- 20 replies

Marsh was a good guy who fought back from the start. Moash is already way past the point of “I was secretly good all along”. He’s probably going to end up as Odium’s champion which means he also has to die at some point. I think his story will be an anti redemption one. Instead of someone who followed the wrong path coming back to the light, we will have a guy who was never really that great to begin with sinking deeper and deeper into evil. TLDR: don’t put your Moash on my Marsh

Hoid is a Mistborn
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Scion of the Mists's topic in Cosmere Discussion
In my opinion the surges are divided evenly between Honor and Cultivation. Cultivation has all of the surges that are about change: Division, Pregression, Transformation, Cohesion and Adhesion. Honor gets the surges that deal with changing the laws of nature: Gravitation, Abrasion, Lightweaving (which seems to be about controlling vibration/frequency), Transportation (relative motion maybe?) and Tension. I think Stormlight is a combo Investiture like the Dor, so what Cultivation did with Lift seems to have added a new ability that is Pure Cultivation. Do we know if Lift is converting food to Stormlight? Or is she simply using it as a path to other Investiture that she is able to power the surges with? The resonance you’re talking about is caused by the interaction of the two surges that the Surgebinder has access to. -
My understanding of F-Bendalloy is that is stores "nutrition and calories" or water. Since some (iron and zinc for sure, maybe copper?) of the Allomantic pure metals are also necessary minerals for humans to survive, could you store your non-alloyed metals in a Benalloymind for later use?

It would mean that Odium had stolen 9 magic systems, not that there are only 9 in the Cosmere. I think there are more than 9 on Sel alone. Does anyone have any thoughts on which of the Unmade would allow for Thunderclasts? Also, what magic system do you think Nergaoul is copying? I can't relate what he does to anything we've seen.
