  1. @Archer can you add this character to the list?
  2. I sung it in my head as I read the second sentence.
  3. It was discovered for the first time that Butt was actually illiterate.
  4. Knew I'd wind up changing the name - this one is just way more fitting. Name: Gonev Dvarim Investiture: None Skills: Can pick locks. Fast. And walks silently. Also physically flexible and can come up with excuses to get out of almost anything. Weaknesses: No combat skills and suffers from pollen allergies. Age: 16 Family: N/A Physical characteristics: Completely average. Brown hair, brown eyes. Not that tall, not that short. Nothing unique. History: Born at the very end of the SDW, but never knew his family since they were killed. Grew up by the harbor (the fisherman raised him till he was 6) stealing food to survive and staying in people's homes while they were away.
  5. @whattheHoid However many times you will curse me to lose the Game (I'm going there right after this, don't worry), your constant contributions to the Longest Thread will always be wonderful and entertaining. And I'm curious to see what you'll do now in the Alleyverse.
  6. From how it sounds, these Collectors could technically become very powerful - if we knew what they got from the host. Problem is, we don't know what that is or why they want it which is kind of important. They seem like they must have some incentive, otherwise this relationship is basically a commensalism (one side benefits, nothing happens to the other). I'm assuming the "parasite" does have some goal - it may not. Is it sentient? And if it isn't, then what is it? It's easy to just say something exists, but to really make it work, everything needs to be thought through. Secondly, what do you mean when you say the "tentacles line the bloodstream"? How does that work? Do they inhabit a humanoid creature with veins and the like? And finally, how would the inhabited figure out that the Collectors exist? How would they realize what this is and not just dismiss it as soft magic and so too prevent you from developing the system? Sorry about the strange phraseology of questions - if they don't make sense, just ask. And welcome back (a little late, but I was offline when you officially returned)!

  8. "Never" and "Approves" were his middle names.

  10. It's an essential part of Shard. The people who can deal with you at your most annoying-est point are the people who probably were annoying too. So basically everyone ends up being fine with eachother since we all were awful at some point and it's typically just a phase.
  11. False. The ones baked by the real TUBA (The Underground Baker;s Association) are perfectly fine and wonderful. So the fortune cookie offered by @The Happy Alpaca is completely okay for eating. The cookies baked by the other TUBA, are not however. Welcome to Shard and here's a cookie courtesty of the real TUBA. Also, the mods and admins and other people with power don't like when people double post. A lot of people make that mistake when just starting out, so don't feel bad. Typically, to avoid the need, click the edit button and add whatever you want to the previous post if you want to add something.
  12. This was all becoming very interesting indeed. While Pry pitied this woman for the loss of her child, she herself would be quite broken if any of her siblings were dead, she knew the dead should stay dead. Pry listened to Araha reprimanding Damaya's mother. It should have made her feel satisfied. Instead it only made her uneasy. The last thing this woman needed to be told is that she was wrong. She knew she just wanted to feel success - that something had gone her way. One daughter literally dead and the other not following in her footsteps at all. She needed some reassurance. But unfortunately, she wasn't going to get any. Pry ran her fingers through her hair thinking, while acting without planning had worked before, she didn't want to press her luck. What would you do if you were her? How would you feel if your daughter brought home friends who were here to destroy what's most precious to you? she asked herself. You would feel betrayed, yet she seems all to happy to reaccept Damaya. Something is even more off than we can see. We're missing something. Something big. Except try as she might, Pry couldn't figure it out. She needed more facts and events. She needed context. Because without context she knew there would be no way to come out of here with a peaceful solution. Already things were in thin ice and Pry was going to do her best to make sure that ice didn't crack.
  13. He's a very unsuspicious character to whom we have denied membership]. He seems like a very nice and transparent person.
  14. &&&&&&&&&&&& Despite all the changes around me, I have not changed.
  15. What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of life? What role does sulfur play with haor? What role do celebrities play in our lives? Why are humans so materialistic? Are humans materialistic? And to counter Ark's questions: Would you hug one stranger to save seven? Would you hug seven strangers to save one of your loved ones?
  16. Good. Or rather, good for everyone else. She'd gotten her attention - now she just had to figure out what to do with it. Without looking away, Pry felt around in her pockets. Finding what she was looking for, she pulled out a small square of fraying fabric. It wouldn't do to waste any of the good stuff on this. Pry unpinned a threaded needle from where she'd left it hanging on the hem of her shirt. Then she began to stitch her message by touch. She used large stitches as to conserve time and thread, and while it wasn't perfect, the end result wasn't illegible. Keeping her face impassive, Pry lifted up the fabric so the woman could see. When did you last see the sun? There was no deep meaning behind the message, but she had a feeling it looked like there was. That was what mattered.
  17. The Bible can be pretty dry on its own, but some commentators are really amusing to read. At least the Jewish ones - I've never read any others. Sometimes they've left a hint of a joke in their words or an interesting fact according to the science of their time. Like: "If you want to know medical advice, why are you reading this? Go to a doctor of your day and age" except in Ivrit. And since this needs another controversial opinion: Math textbooks are really fun to read. That's what I call light reading.
  18. Happy birthday @Chaos. @BitBitio the Mudkip, together we average to a normal size. And even though you all haven't come on in quite a while, don't feel like your birthdays don't matter @OmegaGreen, @Shardstorm, @Soladir, and @johnathan.lanham. Happy birthday to you as well.
  19. Oscar the Grouch was very happy with this new developement. He became very rich indeed.

  21. The aardvark is on top of a turtle and then it's turtles all the way down. Obviously.
  22. Classics are just books someone randomly decided were important. They were never intended to be disected and destroyed with analyzing. William Golding's Lord of the Flies shouldn't be famous. Neither should War and Peace. It's literally known for being dry. Harry Potter is over done. The books aren't really that great. Rick Riordan tries too hard to stick political messages into his books. K-pop is just American pop music in another language. Why is it such a big deal? Zane, after Szeth and Spook, is my third favorite Sanderson character. And finally, just because a book makes you cry, doesn't mean it's a good book.
