  1. Welcome to the Shard! I was going to direct you to the Fanworks section for the fanfiction, though it seems you found it on your own yesterday. Mistborn is a really good series too, but Warbreaker might be a better place to go next because of [REDACTED].
  2. The umbrella wasn't sure what to think of him.
  3. Freedom secured the piece of foil Mike handed her to the wall. The main issue with the ceiling would be avoiding anyone falling in. Besides for the obvious of not knowing what would happen to them, people contained innate investiture which could cause more issues. The aluminum, though, that could probably safely fall in. However, other than one person tossing an unraveling piece across the Vortex to someone on the other side who would attach it to the ceiling, there didn't seem to be another way to reach all the surfaces that didn't involve going larger than the single room. And the ceiling, of all the surfaces, would end up the closest to the coming Alleystorm...
  4. Happy birthday, Rebecca! Have some birthday wafflles. ^_^

Thanks! And that’s okay; I’m happy to share. :D

  5. Confrontation. Freedom expected her heart rate to speed up significantly, but it didn't. It seemed she was unintentionally working on becoming less like a frightened rabbit. She gave him a lilt of a smile, avoiding answering the question directly. "Me? I just end up at the right place at the right time. Or wrong place, depending on the situation." Her fingers drifted over the brand on her forehead on their way to pushing back a loose curl. Hair out of the way, an atium earring became visible. Lusk walked in with the foil and Freedom kept her attention pointedly away from him. He'd recognized her despite the older age, she was almost certain, and hadn't made any note aloud, but she wasn't going to push her luck. "I could need another hand or two," one of the Ghostbloods called. The sound brought Freedom out of her hole of wondering and she hurried over to help.
  6. Twenty days from now, I Ieave to the realm of the middle of nowhere. I get back a month later, but then school starts up almost immediately. Meaning, a major drop in activity for a while.

Closer to I hope to create a plan for all my RP characters to account for that. I’d do it now if it weren’t for that a lot can change in three weeks.

This is just an advance warning. Twenty days is a while, but time does fly sometimes and it typically doesn't hurt to attempt to be responsible on rare occasion.

We'll miss you. If there's any way I can help with you taking care of your characters, getting them out of the picture or anything, tell me - you've certainly helped me enough...

  7. Freedom watched the Vortex. Aluminum, that might work. After the kidnapping she'd done research into other forms of Investiture. It seemed aluminum could prevent stormlight in some ways--a shardblade couldn't cut it magically--and in general, it protected a person from Allomancy. Soothing parlors for instance. She'd never been in one, but she'd walked past many times and never felt the Push on her emotions. So if aluminum could keep Investiture in there was no reason it couldn't keep it out. There were two possibilities of what they could do. Toss aluminum in and see what would happen, or simply prevent Investiture from entering. The second sounded less risky, but either way they'd need aluminum. She looked at the man who'd sent a text. "Can you ask for some of that to be in foil form? Surrounding it might be just as effective."
  8. Then Pita popped into existence and made it into a square.
  9. How many exclamation points should one use? What's the difference between a dash (--) and a hyphen (-)? Sugar cubes? What is a Nathrang and how did you become their king?
  10. Hurt Raoden, heal Elend Elend - 9 Susebron - 8 Dalinar - 9 Raoden - 6
  11. The ghanderflaffles donned their plaid, equipped with axes, and decided to change their focus and become lumberjacks.

  14. Eiran was already below ground once more and on his way back to Joe when the next vision hit him. No. It couldn't be. It made perfect sense, though. Nothing else would make the Vortex expand so large and let so much out and into the tunnels. He'd thought it would be Ajax himself, but even that felt far-fetched. The Alleystorm on the other hand...it could do it. It could be the push necessary. Never mind could, it would. And the storm--that they couldn't stop. There were only two things left to do. Tell DA get someone to Vortex asap. Also might need use emergency evac to Bass. Underground could get breached if Alleystorm reach Vortex and citizens=sitting ducks. he sent to Deteca, barely two minutes since he'd left DIDGERIDOO. The typos, poor format, and messed up grammar hurt his head to look at. Their existence would only increase the feeling of urgency. It was possible that this wasn't what the future held. He really hoped it wasn't--that the things leading up to what he had seen would change and make that future obsolete. But he'd been an actuary before adjusting the tactic to work for TUBA and an actuary, even one who could see the future on occassion, always had to plan for the worst. --- Freedom nodded. Given that the Vortex absorbed the things it touched, sealing the room wouldn't do anything. The thought of not being in the same room as it was a nice one, though. Out of sight, out of mind concept.
  15. Everything makes so much sense now. Thank you. This has been confusing me for months. It’s never been the font, but rather the size. Arial is weird and doesn’t shrink the letters proportionally. The ‘o’s and many other letters become rounder as they shrink and make it look like it might be a different font when it’s not. Results of experimenting below proving the increase in width for anyone who might possibly interested*:
  16. Did the default font change again? I'm almost positive it's fully Calibri like it used to be, but now there seems to be Arial for other things, like the "Create New Topic" title at the top of this page. That might have been like that before, though. The font for posts, at least, looks different. Is that just my imagination?
  17. The ghanderflaffles noted that minimal effort still was effort. They were content with the government at the moment anyways.
  18. The ghanderflaffles didn't want to rise up--they'd become lazy.

  20. "The guys who worked on it had no idea how to shut it down. I don't think in a few minutes we'll figure out how," Freedom said. She bit her lip in thought. Who in this place would know what to do with this? That Ajax figure likely knew how to shut it down--then again, he'd be more likely to make things worse. The only other possibility that immediately came to mind was also a group that might want to take advantage of it. Except, the Alleystorm was coming like the man said and there wasn't a ton a ton of time. "What about the DA, though?" Freedom didn't think about the guilds like most people did. They weren't end all be all walls that couldn't overlap in her head, rather specializations. The GBs were experts in assassination, the DA was the best with science, and TUBA had a focus on baking. They bickered and fought, sure, but it was very similar to what siblings did. Even the closest ones, she thought of Precious and their many arguments before she'd left. At the end of the day, they needed one another to not fall apart, despite what they would claim. She also knew that most people didn't think about it that way and that her suggestion would likely be shot down as lunacy. Oh, well.
  21. The point system was created to lower the power levels from OP to manageable and decrease the amount of brainless violence. Voidus mentioned earlier eliminating the point system altogether--which, in my opinion, would be a better solution than raising the alloted number of points. The moment it's raised, almost everyone would bring their character to that level. Nothing would change. Interesting roleplay comes as a bi-product of well developed characters, not only powerful ones. Radiant progression in their Oaths is something that should be addressed, though. If that were to be changed, we would have to take into account creating ways to ensure it really is a progression as a result of real character development to the character and not simply at the character's writer's whim. Yes, the skills section is incomplete. Like Kenod said, it's impossible to stick everything in. That's another reason why the point system isn't perfect. Mental powers tend to be less of a skill because it's typically more of a reflection of how the character is written. Some people are good at writing smart characters, others are better at less intelligent ones. Inclusion of the mental could end up being more of a burden than a help. Also, iirc, there's intelligence as a skill. Focus could be considered a part of that. Then again, I've started leaning away from highly skilled and Invested characters. My opinions are all biased a certain way because of that.
  22. This was because the disease from the zucchini-goats transferred through the milk to them.
