Eiran disliked the way he'd been eyed after revealing to them what he could do. It wouldn't matter much in the long run. After this, he planned on holing back up in one of the many TUBA basements with loads and loads and loads of paperwork and not surfacing for as long as possible. If any TUBA buildings still existed after this was over... Stop being such a pessimist. he told himself. Everything's going to be fine. A DA leader offered the use of spikes to help with the evacuation. This he left to Deteca as it would to an extent define to the others what TUBA was--whether the guild was simply an anti-DA in every way or something more. "I believe I speak for all of TUBA when I say safety and protection are our greatest desires. If it takes spikes to achieve those, then Hemalurgy is what we'll use." She said. Deteca glanced at him and Tena for a moment before continuing. Eiran gave her a nod of his approval, despite the fact it had very little value. "Though I will admit that I hope this is the only time we have to, and it is up to each person's individual opinion." There was just one thing left to address. "What's the disclaimer, as most likely there is one?" he asked.

Sparks. This was what he'd wanted to avoid. Hoped to, at the very least. "And say, if Lord Ajax wished to convince you he weren't there, do you think he would be the one tell you what he could do?" he said. His heart rate sped up. Except, he knew that would only raise her suspicions. Psychology wound in circles and there was no way out of this one. At least, no dependable one. "The reason I led you here anyways despite the risk of being seen," Eiran said, standing up and moving back a few paces. "is because I hadn't seen a big enough risk to not do it. And I don't quite feel I have the authority to say not to meet simply because of a possibility." The pounding of his heart echoed through his entirety. "I see danger," he said trembling. "and I only saw three futures in which the danger came in the form of spren. Three out of thousands, millions, billions - however many are out there. The risk remains, but it's tiny. Miniscule. Enough to be noted, but not enough to kill someone over. "There are not here at this moment. And if they were and were planning on reporting back or doing anything that would wind back to harm us, I'd know they were here. Everything said so far in this building has been secure. Your conversations elsewhere do not have that certainty. Anything you've said to anyone since this began is able to be in their hands. "But here, here is fine. And mostly safe. For now." Eiran met her eyes, almost begging her to look and see the honesty laying right there.

Eiran sipped his tea. It was the perfect temperature. Warm, but not to the point it would burn his tongue. He'd been pretty sure that would be the case, though some futures had still appeared and shown him having to hide his pain from the heat. It had been a gamble that paid off. The math had been in his favor and it had worked out. He wished all things were that low risk. Unfortunately, they weren't. "KanMien will not be restricted. They are as equal as any of us here," he said to the DA member who'd wanted to put them on a leash. "That aside, we have no way of knowing for certain we aren't being watched. Don't be naive enough to think this Lord Ajax hasn't been watching us. He has. Doubt it if you'd like, but you," he gestured to Lusk, "should know that they have forms of spren that have never been seen before. The one who negotiated with your people for instance." He knew there was no logical way for TUBA to have known about that. Revealing it was a risk. Another risk he hoped would pay off. "We're pretty sure there's an invisible type of spren hanging around as well. Anything said anywhere to anyone is something we should assume has been seen and countered by our enemy." Eiran thought of the spot on the ceiling back in TUBA HQ. While they had never proven the theory of being watched, it seemed the most likely explanation to that vision. "Do you understand what kind of enemy we're facing? Truly? "Lord Ajax is like that spren. Always changing forms and able to appear as anything. If he gets through that Vortex, there's no stopping him. The frying pan creatures will look cuddly in comparison. Almost no possibility of saving this place. First chance we get, closing the Vortex needs to be a top priority. Research will need to come second because at the end of the day, it's more important to most of us here to save lives "You asked us what information TUBA had," Eiran said to Lusk. "This is it, for the moment." For the moment. Those were the key words. They were going away from some of the paths that led to destruction, but more opened up every moment. Eiran looked back at his tea. A swirl of steam rose up from it. He blew it away.

2,000 is only 27 posts away. I'm not a big round milestone number person, but 2,000 is 2,000 and, well, that's a large number.
Ideas of what to do for it, anyone?
(Most likely it'll end up like my 1,000th anyways - in someone's introduction thread

Oh, no that was just me.
My keyboard is both attracted to and scared off by memes, and I'm been making a lot today.

"I wasn't even born during the Seven Day War. Maybe it is the same level of desperation. Maybe it's not. That's one thing history books never tell you," Eve said. "How to act when it's your turn." Tels made valid points. Points she'd heard over and over again before. The same blatantly careless and uncalculated points. But even the most basic things had truth. He moved away and she let out a breath. Lena and Alask had a short conversation. She watched Alask debate the course of action. Finally he turned to them. "We're doing it. The other people who summoned the Phoenix, they did it by accident, hadn't researched. We," Alask said, holding up the documents. "Have the information, we know what to do, and we can show the guilds that we can do things too, we won't stand around while they dawdle." He looked at Eve, slightly apologetically. She winced slightly on the direct acknowledgement. "It may seem like it'll do more harm than good, but this time it's different. We can do this." She broke the eye contact. Tels stepped into the other room to call someone. To get that Invested's help, she presumed. Lena was smiling. "They will tell this story for years to come," she said. "So we wait and see if he can find someone, if he can't, we'll try to find a fitting person ourselves." She put more food on the table along with utensils. "Help yourselves." Eve wasn't hungry. Her mind was flashing through possibilities of what could go wrong. Of how the situation might end up worse. "For everyone's sakes," she said to Alask, sitting back down on the armrest she'd perched on earlier. "I hope you're right."

He really had no idea. "This," she gestured out the window, "is not war. This is one force attacking another. This is a battle. "Destruction of the city, sadly, is nothing new. Every few years it gets demolished. PlasmaCore is nothing new. Sure it comes by a new name, but at the end of the day it's just another force trying to cause trouble. That's not new. That's old. They use different methods, yet still fall under that category. "War is different. War is the guilds turning on one another. Here at least they appear to be trying to get along. In war, they hate backing down. It's much worse. Much much worse. Pick up a history book someday, Tels." Eve turned away, back towards the window. Hair fell in her face and covered an eye. She didn't push it back. "You all do what you like, but know it's likely not going to help in the long run. Earlier I criticized the guilds for not planning for the long term. Don't sink to their level."
-
Eiran didn't pay too much attention to the DA members. Every guild had their internal politics, some more than others--it wasn't his place to watch and judge. "Share everything," Eiran recommended softly to Deteca. Everything as in everything. Even the things that hadn't happened yet and might not happen. Everything everything. "Don't feel a need to hold back anything." He sat back in his seat, hands holding a warm cup of tea. TUBA might not have had as much solid information as the Ghostbloods, but they did have information the others likely had not known about. The fate of the Alleyverse depended on how this went, to an extent. The number of poor outcomes decreased greatly when they shared everything. There still were many not so pleasant futures, but he hoped the decrease meant an increase in positive ones.

Eve stayed quiet as she mulled it over. The Phoenix could destroy PlasmaCore. That was a given. But it would come at a cost. The cost of lives. Do you want lives on your hands? her subconscious asked her. Do you want to be the reason someone is dead? You, a sixteen year old, just to try and do something? Lives of guild members. she thought. The people who have hurt this city many times.Except...if they were in the building, they were trying to help the city. They'd be killing the very people they needed around most. Eve wasn't anti-guild, she was just opposed to what they represented. The people themselves weren't the issue, rather the philosophy. And how would they even get it mind-controlled in the first place? The points of her subconscious were too large to ignore. "...maybe someone with the right Investiture?" Alask asked. She'd missed the start of the question, but the meaning still transferred. They'd need someone with Investiture to help. Eve swallowed. An Invested. "I doubt we'll be able to contain it Alask. The heroes of the Seven Day War couldn't, and we are just four, none of us hero like them. If we call it here, we have to accept, that it will probably try to kill every living being in this city," Lena said. "I heard a rumor, that some pretty strong people are running through the Sewer's right now. One of them is said to be able to influence people in a strong way. One of the Canton leaders." She shook her head, subconscious winning over the conscious mind. No. This would never work correctly. It would only harm the situation. "To use a guild to harm another guild attempting to solve an issue is to start a war. And a war is the last thing we need." Do you want lives on your hands? The question echoed through her again. No. I don't. Because despite her efforts to act otherwise, despite everything she'd been through, she was a teenager. A broken, hateful, and passionate one, but a teenager nonetheless. And most teenagers with a conscience weren't killers at heart.

Whatever happened to Baxil (Game)?
Silva replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Baxil decided he didn't want to be a minion any longer. He was fed up with poor pay and poor jobs. He became a writer and decided to share his story with Earth. But, of course, no publisher wanted to publish a story just about Baxil, so he had to stick in some other stuff like Kaladin, Shallan, and Dalinar. Filler really. Then people started to only care about those characters. And in every draft, Baxil became more and more cut out until finally he vanished almost entirely. Baxil = Brandon Sanderson So, if Ene is also right, then Chaos = Baxil = Sanderson, meaning Chaos = Sanderson via the transitive property. Illuminati confirmed. -

Mart's sleeping face was so calm. So innocent. So undisturbed. So young. He reminded her of herself a long time ago, before everything had gone wrong multiple times. Hopeful of the world and worring about the wrong things. She hoped he wouldn't lose that for a long while. "Exactly what it sounds like," Eve said to Tels. "A DA creation in the form of a phoenix." She focused back on Alask. "The very idea that we could summon it is insane on its own, but say it were possible. How do we know it would help the situation and not simply worsen it? During the Seven Day War, when it appeared, it killed some Invested and injured many others. The second time, in Oasis, the people who fought it barely survived. The Phoenix doesn't come without a price."

Eiran froze at the sight of the picture. It wasn't that he'd never seen anything like it before, it was because he had. Too many times. "In the building," he said softly, "was there any mention of a Lord something?"

There were people, Eiran noted as he peered through the window. A lot of people. Way more than anticipated. Some more DA people - was that Mac?! - along with a man he recognized as a Ghostblood. He shuddered. Something was going to go wrong. There was no way they'd be able to get along long enough to prevent the imminent doom. There was too much pressure and not enough time. The Vortex was going to grow. It was going to expand. It was going to fill the streets with more not-abominations. There wasn't a way to prevent it. The Alleyverse was doomed with them still inside it. No. It's not. he reminded himself. There's still hope. Eiran walked over and pulled the door open. "Come on in. Better to be indoors. Lower chance of being attacked by frying pan creatures and easier to communicate," he paused. "And we have cookies." @Ark's Boyfriend @Voidus @I think I am here. @AonEne

Eiran swallowed. He knew her phraseology wasn't intentional, but the word 'seen' came with a double connotation to him. "Mostly evacuation. Some other stuff as well." Like that thing that kept changing shape and form. Lord something. Everyone always turned away from his view before he could try and read from their lips what they said after the honorific. "What about you?" he asked, trying to turn the attention off himself as quickly as possible. Despite the tentative truce, Eiran wasn't in any hurry to let on too much about his ability. It was an unnecessary risk for afterwards. He was a behind the scenes kind of guy. Having a lot of knowledge on him in the DA would not be in his best interest.

*starts theorizing about font changes in signatures* *squints at the 'o's in an attempt to determine if they're Arial-like or Calibri-like* *is pretty sure they're Calibri-like* *tries to recall if signatures always were* *fails and remains unsure* Wild theory: During the last switch to Arial, signatures also turned to Arial. This latest update somehow switched them back. Calibri, being slightly smaller, shrank down Ene's signature.

The silence was eerie. Almost worst than the actual communicating earlier. He felt like they must have been discussing something, but how, he had no clue. He pulled out the tray of cookies he'd put in the mini-oven. The chocolate was just about to melt and the scent of baked goodness traveled up his nostrils. Heaven on the Alleyverse. Besides, no one ever liked to have serious conversations without warm cookies. Hopefully Deteca and whoever was planning on coming there with her would get there soon enough. Otherwise he'd have to stick the cookies back in the oven, which would shift them even farther away from prime moistness. "So. How has your night been? Busy?" one of them asked. Eiran jumped slightly at the sudden noise. "Y-yeah. Just been one thing after another." And one horrific vision after another since the first one of the empty spot on the ceiling. He still wondered what that had been supposed to show. An image of Joe's mangled body materialized in his mind's eye. He knew Joe was skilled and wouldn't let that future happen, but he winced instinctively at it anyways.

"I've got Ghostblood running through my veins." Eve restrained herself from giving Tels a glare. Guess what? Ghostblood doesn't do much good if it's just an arrogant mess of Investiture. she thought bitterly. The guilds had their problems, and while she understand that, she didn't believe that gave them the right to act infallible. A guild didn't define your use, it would only harness it if you needed it to. The philosophy of needing a guild to be worthy was one she very much disliked. And, well, it seemed Tels was a follower of that philosophy. "I don't think finding him will pose a problem. We'll just stand on a roof and call out into the city, that we want to talk him. If we want to do that," Lena said, looking through the papers. "What is your plan?" She looked to Alask as well. Out of all of them, he was the most likely to have formulated something to do.

1. Because you believe for some reason that on rare occassions I have something decently insightful and productive to say? 2. Class placement for next year. The teacher is literally the best, but is super picky about who she lets in. So, yeah, I'm decently happy to know she doesn't hate my guts
