  1. @Kal-Eldin I assumed that Nale had abandoned his mission of hunting protoradiants at the point that Szeth was bonding/rebonding. Also @Silverlight awesome theory! Welcome! It’s kinda funny when I seen ur username I thought how has no one used that before? U r on a roll
  2. @Silva Good idea except that basically makes u Elvis wait no not really avlis. I think everyone’s joking about this but also secretly wishing it would happen for real
  3. @Oltux72 I don’t know that Cultivation could do that. They seem to be bound by rules we havent fully seen yet. Not to mention different motives. In fact they don’t seem to trust each other very much anyways
  4. @Kal-Eldin ur on the right track with the heralds being made up of investiture. IMO they are cognitive shadows. Questioner Have we seen cameos of Heralds on other Shardworlds? Brandon Sanderson The Heralds are tied to the system by the magic that permeates them. They could not leave. Questioner I thought I saw someone but I guess not. Brandon Sanderson It’s part of the magic. Some would call them Cognitive Shadows, right? Whether they are or not. "Cognitive Shadow" is a very ambiguous term in the cosmere. It means, basically your soul-- It's the same thing with petrification, right? Investiture replaced your soul, and permeated your soul, and your soul continues to exist, but... you are usually Invested with something, that's tied, and you're basically like pure Investiture then. You're tied to the thing you're Connected to. Most of the things that you're gonna see with that, travelling is going to be very difficult, unless you know how to do it. You have seen people do it. Questioner Who? Brandon Sanderson Vasher Brandon Sanderson Vasher... You have seen people do it. But anyone who's got-- yeah
  5. @whattheHoid I’m giving u a slow clap and Samuel l. Goatson is best name ever
  6. @Archer Obi-Wan, that is exactly what I needed. Thanks!
  7. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Terry Pratchett’s books. I looked at his bibliography and I have no idea where to start. He has like 8 million things. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  8. @Calderis Cool, thanks! I’ve seen him talking about how he was getting more serious about the cosmere aspect of his books around the time that he wrote aether and Mistborn. Because of that I was wondering if there was anything to “The Former” in relation to Brandon’s plan for the shards. Maybe like some backstory for Ati.
  9. I realize aether of night is not canon, but if it was, where would it take place in relation to the other books? Because I wonder if Brandon will actually end up cannibalizing even more parts or characters from the story. We’ve already seen a reference in Stormlight. Not only Mraize’s room, but literally the aether of night itself. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Is Re-Shephir related at all to the Midnight Essence in Aether of Night? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Yes. It's me, like-- Related in that Aether of Nightisn't canon, and I really liked how that worked in the cosmere, and I ported it to this instead. So that's like-- Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] So you're not gonna write Aether of Night? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Aether of Night, I might eventually write, but the Mid-- Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] It may be different? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Yeah Maybe he will make Darro part a member of the 17thshard Rainier [PENDING REVIEW] First, just please tell me anything about Nightblood--the book or the Type IV Awakened object. Or Warbreaker--the book or the Type II. Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] All right. My current plot for the book Nightblood. It's really minor, but it involves Darro entering the cosmere officially. He is a character from Aether of Night. He's a side character in that that I've always wanted to work into this main continuity, the real continuity, so he's coming
  10. Don’t tell me u sadist! I’ve been looking for hours! I was like that sounds so familiar... At first I tried just entering all the words minus goat into google, and kept coming up with this: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”. And then I was looking at Einstein quotes about equations. Should have kept it simple...
  11. Arent there lions mentioned in the mythology on ?
  12. @galendo I think this is really insightful. It is very similar to other things Cultivation has done. Also, even though that wob says they don’t all have numbers, perhaps a person could assign all of them a number anyways in an attempt to extrapolate the numbers that are associated. I wonder if anyone has done something like that on the site. I found this wob a minute ago it says that Cultivation has a lot to do with the Spren etc Chaos [PENDING REVIEW] So, at the Forbidden Planet signing you said that when Adonalsium was Shattered, all Investiture in the cosmere was associated to one of the Shards... So, what happened with Adonalsium's spren on Roshar? Were those associated to Honor and Cultivation? What happened with them? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] So they were very-- They were already associated to certain parts of Adonalsium and they went with those associations. There's a lot of Cultivation in all of the spren, particularly the natural spren.
  13. Welcome. It is true there are many spoilers. And cookies. How are u liking warbreaker? It’s one of my personal favorites
  14. If u go to the wiki for WOT you will be able to find a lot of Brandon’s responses along with Mr. Jordan’s
  15. These are the only wobs I could find in relation to ur question. Not much there but still very interesting. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Is the Iri religion based on knowledge of the [Shattering], anything like that? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Kind of, yes. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] But they don't know it? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] They don't know it, yeah. I would say yes, there are echoes of it. There are more recent events that they don't even quite remember that are more influential. Questioner I’ve been fixating on this mass exodus. The Iriali, the Iri people, are they the people of the mass exodus? Or-- I've always wanted it to be the people of Threnody. Brandon Sanderson The Iriali are not native to Roshar. Questioner Okay, that's... what I've always assumed. Brandon Sanderson There is stuff going on on Threnody too, it shares some similarities
  16. IGNITE THEM u guys ruined me on who’s that cosmere character because when u said “blind painter” I could not get Oree from The Broken Kingdoms out of my head. Which is not even Brandon!
  17. Maybe we can get AOL in Mistborn era 3. I can already hear that dial up.... Preorder your free trial CDs here!
  18. Sorry I was afk @Calderis Cool, I was actually talking about the magic of the “new atium” specifically. If it does shift over time and change slightly I wonder what ur predictions are of what it will do when someone burns it
  19. @Calderis do u think that the magic will stay the same?
  20. @Calderis Ok this has been bugging me though. Is this not just a technicality that Brandon is using to throw people off? Of course it won’t be called Atium because Ati no longer exists, but really it’s essentially the same metal w a different name. Right? I mean Ati is dead but Ruin is not. I would think that Ruin has not changed at all. Even with Sazed holding both shards he still feels a pull from each one individually
  21. @Leyrann I am really late replying to this but please reply! I love ur theory. it’s awesome. consider my mind blown. So many things would make sense this way and I don’t think it has necessarily been proven wrong. Here’s why Chaos (paraphrased) How many Shards have existed on Roshar? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Three. Speaking of wiggle room. The question is not phrased “existed in the rosharan system?” I know that this is probably about to get bombed with wobs but I was excited and want to further the thread. Secondarily @stonedshaman Is it possible (I mean I highly doubt it) but is it possible that somewhere along the blackthorn days, Dalinar got spiked in a battle? It has been ssidnthatvwe have seen someone on Roshar with hemalurgy. What about what’s his name? Felt I think. It’s pretty likely he’s a kandra right? Btw does anyone have any wobs about whether a shard can be forced onto someone? I’m thinking like as an attack strategy. I thought of that because Odium does not want that
  22. In my mind the “black hole” aspect of nightblood seems to be getting stronger too. If you look at him being used in warbreaker and then being used in oathbrinnger This might be useful to the conversation: Multi-site Skyward AMA (Oct. 4, 2018) #3Oct. 5, 2018 Skyler Cecil Is there an Investiture cycle on Roshar? Cycling through the crem rain and flora and fauna back into the storm, or something like that. Like the water cycle. If Investiture is finite, is it recycled back into the Cosmere when Investiture like breath or Stormlight is expended? Otherwise, wouldn't Investiture run out? Brandon Sanderson Yes, there is such a cycle. It is renewed and changed time and time again. It gets in and out of the Spiritual Realm, often with the birth of new individuals.
