  1. I'll never understand why people down vote for legitimate extrapolation. Off hand comments were all we got from Alloy of Law. Upvote corrected
  2. We see by light reflecting off an object into our eye ball. Storing light reflection works make you invisible.
  3. For the purpose of this question: no, many are not immediately available. (Copper and Steel are notable exceptions) Nor would cut gems retaining Stormlight, Alomantic metals, or Aon Rao Foci. These are not the things I was arguing in favor of, from the very beginning: I was attempting to communicate that keeping metal on you might be uncomfortable, or slightly inconvenient; but that there are many objects we carry that could conceivably be made into Metal-Minds. Perhaps that clears up some confusion?
  4. Certainly true I'm on the fence here. Kaladin repeats the first ideal on several occasions, but only when living it does he appear to gain the initial Surge-binding as Leonardus pointed out. I think that knowing the 40 parables, while not in itself providing any real benefit, can provide a KR acolyte with a map to acting in accordance with Honor. Living the Ideals grants power, so knowing them would enable one to live them.
  5. Feruchemy is perfectly available, you are correct ookla that obtaining pure metals might be difficult. If this were the Dark Ages. We live in the 21st century and obtaining anything is only a few clicks away. Metallurgy is advanced enough to produce the perfect percentage of Alomantic pewter, steel, brass, and bronze. Just we can't dig in our pocket and produce what we need immediately is no reason to be discouraged. What I was trying to imply was that the metal we carry can be made from feruchemical metals. A pure gold ring, can be encased in a steel enclosure, only a little has to actually touch your skin. For every difficulty that arises we have solutions. All we need is time, and that we have in abundance.
  6. Obtaining these materials isn't an issue is my point. My watch is steel, my wedding ring is gold, I've got a necklace that is made of black iron. I'm already walking around with quite a bit of metal. Finding specific items made of the metal really shouldn't be difficult, with the exception of some funny ones I.e. bendalloy duralumin and such.
  7. @Scott I presented similar ideas concerning Taln and Shinovar, but on review we found many mentions of leaves and branches. So it's not really supporting evidence.
  8. I thought about that. Keeping the metal on you might be a little heinous, but consider all the stuff you keep on you at all times anyway. Wallet, phone, keys, change, maybe a watch? There's alot of metal in all those items, and the majority of the metals used for the Arts are incredibly common; especially in today's modern world.
  9. But you said it yourself. The Storm is wet from down pours. This increases the amount of water in the area, but doesn't displace the water in the immediate vicinity. I would think flooding to be a much more likely scenario, but that evidently isn't the case.
  10. I have successfully indoctrinated my little brother into WoK using a careful regimen of spoilers. Mainly I began with the Dalinars final vision of the Almighty, and carefully placed blurbs concerning Kaladin and leadership, and Jasnah' s beliefs concerning atheistic morality. I have to say that the back cover of Mistborn was my main draw into BS work, and that ALL of us should use it as a bait n' hook methodology.
  11. I feel the need to disagree with you completely Aether. Tsunami drawback occurs due to massive displacement of water, forcing the water into a wave. However, Highstorms do not lift the seabed, which is the primary cause of tsunamis. I don't see how your contradiction is compatible with what has been observed.
  12. A Awakening Heightening has huge potential for pay off, based on the amount of Breath you buy. If I were a rich man, that's the way I'd go. If I were a poor man, and I have a wife so let's face it; I'm poor , I would choose Feruchemist. An ability dedicated to what I'm willing to sacrifice. PAAAlease, sacrifice is the name of the game. 2% of every attribute, every second? I'd never notice the difference. I'd have Metal-Minds filed to the brim. Zinc for when I'm arguing with the boss. Pewter for moving. Steel for bar fights. Copper fur nights at the bar I mean Feruchemy doesn't have 16 powers, it has 32! Filling and Tapping allows for multiple extrapolations of every attribute. Hey, some days I'm lazy, I Fill Iron at 50% and only Fill Steel at 20%. I'm on top, AND I get a net gain. Who could argue that ANY power beats the every day gain of this Art? Even if you wanted to play battle. I store zinc at a rate of 5% every minute, every hour if I want I can out think and outmove YOU for 3 minutes. Do you know how many ways I can break your neck in THREE MINUTES ?? I didn't think so. Feruchemy FTW!
  13. I was toying with the idea that they might be one in the same. Mute didn't seem quite right though. Idk, perhaps every Rosharan gives off minute waveforms that the Listeners can pick up. Here's lookin at you Isomere.
  14. Is there a serious cultural significance to the Parshendi gesture of cupping an ear and pointing? Or is this the real world equivalent of "the bird"?
  15. I will pray, to whoever is listening, for you.
  16. You were probably reading Isomere's topic concerning Wavelength is the Foci of Roshar. If my fu were strong, I'd be able to link you to it. He had many strong arguments, but without more info I can't say he's 100% correct. And I'm kinda terrified of what the Parshendi might be able to do in Storm-form. Perfect Stormlight retention *cough cough*
  17. I preordered the E-book on black Friday and for a deal. Honestly I don't think I could not have the book and be surfing 17th Shard without going nuts. "Dude can you believe Kaladin stuck Amaran to the ceiling??" Me: "What did I miss?? WHAT DID I MISS???!?"
  18. I JUST reread that passage last night, and was considering a topic on it. When attempting to communicate with gestures you try to simplify everything. One gesture, one word kind of thing. Hand to ear is obviously hearing, or listening. But the hand COVERING the ear implies the opposite. Pointing at someone is obviously "you". So we have: hear you. Or perhaps: no hear you. Being that their name is Listener, I think the gesture was the Parshendi equivalent of the middle finger.
  19. Interesting about Vega. New information for me. The movement of the Storm was something I . Was trying to comprehend. From. Kaladin's storm vision, the Highstorm seems to move erratically, but it appeared that he hit the Shattered Plains first. I don't think the Storms move from die East or Northeast, to West by Southwest for this reason.
  20. And another.. Pg. 972 Taravengian to Szeth "Sometimes I wonder if the Lifebrother himself sent you to me." Healing Surge?
  21. I think I found another name at the Battle of the Tower. Pg. 917 "By the Brightcaller's rays..." Perhaps this is the LightWeaver Almighty name? Kaladin used a Reverse Lashing and the crew described it as a fountain of light.
  22. Did he state that? I'll have to reread it. My impression was that Sigzil was hiding something, and since he admitted attempted murder it's probably pretty shady.
  23. My thought was that Sigzil tried to become the next Hoid, failed and was ashamed of it.
  24. Well to someone from Boston, another Bostonian doesn't have an accent either. So to another Alethi,Alethekar probably doesn't sound like it has an accent.
