  1. From experience with Steel, he tends to have good reads on people. I was hoping to draw him into the lynch discussion and give him a bit of incentive to participate. I definitely appreciate so much talk with decent reads on people. It is quite possible those pushing against that option are among Spirit's gang, and they're pushing against it because it would work in the way you propose.
  2. I'm not really determined to have a lynch today. However, a lynch will happen eventually, so why not now? In the end, I'd rather it be purposeful, and a good start for discussion to find Spirit's gang. It's part of why I voted on and tagged Steel. Most C1's I've witness haven't done much. Your discussion about listing factions did start some good talk about the mechanics of the game and possible options to finding our elims. It concerns me, however, because that route would also release a lot of information that would otherwise be (most likely) hidden from the eliminators. In my view, it would help Spirit more than any of the other gangs, hence why I am slightly suspicious of you.
  3. Time is running out in the cycle, so how about we get the real lynch discussion started? I'm finding Mailliw's push for listing everyone in each group to be a bit odd, but I also don't want to lynch him right to start on his first game back. Nothing else has really stuck out yet, so Steeldancer until I think of something better or someone else presents a better argument. @Steeldancer
  4. I also just realized independents are the only ones who can create a PM, so ignore my comment.
  5. I'm just going to throw out the idea that with the public plan of having independents out themselves, what's to stop Spirit's gang from claiming that?
  6. I can't say for sure in this game, but the standard for teams is to choose one person to send the request through PM on behalf of the team.
  7. Rena watched as the new Elantrian followed after Spirit. The poor man, struck by the Shaod like the rest of them. Destined to spend eternity in this slimy place, never to heal from any pains, and always to feel hunger. The hunger. Rena tried to ignore it, but her stomach hurt with such ferocity she thought it might drive her to becoming Hoed. It had been too long since she had any food. She almost wept - if she could have produced tears - at the thought of a feast with meats and fruits, and yes, even vegetables. Oh, how she missed the outside world. Maybe one day she'd see it again, and not simply through the short glimpses as the gate opened and closed on yet another poor victim of the Shaod.
  8. That could work a little like a lynch vote with the majority winning. One player could start, petitioning for an extension, then people can vote Yes or No.
  9. I would definitely play this style of game again. I personally think the 48-hour turns were just about right. Unless my schedule lines up just right, I wouldn't have enough time with 24-hour turns to really get a chance to dig through the clues (I hardly had that on the second round anyways because of overtime at work). However, there is a benefit to doing 24-hour turns if the plan is to do more than one round of the game at a time. If turns were shorter, we could feasibly fit 3 games into a week and a half or less. The balance during round 2 was just about right. I think the biggest difference was removing the world-specific clue that made it more challenging for the investigators. It might be possible to go back to 4 evidence/4 methods, and still have the balance work out in that case. Thank you Herowannabe for GMing/Oracle-ing this game. It was tons of fun! I'm sad I didn't get to participate quite as much during the second round, or finish up my RP. I kind of got stuck since my realmatic theory is a bit rusty, and I ran out of time to come up with something feasible. Just know Oyh and Veh made it back to Roshar just fine! In summary, I think it should be kept on the roster as a possibility for QF games. It throws a bit more of variety into the mix.
  10. I've been thinking about this recently, rereading Mistborn Era 1. My thoughts were somewhere along the lines that if Tin Savants have hyper-sensitive senses, and Pewter Savants have incredible healing, Atium Savants might be able to see further into the future or process those futures better than others. Say an Atium Savant went against someone simply burning Atium, the Savant would likely still have the advantage in processing the more likely futures. This, of course, doesn't take into account the fact atium is a god metal of ruin. However, I agree, they'd probably be crazy. Becoming an Atium Savant would require constant burning of the metal, constantly seeing the future of everything. That can't be healthy for one's sanity.
  11. I don't think it was ever really ruled out. There had been some talk about how choosing booby trap again would create a bit of an IKYK situation, but that was about it. Also, looking back on some of the clues, I'm revising the suggestion list: Kidpen, Patji's Finger + Lak or Saddle Strap Droughtbringer, Rioting or Punch + False Beard Madagascar, Dueling Cane or Aimian + Boots Rathmaskal, Hemalurgic Chimera + Artifact or Scorch MarksParanoid King, Awakened Rope + Spectacles Walin, Skull + Fire Bort, Booby Trap + Footprints Droughtbringer, Cut-away Vines + Map CadCom, Rifle + Footprints I crossed out punch and false beard as well, because if that had been the case, I think on D1 the clue for "Trace at Scene" would have been bruises rather than footprints. I also crossed out fire because a death by fire would probably result in more than just untidy clothing. I added my own suggestions at the bottom of the list.
  12. Here are the guesses so far: Bort, Firesnap Lizard + Footprint Itiah, Shades + Horseshoes Randuir, Kick + Firemoss Paranoid King, Whitespine + Spectacles CadCom, Dehydration + Hoofprints Joe in the Bush, Cliff + Medallion Randuir, Kick + Hairpin Keep in mind, some of these may be partially correct. If I had been a Co-conspirator or Assassin, I likely would have made a partially-correct guess to throw people off that trail. Also, upon re-reading the clues, I finally picked up on the "Untidy" part being a reference to the victim's clothing, not the suspect. As such, we also need to consider how their death may have cause their clothing to become untidy. The current suggestions: Kidpen, Patji's Finger + Lak or Saddle Strap Droughtbringer, Rioting or Punch + False Beard Madagascar, Dueling Cane or Aimian + Boots Rathmaskal, Hemalurgic Chimera + Artifact or Scorch Marks Paranoid King, Awakened Rope + Spectacles Walin, Skull + Fire I've crossed out the ones I think are less likely. Rioting, because I don't think accidental death by rioting would be likely in the wilderness. That sounds more like a city thing, where mobs are common. I'm also uncertain about Hemalurgic Chimera, though I suppose it would fit accidental and wilderness. I just mentally associate that more with Supernatural than Accidental. PS, sorry for the double post. It's been a few hours since my first, and as you can see by my reason for edit, this was published accidentally.
  13. Sorry I haven't contributed much this round. My work schedule has been a bit overwhelming this week. That being said, I hope to be able to break down some possible options just a few hours before the end of the cycle, if there are still any guesses left and people want suggestions. Depending on how work goes, I might be able to offer some sooner than that. Of the ones offered so far, I'm thinking rioting or punching may be some of the more plausible options.
  14. The assassin is likely to have an accomplice, like last round.
  15. Part of why I crossed rioting off the list is, to me, it would fall better under supernatural rather than accident. Also, I hesitate to go with cliff since that would be more of an 'all over' clue on body rather than just the head.
  16. We moved from Trace at the Scene: Footprint to Hint on Corpse: Head. Seeing as it's not "all-over," we can probably remove explosion (including ettmetal explosion). We may need to take another look at things like guns, which are most effective with headshots. I don't have a lot of time to do that currently, but I'll try to post something about it tomorrow.
  17. Some of the more plausible combinations I've seen so far include: Madagascar: Ettmetal Explosion, Boots (possibly fits accident, untidy since they lost their boots, and footprint because they were wearing boots which are likely to leave good imprints) Bort: Booby Trap, Footprint CadCom: Explosion, Hoofprints Devotary: Cut-away Vines/Highstorm, Wetleek Sap Trail (this is more of a stretch, but vines and highstorm seem to fit accident well) At this point, I think we may have a good amount to learn on D2 when some of the tiles shift. I agree with Meta, in the sense we may want to hold off on any more guesses this cycle. Also, would anyone be able to confirm if the mechanic discussed at the end of last game regarding the Assassin/Co-Conspirator being able to lay a false trail among the clues has been implemented? That could be throwing off our guesses.
  18. You're jumping into the deep end it seems! I don't know all the details (as I'm a player as well), but it's semi-blackout format. That means we know only some of the rules, but not all of the mechanics. You will probably be getting more details in your PM about your character, their abilities, and their win conditions that will answer more of your questions. GMs are also pretty good about answering questions/clarifying in the GM PM. Don't worry about making it fun for everyone else, just make sure it's fun for you. Contribute what you can, jump in with your theories, and roleplay when you want/can. People will generally do their best to help new players out, though keep in mind a healthy dose of suspicion will be good. Have you ever played Mafia before? If so, you can probably ignore what I say next. In the game, the general rule (though keep in mind, not always the case) is that there is an Eliminator faction and a Village faction. Generally (again, not all games are the same), the villager goal is to eliminate the elim team before the elim team eliminates them. What we know of this game, however, is only what's on Wilson's first post of this thread. We'll find out more as we get our PMs and start playing. The most important rule is to just have fun! Welcome to SE! Good luck!
  19. >.> That sounds like something a Co-Conspirator would say.... EDIT: But in all honesty, in hindsight, it almost feels like too much of a giveaway for one of the clues to be footprints when the evidence was a footprint.
  20. "You think Soulcasting has something to do with it?" Oyh asked of Veh as they waited for a sign from the Oracle that his guess of the murderer was right. He was currently trying to solve the more important puzzle he faced: getting back home. "Yes. Mmmmm. You can access the cognitive realm and travel," Veh buzzed. "But you need Stormlight. Mmmm. Lots of Stormlight." Oyh paced. Luckily, the subtle changes he'd made upon entering Investicon didn't take much Stormlight to keep in place. "Is there any other way? I don't know if we can get that much Stormlight here." "Find a worldhopper to take you, mmmm. Not a mmurderer." "Obviously." What about the murderer? Could he possibly have guessed correctly? Doubtful. He couldn't be that lucky twice. He looked around the Oracle's home, items scattered everywhere in a confusing mess. Somehow, among all of this, was the clue to finding the murderer. Hopefully, it wasn't one of the other obvious worldhoppers. There were a few around him that didn't appear to be from this place, nor from Roshar. One of them had to know how worldhopping worked. But could he trust them? Probably not yet. "Veh, go see if you can find any more Stormlight. I have a feeling that might be my only option." ---- EDIT: Oh no, I hit submit before talking about why I was really posting: analysis. I don't think we can cross off things like explosion from the suspect list. Like with the booby trap in the original murder, it was not actually an accident that it was done, just an "accident" (random) in who it killed. However, I will admit that something like an explosion is more likely to end up being severe injury than accidental. Itiah, I think you might have something going with the cult ritual. Keep in mind, however, with that same logic you very well could be the assassin with Dakhor Ritual and Horseshoes. I also hesitate to go with the rituals because they tend to be death by severe injury or blood loss more than accidental, and their targets are usually not quite as random as just hitting anyone with a booby trap. Usually in rituals, they sacrifice very specific kinds of people depending on which deity they're trying to please.
  21. I think at this point one of our better clues might be Footprint. So, I'm making an accusation. While I doubt my guess will be right, I mostly want to cross it off the list. I believe Bort is the assassin, with the method of murder being Firesnap Lizards and the piece of evidence being Footprint. @Herowannabe If this isn't correct, it could still be Footprints with a different method.
  22. The biggest thing that stands out to me as possibly fitting an unkempt appearance would be Singed Cloak, however, MetaTerminal doesn't have an associating means that would really fit the accidental part. I had considered Fenwood Poison, but then realized poison is its own category. Other things that might fit in with an unkempt appearance: False Beard Scorch Marks (if those are on the clothes and not left behind) Wig Hairpin (if it was left behind, the person's hair might be a mess) Things that fit other clues: Cutaway Vines (accidental/wilderness) Footprint Hoofprint Boots Booby Trap Explosion Chasmfiend Fire Patji's Finger Highstorm Cliff Whitespine Ettmetal Explosion Nightmaw Things I've crossed off the list: After compiling the list, I'm leaning toward CadCom being the Assassin, with explosion and Hoofprints. Though it would find it kind of funny if Bort was the assassin and chose booby trap again.
