  1. Padan Fain will not be able to self-protect. That adjustment will be made in the rules shortly. Any abilities/actions that do not require an action to trigger would be considered Passive in this case. Actions/abilities such as Last Stand, Power of Mashadar, Joy for Battle, Warder, and Hardy are among the possible passive actions that can be blocked by Padan Fain. EDIT: Doc access will not be included in the passive abilities.
  2. No problem! I associate people with their picture most often, so since I was changing that along with my name, I figured a title would be best so people know who I am still. I've been wanting to change my picture for a while now. This game helped inspire the change (since it reminded me of my first Pathfinder character, a rogue with a forgetfulness flaw).
  3. New members right now...
  4. This brings up a little bit of that discussion about the metagame between Fifth and Orlok the cycle after you died, which I think is useful to return to now the game is over. In my opinion, finding a new style of play is not inherently bad, so thus should not be discouraged. However, part of the game is attempting to read people. In general, a drastic shift in play style can be a big red flag for a possible new eliminator. It's unfortunate that we jumped on CadCom for trying to expand his style, but I think it was in part how he went about the change that sparked suspicion. A lot of people (myself included) saw it as a style that was anti-village. From that perspective, there are a lot of styles that can be anti-village, including consistent inactivity. This particular game could have been very different had there been better overall activity levels. (Don't get me wrong, I understand life can happen, and I sure didn't help with activity by letting myself die from forgetfulness. The game actually inspired me to change my pic to a d20 nat 1, since I feel that's what happened to me this game ) In that same vein, I understand lurking is a style, but unless that lurking also includes at least offering an opinion once in a while, it could easily be considered against the village goal. I've also seen a few games where players are able to hide as "inactives" while they really aren't totally inactive, just not active in the thread. Some have brought up Alvron's "Zunn the Mad" character. I think part of why that is accepted is because it's something we can go into the game expecting, knowing there won't be much alignment information there unless you can somehow crack his code. He's also usually consistent with posting and responses, and though they're incoherent, they can be entertaining. The biggest thing though, is to make sure we're all having fun. Zunn the Mad is entertaining, but if we all suddenly chose "mad" characters, games would be won by chance rather than strategy, which would take the fun out of the whole experience.
  5. It shouldn't be too much longer for the next MR sign ups to get posted (hopefully within the week). Sign-ups are usually up for about 2 weeks before the game starts.
  6. I'm glad you felt challenged by me at all. I felt I didn't contribute as much as I would have liked to before I died, since I found myself in a fairly busy situation. And yes, another Pewter game. I feel resigned to my fate of Pewter-related powers on Scadrial games. Hopefully if this burn pewter mechanic lives on in future games, I'll be less forgetful (but reminders would always be welcome)!
  7. That was a great game, thanks Wyrmhero. Thank you Orlok for trying to keep me alive with that message. It's really unfortunate I didn't see it until two minutes after the cycle ended. That's probably the biggest reason I would argue against a WGG with that kind of Thug mechanic. I'm incredibly forgetful! Despite being on and active pretty much that whole night turn, I still forgot my action Once again, though, I'm reminded I need to stick with my gut reads. I had one on Jondesu, but couldn't quantify it, so I let it pass. And congrats to Araris, the new Lord Heron. Good job to the elims. You almost had the game! I think if players had been a bit more active, it would have been a little easier for you to stay hidden and made some of your bussing a bit more effective.
  8. Perfect! He would do amazingly with the mushroom obsession.
  9. Callsign: Bad Wolf This was actually my callsign assigned by my old airsoft group since I'm a huge Doctor Who fan.
  10. I can kind of see that kid from the teenage Netflix rom-coms as Jorgen. Noah Centineo, I believe. Zendaya would be pretty awesome in the cast. Unfortunately, I don't know the other two.
  11. Yes! I agree with getting a NA version started. My summoner name is Elandera as well. I've been playing since around Season 1 and 2. I generally play ARAM and any special game modes, since I find Normal/Ranked modes to be a bit too salty for my taste. My favorite champions to play include Janna, Sona, Lux, and Nidalee. I generally prefer support/mage, though the occasional ADC isn't bad. I'm terrible at melee champs unless they're tank and all I need to do is take a beating.
  12. I believe so, since a Tineye hasn't died yet.
  13. Well, that pretty much negates my entire post last cycle. @Orlok Tsubodai, you're now pretty solidly village in my book. While bussing is always a possibility, MetaTerminal's vote on you last day cycle to save himself makes that highly unlikely. Speaking of which, there were other people who had votes at that time, so why specifically did he choose Orlok? That was the vote count posted by Rathmaskal just prior to the last-minute voting. My vote on Orlok was the last one posted before MetaTerminal voted on Rath, so it's possible he just chose to side with the last vote he remembered. I believe this also slightly clears Rath, because MetaTerminal's vote was placed on him out of self-preservation as well, and was only removed as an incentive for Rath to remove their own vote. That could have been an elim plan, but the awkwardness of it doesn't feel contrived. I believe it's possible there is an elim among the other people with only one vote: Elandera, Jondesu, Ark, and Xino. The last two I find most suspect. We haven't seen much from Xino to be able to analyse, and I'm still not sure what to think of Ark. I'm getting a good village feel on Jondesu after yesterday's review, and obviously I'm not suspicious of myself.
  14. Oh, no. That's not what I meant at all. What you do is still in line with making SE fun to play. It was bad phrasing on my part, due to having started to develop a really bad headache after spending several hours going through old posts. Actually, looking back on a lot of the post, it was poorly phrased in general. For that, I apologise sincerely. Let me try to get it right this time. The first part I quoted is, in hindsight, a reasonable strategy for even village. You, after all, we're the one who caught me on D1 of being elim during MR30, I believe. It was because of a mistake I made, and you were fully justified in taking advantage of it. Our whole goal is to find those mistakes that could help us identify an elim. However, I also think that is a good elim strategy for someone as skilled as yourself. As I'll explain below, despite warnings about your ability to hide as an elim, people have a strange tendency to trust you and your opinion. While most elims take a back seat with lynches, I have a feeling you wouldn't play that way. I believe you'd be an elim who would keep your same bold style, and because of your experience, find justifiable mistakes to use to lynch people. I've never played a game with you as elim before, so it's just a guess. What I meant by driving force did include the Itiah lynch, not because you pushed it in the same way as the CadCom lynch. It was because other players, mostly new players from what I noticed, are seeming to just follow your lead. That is a great thing, if you're village. I guess most of my suspicion comes from not you, but how others are responding to you. How MetaTerminal flips will play a big part in if I hold you as a possible elim or not. Because of that, I don't want vote manipulation to cause problems. I'll wait until he flips before I push further. Orlok/Jondesu MetaTerminal/Jondesu Again, I am very sorry for my poor phrasing. I hope this explains my thinking a little better. Even when I did get lynched D1 as elim because of you, I still had a blast. Please don't take what I said as indication of a harmful play style.
  15. Blue is removal of a Praise vote. Purple is the praise. If you're ever confused, just check out the rules page from sign ups.
  16. That makes sense. Content-wise, there wasn't anything that really stuck out to me as possible elim. It seems to be a busy time for a lot of people (myself included, since I should be writing for NaNoWriMo instead of being on here )
  17. Alright, I just went through all past posts, focusing on those who are still alive. I only briefly skimmed posts from people who are already dead. Since they're all villagers, there's only so much we can glean from them. First things first, we haven't heard from @Aonar Faileas, @Coop772, or @A Joe in the Bush since D1. We also haven't heard from @Young Bard since D2. See chart in the spoiler tag for a ridiculously long summary of posts of living people so far. Now for what I think of all of that. Jondesu/Rathmaskal After reviewing everything, I have no idea where my gut read on Jondesu came from. There's nothing I found that pinged my elim-meter. Most of their post seem village to me. The end of the last Day Turn between Rath and Meta seemed like honest self-preservation moves. That's something I've seen in both elims and villagers, so I'm not certain I'm fine with a vote on them simply for that. That being said, some of Meta's other actions are a bit odd, though they could easily be due to inexperience. I'm also a bit suspicious of Araris. In past games with him when he's a villager, he tended to be more aggressive about voting. However, I can understand why that may have changed, since that also led to his early lynch. A lot. I'm still pretty confident in Young Bard being village, as well as Furamirionind. My largest suspicion is actually on Orlok at the moment. He has been a main driving force behind most of our mis-lynches. I feel like he's watching for and jumping on every single possible mistake by players as a reason to lynch them. A lot of the players are following, because it just makes sense to follow someone with a lot of experience. Some of the other posts feel like subtle attempts to divert attention in other directions. Orlok/Jondesu
  18. I see this as a big problem with the American school system in general (and perhaps other countries, but I don't have experience there). I once had a Civics teacher who was notorious for no one getting better than maybe a B in their class. The reason was because if you wrote an assignment that didn't reflect his own view point, or if it wasn't written how he'd have written it, you didn't get a good grade. It could have been a paraphrase of the book, and it still would have been wrong. The only reason I got an A is because I was great at BSing in my writing. I listened just enough to know what he'd want to hear and write to that. That's the same kind of uniform thinking a lot of different teachers in different topics push students toward. Luckily, Fahrenheit 451 isn't one of the books in my required reading, so I never gained that same disdain as I did for some other books. I read it about a year ago and actually enjoyed it. Oh! That reminds me of another problem I have with assigned reading (which goes pretty well with what TwiLyghtSansSparkles said). When we read classics as assigned reading, we're often pushed toward analyzing it the same way. We're told this means that, and that means this, and there's no other interpretation. However, most of the authors didn't have one particular focus or meaning behind their books, and each person should be able to interpret it in a way that makes sense for them. Allowing that will allow youth to learn critical thinking techniques that help them actually apply what they learn and read to their lives in a realistic way, instead of shoving them into a box of groupthink.
  19. There were a lot of books I despised in high school because they were required reading (1984, The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, Hemingway in general, several others I can't even remember). I only read bits of them and used sparknotes for the other the important parts. Since graduating I've read several books in the same vein and rather enjoyed them. Granted, I haven't gone back to read the ones I listed because I still can't quite get over my high school grudge against them. I think required reading is a terrible idea, since it generally doesn't actually help students. They should come up with a better system to introduce the ideas presented in the books, but let the students read the books of their own choice.
  20. It's just a gut read for now. I'll have time tomorrow morning to do a full analysis. If I don't find something more substantial, I'll remove my vote.
  21. It's because they reminded me to burn pewter. If it wasn't for that, I'd be dead since I didn't read Wyrm's announcement closely enough to see the night turn ended at the same time. I thought it had been extended.
  22. There's nothing immediately apparent regarding the choice to kill Fifth, though (like Orlok) I'm fairly certain it was not the coinshot. Fifth had recently come to be considered fairly trusted among the village, and I can't think of a reason for a village coinshot to kill him. I should have more time tomorrow to do a better analysis. While I'm slightly suspicious of MetaTerminal, I'm also not a fan of such a quick bandwagon at the beginning of the cycle as it tends to kill discussion. Based on gut-reads alone, I've got a bit of suspicion currently on Jondesu. Jondesu/Rathmaskal
  23. I just finished listening to this last night (I apologize if I spell anything wrong, as I don't get to see the words through an audiobook). Skyward was fantastic! Spensa's character development felt real and plausible. I loved Doomslug, but I wish we knew a bit more about her. I'm hoping more to be revealed about what exactly Doomslug is in later books. I haven't read Defending Elysium, but after seeing so many posts about the link between Skyward and DE, it's now top of my list to read. I didn't seem too unusual to me. They established through the book that numbers are what mattered in defending against the Krell. The intention of getting the cadets into the air was not to get them into fighting, but to show presence, something that might chase away the Krell and avoid an extended fight. The Skyward flight was never supposed to start fighting. There is also an element of desperation on the human's side. They're running out of pilots quickly, and without the numbers they'll be overwhelmed by Krell. Sending anyone up - even brand new cadets - was better than potentially letting a life-buster through. Also, there's always a chance for unrealistic things in a plot, but which are necessary. In this case, I found it excusable to do something so tactically unsound because there were some reasons established why it might be plausible in the world, and because by the end it showed the real consequence of mistakes in battle. It was the first step, really, in Spensa's, Jorgen's, and the rest of the crew's character developments.
  24. Well, if they're going to kill people anyways... Might as well not be ones contributing to discussion
