IMO, the other side of the planet is a bit easier to get to than a totally different universe. The other problem that I see is the fact that there may not be exactly what we want over there... I mean, what if we want cities or fortresses. The ecosystem also isn't super variable. I don't know if I'm making any sense here, but I think that in terms of variability and separation, alternate universes would be a good idea.

Is there a WoB for that? -

Interludes. When I reread OB, I skip most of the interludes (execpt for the important ones) While I am bothered by some of the veiwpoints, I understand their necessity. I look forward to each in its own way. Kaladin: Kaladin and Syl funny moments (bridge four as an added bonus) Shallan: Witty remarks gang (Pattern is pretty funny too) Dalinar: Reflective and refreshing from the others internal struggles. And Adolin's veiwpoint is always refreshing because A. he's gonna fight, or B. he'll do something cool and/or funny. I guess whatI'm trying to say is that I'm not really bothered too much. -
I like this idea... I have a bunch of weird sci-fi/fantasy planets/ideas stored up. I really enjoy the idea of having diffrent levels of technological advancements. You could also have diffrent magic in the sci-fi universes, with some having none at all. So you could have a hard sci-fi megacorp universe, or a space opera, depending on what people want. I feel like we could do something like the zone things in the OASIS, where you have areas where magic works, or advanced technolagy works, or they both work. The only thing I worry about are new players joining. I feel like it would be really complex and hard to understand.

If we can add in Sci-Fi with the alternate universes, then I am totally in. Although I really want to know how inter-universal travel would work.

Ciera swore profusely and opened a gateway underneath her feet. She continued swearing as she fell through.

character development Devaan's Training ground
old man moomba replied to Nohadon's topic in The Alleyverse
Several nearby mimes passed out from fear. Oh no one signed Our doom draws near The mimes who were still conscious grabbed their sleeping comrades and loaded them into an invisible bus, speeding away after. -
Ciera pointed at Benson and shrugged. "Hey look. It's that guy."

Radyn grunted and shoved the knife back into its sheath.

I had an idea. What if, between the Alleyplanet and some of the oter planets, there is a barrier. It would be similar to Ark's Investiture void idea, with a few modifications. It would prevent most sources of Investiture from passing through, and prevent Investiture based teleportation. Basically you can't use lazy person cards Tia cards to get past it. And I think it would add some fun RP opportunities.

"Hum. If I like the way it turns out, yes." Dwig said before turning to look at Johnny. "Me? The boss? No. I couldn't possibly have this great vista for no reason." he gestured out the window. "Anyway. Let's go for a walk." he stood and waved to the two of them to follow.

Or on other planets.

Dwig looked up from the gun he was assembling on his desk and smiled. "Well, well. It would appear I've underestimated you, kid. Great job in getting here, by the way. I usually have go looking for new people when I invite them somewhere."

"So.. about the name?" Dwig asked, taking a sip of the whiskey and smiling.

Later Dwig continueed to scribble in his notebook, drawing something in incredible detail. He surveyed it, nodded to himself, and committed the image to memory. He quickly shoved the memory into his copperminds to ruduce degradation. The memory was just a backup, in case his notebook was lost or stolen. It always payed to be careful. @The Technovore

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
old man moomba replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
"Kid. I think you took a wrong turn." the man paused to wave a mime in "You ended up in the SC Foundation headquarters. Go back down the alley and head for the thread called Trident Tower." The mime repaired the fourth wall and left, signing to itself about overtime. The man stepped out of the way motioning for the kid to go past. -
Dwig came in, his characteristic good natured smirk on his face. He folded up his sunglasses and walked over to the bar. He had changed out of his nice clothing and now wore his duster and gunbelts. "'Ello, again, barkeep." he said in a Roughs accent "I never did catch your name. I'll take whiskey, same vintage as last time."

IMO, we could create a few other planets with large cities on them and not cram everything on to one planet. Or, you know, toss a couple other universes in there as well. But that seems like it would be more complicated, not less. Especially if you add other magic systems. Expanding on the "other cities" idea, We really should put more Alleyverse locations on the other planets. In the Westlands alone, there are 5 or 6 large cities with tons of intresting RP opportunities.

The man who had forgotten his name opened the door, already talking "Boss Can I get some more files on the current stat..." then he ran into Johnny "Oh. What are you doing here. Please tell me you're not the new section chief." -
Radyn shrugged and put the knife back into his boot. He pulled a more modern looking combat knife out of a sheath on his belt and inspected it.
