  1. Hello! Welcome to the Shard! Have you read Brandon's MTG short story?
  2. A spren that is far enough in the Physical Realm will likely be able to be affected by any Shardblade, but most spren don't pull themselves far enough to be able to do so due to the intelligence hit they have to take. You could probably smack a windspren with a Blade if you wanted. As to what happens, probably the same thing that happens to anything else that gets knocked off by a Shardblade, only they're pretty much all soul if they're that far over, so their Investiture probably gets recycled/sent back to the source where the spren come from.
  3. Depends on the type of spren, probably. Windspren would probably get eaten because they're almost entirely on the Physical side of things, but considering what Nightblood does to things that are only partially Investiture and not entirely made up of it, he'd probably just eat every type of spren. What ramifications that would have on the bond, not sure, but worst case scenario is that they both die because of intertwined Investiture. Best case is the spren is gone forever and with it, the bond.
  4. That gets thrown back up right at the beginning of Oathbringer, though, so it's not in much danger of being forgotten.
  5. That's Taravangian, he's keeping a bunch of people sedated and killing them slowly to get access to prophetic Death Rattles. (You'll see a lot of him in Oathbringer) The Alethi are currently keeping the Herald Taln in a monastery because they think he's crazy (in they're defense, he only knows how to repeat the same speech over and over after four thousand years of torture). That's the Nightwatcher. You go to visit her and ask for a boon, then she assigns you a bane. It's her way of learning about human-kind. A lot of detail on that in Oathbringer. Let's see, other plot threads... There's a group of rogue parshmen roaming around the Shattered Plains somewhere after they ran away from Narak before the whole "make all the parshmen use Stormform to summon the Everstorm" thing that pretty much capped off Words of Radiance. Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin are love-triangulating after the whole chasm incident in Words of Radiance. The queen of Alethkar executed an ardent in one of the previous interludes and now things are all wonky in Alethkar (very little communication happening between them and the Shattered Plains anymore, you'll get details on that in Oathbringer) Elhokar is maturing as a king some, after the attempted assassination that left Kaladin understanding his limits with the bond and on his Third Oath. As of the opening of Oathbringer, Kaladin is not with everyone else (not going into details, just that he's doing something he's wanted to do for a long time). At the end of Words of Radiance, the group of Alethi went though the Oathgate to Urithuru and Oathbringer picks up not too much longer after that, so everyone is disjointed. That's most of the major ones that would slip through the cracks that I can think of off the top of my head, and there's a small word of advice I'm going to give: DO NOT READ ANYTHING ON THIS FORUM UNTIL YOU'VE AT LEAST GOTTEN THROUGH OATHBRINGER, THE SPOILER PERIOD IS OVER AND THERE IS NO WARNING IN MOST CASES Also reading Edgedancer will get you a bit of a refresher in and of itself, so doing that is a good idea. Good luck, and welcome to the Shard!
  6. If any magic system was going to follow a half-life decaying system, it'd be Hemalurgy.
  7. Worth it solely for the meme, honestly.
  8. So does that make Ba-Ado-Mishram the most intelligent of the Unmade?
  9. I love the way you decided to include the luckspren/mini-mandras! Also the design of that chasmfiend is amazing!
  10. That's fair, a being made entirely of Investiture would be a little afraid of a sword that eats Investiture as it's primary function if it had any sense.
  11. I doubt Rock is a full Radiant (yet) because we've had some short things from him, and there would be something there hinting at it. I do think Rock will end up a Radiant at some point (though I cannot guarantee he will be a Windrunner), and the reason the family has experience with Surgebinders is a combination of Rock's letters and the scouts that found them were Windrunner squires right at the edge of their abilities with regards to range from Kaladin.
  12. Amaram also talks about him like they're speaking together, so intelligence is likely, I'd just forgotten about that bit until just now. I do think Amaram was beginning to lose control by the end because that's what Kaladin was trying to do, it's why he was verbally sparring with Amaram as much as physically sparring, but he was in control enough to still experience legitimate emotions for a good period of time. At the end, though, he was probably driven mad by pain and anger, just in time to get killed. Aesudan might have lost control because Yelig-nar was struggling within her, actively trying to overwhelm her, unlike Amaram, leading the way for Odium to move in with his forces directly once she was gone.
  13. The crystal growing is just what Yelig-nar does. I personally think it's because he's channeling so much Investiture at once though a body that wasn't meant to hold that much (all 10 Surges is a lot of Investiture), but the likely scenario is that once you lose control of Yelig-nar, you're pretty much gone anyway. With how much of Amaram's body was crystals by the time all was said and done, he was nearly completely settled into his bond, more than likely.
  14. No, they were fully bonded. Aesudan couldn't control it, her soul got eaten soon after the whole Kholinar thing, but Amaram was able to control him. The only reason he seemed to be manifesting new powers was he was new to the bond, much like Kaladin instinctually doing things with Stormlight early on in the bond with Syl. The Heralds are an interesting idea, I'll admit. It would be kind of fun to see Ishar/Tezim full on join the other side, rather than just the lashing out at everything that he's doing now. I still like the idea of Ialai I suggested early on in the thread because I'm tired of her doing what she's doing now (she feels like she's go so much more potential), and seeing as Odium used Torol Sadeas's murder to convince Amaram and his troops to feel justified in fighting, it would vaguely make sense to do the same for Ialai.
  15. From the Coppermind entry on Yelig-nar: So unless there's a WOB I'm unaware of (very possible) his intelligence is not concretely known.
  16. On one hand, that would be cool, but on the other, I don't think highspren would be the kind of spren to bond someone who had a bond with another order's spren, especially if they killed that other spren.
  17. Like Quantus said, Tonk Fah and Ruin would be a horrendous combination. Vin and Odium wouldn't make a good combination either. Vin and Ambition would be a little wonky as well. Clubs and Ruin would have issues, since with Clubs's whole artistry thing, he would probably be a very creative force of Ruining things, which sounds bad for the rest of the cosmere. Elend and Dominion or Elend and Ambition.
  18. I'm still a subscriber to the theory that the reason Szeth was kicked out from Shinovar in the first place was because he had begun bonding with that same highspren, but upon becoming Truthless, he was going against the Oaths he had made and he killed it (similar to Shallan) before the whole Nale thing happened.
  19. What do y'all think the odds are of having, in Era 3 and beyond, Allomancers push on turbines as to get energy fields going and generate power? Another interesting possibility is something involving highly-pressurized liquid metal that people push on to do stuff, like move stuff or what-have-you. That's possible, apparently, the Pushing and Pulling of liquid metal, albeit a little strange. What other uses would probably become commonplace in Era 3 for the various forms of Allomancy?
  20. He's not in a sphere permanently, it's just he needs a gemstone in someone's body to be bale to bond them. The specific stone (as far as we know) doesn't matter, they just need one.
  21. Probably because TLR was a little bit insane by that point and honestly was caught off guard, plus was unaccustomed to actual struggling (much less from a traitorous Inquisitor) for the last nearly thousand years.
  22. I'm down for it, then.
  23. Quick question: How involved is this RP? It intrigues me, but I'm not sure if I'll have time.
  24. Oh that would be amazing and terrifying. That would be really cool.
  25. There's a lot of Mistborn up there.
