  1. No, Devotion is paired wiht Dominion, there is a difference. Because Devotion isn't a perfect opposite to Odium, they didn't attract. Either that or Devotion realized he/she would get destroyed in a blink if they went up against Odium.
  2. The Shin seem to believe that stone becomes the final resting place for the souls of the dead. The Parshmen lay their dead on a slab of stone. Kaladin swears he sees a face in his rock. Could be nothing, particularly the Kaladin connection, which is a bit of a stretch, but it be somethin'.
  3. I always took the story of the Wandersail to be a symbolic tale of what happens to Roshar once it realizes God, the ultimate excuse for everything, is dead. We'd have a lot of those riots and deaths. But that's off topic. We seriously need somebody to get to the origin and figure out what's in there. My money's on a shardpool, possibly a mixture of all three. Shinovar is crazy wierd, what with chickens, cows, and soil. Could Shiovar be Uritiru? It's "close to Honor". By the way, doesn't it strike you all as odd that the text fragment refers not to the Almighty, not to God, but to Honor? I missed it on all three readthroughs because I know the term and I'm familiar with it. But why would anybody on Roshar know or use that term?
  4. From what I gathered from Kaladin POVs, they may be lighter than normal wood, but they're still heavy, massive, and particularly evil varieties of lightweight wood.
  5. What if Spren are splinters of Cultivation, and only a few of them are Honor-related, perhaps as a mixture meant to "Cultivate" honor? From Dalinar's visions I've gathered that Honorspren aren't the only kinds that can bond, and I do like the idea of Parshendi having small bits of honor.
  6. It almost makes me wonder if Sazed recorded Vin's little trick with the arrowheads...
  7. Thank you for that. I find myself with an increasingly difficult time getting my ideas across >_>
  8. A little matter turns into a LOT of energy, so imagine those planetary pieces turned into energy. Also, on the subject of Adonalsium, we've seen that Shards have a moderate physical, tiny cognitive, and massive spiritual aspect. We can assume the physical simply comes from the body of whoever holds the shard, but the conginitve is present on its own. So would all 16 cognitives put together from Adonalsium's mind? That would remove Adonalsium's need to be a human, and it would also mean that those idividual pieces could be messing with the current holders minds beyond simple intents. Alternatively, Adonalsium had a physical "element" (Reference, the Letter) but lost it upon shattering. To reform it would probably need a physical aspect unlike anything ever seen before, possibly made of something totally foreign to the world, making it virtually impossible to reform. Probably for a reason.
  9. Zinc creates artificial future sight. It simply can't compare with the real thing IMO.
  10. I use magic bullets, obviously. Everything related to my sanity or the state thereof is automatically and unquestionally magical. Hence, the creeper face attached to my mouse pointe rinvalidated your argument. And, for on topic's sake, Atium is an exception.
  11. I always liked rusty steel. If I'm gonna hit them, they may as well get tetanus while I'm at it!
  12. *Stores weight in ironmind* You were saying? And I'm fairly sure once you spike somebody you can't do it again. You've already taken off the hemalurgic piece. Two spikes into a kandra seem to create a mix between the personalities and memories of the spikes and the mistwraith, but we don't know enough on that to say much...
  13. Plated bullet would probbaly get aluminum blown off it, rendering the rets of the plating useless.
  14. Point. Gun, point. So, we're assuming plating works. So, what's the area of effect for aluminum? How far does the cushion of protection extend?
  15. I'm not sure they'd ever wake up after that, or be the same person afterwards, if a "person" at all. But yes, there are other ways. The laws around ripping out souls will be interesting...
  16. I'm sure a thickish plating would work fine, if you did it right. I'm too lazy to work out and/or look up the physics of it. Maybe use aluminum paint or something.
  17. You're still ripping out a soul. They'll probably be moolies by the time you're finished with them.
  18. Wooooow. Adonalsium was like a mirror. Hoid examined his backside in it, and it shattered. Brandon's magic systems embody the American populace's loves. Eating, Breathing, Doodling, and coming soon: Forgery. Amusing, wouldn't you say? What's the difference between Hoid and a Viola? People will stop and listen to Hoid What do Kvothe and a Spanreed have in common? They're both sympathetic Nobody understands Truthspren. Far too symbolic. Ya, my jokes are terrible :/
  19. I'm fairly sure it all has to be made of it, which calls up questions about why a tin foil hat works. Maybe the body is already invested enough that it only needs a tiny bit of plating to work?
  20. I think losing your soul is lethal anyways. As for Feruchemy, I'm all too happy to be sick on occasion. helps me sneak out of my stuff. Slowmindedness won't be bad, I think too slowly to care. Just fill that one for an hour in bed and I'll be fine. Speed (and strength) is the same, it's not like I'm moving, and I won't need it regularly. it's just all too convenient.
  21. I mean that whatever causes the Shaod (Probably Devotion splinters) follows the laws and rules of Aons, and as such can be replicated in effect by an Aon. The Aon recipe for amazing power is Rao, Spirit. Shards are mostly part of the spiritual realm, so it's probably connected.
  22. Don't forget Zinc and Duralumin. Duralumin to connect enough to see what they're feeling, and zinc to act upon it. It's as good as close to mind control as you get.
  23. This. If there will ever be a cosmere story, it'll be this one.
  24. It doesn't change the fact that you have to kill for Hemalurgy, and I doubt many people here would be willing to end lives simply to gain power. Not to mention the difficulty of having any form of a life with the authorities hunting you down.
