Yes but if you have few and small gemstones it would not matter how many highstorms came and went kaladin and shallan were carrying the bigger gems I think because they were trying to operate the oathgate

That’s possible I also thought that the very fact that they said those words like that to kaladin and showed him Gavinor suggested that they have indeed sworn the words

Moral Miscalculations of Mr. Sanderson in Oathbringer
Aon Tia replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
@Pathfinder yup that makes sense. You have to feel remorse explains both szeth and dalinar hearing the screams. You have to be close to them does not seem to apply on szeth though i am not saying sadeas could not feel the thrill, I think everyone does but the extent to which effects someone varies, so sadeas is not that much ruled by the thrill like dalinar is -
I will protect those I love even if to do that I have to kill someone

May be they have sworn and have become radiants, but they simply did not have enough gemstones to carry that much stormlight that would enable them to fly all the way back to urithiru. May be they are just not trained enough, they did not feel that they could carry ten or more people during the highstorms. It is not easy and during the trip to kholinar, kaladin was doing much of the lashing others to enable them to fly. Their job was to simply fly below and lash someone in case anyone accidently fell.

we know that the time it counts, there is a sudden surge of stormlight and a glyph is formed saying windrunners.. so the time they said it to kaladin that was not the moment. but that is my trouble here, if doing all of this and protecting gavinor was not enough to count as ideal sworn, then when? may be it will be shown in SA 4, that they have become 2nd level radiants.

i like this idea, so if like i suggested, voidtruespren if form bonds with humans and grant them surges, then would they grant shards too. the only thing is that shard would be a dawnshard? after all that would explain why dawnshards were there in Ashyn and why they are lost t humans now...
-
Agree about sjanat and also agree that she learnt to corrupt sapient spren recently. But ulim and yixli are not corrupted spren they I believe are voidspren version of truespren I think. They I think if bonded by someone, should give them voidbinding. The lesser voidspren are like stormspren that are captured by singers into their gemhearts to attain forms of power when they capture normal spren which are of honor or cultivation then I believe they get normal forms like work form, warform, etc. also I think that if spren like ulim, voidtruespren form bonds with humans or may be even singers ( seems unlikely because if it could be done, then it would have been done, but who knows once Venli’s secret will come out then may be odium will try it with his spren too) it will make them voidbinders. But I think it has to be through some other means, not oaths. Because odium is all about emotions and mindset right? Also the problem I see here is that emotions are ever changing and mind sets can change. So May be such bonds are not very stable.

Even if he does, I don’t think we will see it until kaladin does! He has to be the first one to do it on-screen/ on page. He is our oathsperson. @Invocation Hmm why not lightweaver? He might have a few juicy truths to share!! He is very logical minded too so elsecaller while we are at it. And I really think Rock has a good chance to be next because he has a novella coming and peaks should be important in SA 4 and he surely will be at the centre of it. He might need to protect his people!

Voidspren are odium ‘s spren specifically. They are not merely normal spren that have been corrupted. We know that after desolations are over, fused as well as voidspren are trapped in braize. Ulim was the first voidspren who escaped somehow it is mentioned in the text. I don’t think that unmades however are trapped.. I think they remain. That further suggests that they originally were not of odium

So how many people from bridge 4 have already become radiant we have kaladin, teft and lopen But do you think that skar and drehy have also sworn their 2nd oath and thus are at the same level as lopen? Also whose next? Any ideas?

I think that kholins are the only exception here. Apart from them, I don’t see any nobility gaining radianthood. I don’t think there is any at all. None of the other houses of alethkar are becoming radiant. Dalinar becomes radiant makes sense because if stormfather wants someone to unite all humanity against voidbringers then it is logical that it would have to be someone in a position capable of achieving it. Besides we already know that one beggar I think was also watching the visions, but no one is going to pay attention to the rambling’s of a beggar so it makes sense that visions were given to many but only dalinar could do something about them and managed to become radiant. Also I think nightwatcher/ cultivation’s influence makes it easy for nahel bond to be formed somehow. Jasnah became an elsecaller because inkspren were probably logically oriented as they are, were looking for a scholar with their kind of values. And the fact that she is a kholin and a noble is a coincidence. One reason it had to be noble light eyes is I think that the level of scholarship she has and they probably wanted, requires that kind of opportunities that only a noblewomen could have. Renarin again I think should not be counted for he is what he himself does not know. In fact the poor boy cannot catch a break !! And who knows may be Sjanat planned it to be him because she wanted her son to be bonded with someone close to the centre of Alethi power so that she can have their ear when she desires. Also kholins is not the only radiant heavy family we have kaladins family- kaladin, tien and I have a feeling that oroden in SA arc 2 might be radiant and davars - shallan, Helaran, who knows may be her mother was a noviatiate too and killing her was going to be her test who knows and not to mention all the other influence that they have? also I don’t think shallan should be counted in kholins become radiants because that was literally planned by jasnah and I think that happened because I think people who share surges are drawn to one another that is shallan was drawn to jasnah and kaladin was drawn to dalinar But we cannot forget all the other people who are becoming radiant we have the entirety of bridge 4 who were all slaves! Kaladin tien eshonai Lift szeth stump the orphanage lady we had that cobbler malata shallan was a poor light eyes women until she married into royalty Venli all the sky breakers who are not of nobility shallan’s squires and I am sure many more Are going to come who are not nobility also it is logical that if a shardblade is revived the one who does that is going to be noble only because you are a shardbearer to begin with. Also adolin again is going to be able to do it because he is a kholin who have shards in the first place and he happened to enter shadesmaar that allowed him to bond with maya Ona level no other shardbearer has. But I also think that he may not prove to be your average knights radiant, he like his brother may become something new something different. How I don’t know but I believe that there will be some difference there.

Moral Miscalculations of Mr. Sanderson in Oathbringer
Aon Tia replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
That is why I was of the opinion that spiritual aspects lingering may be one reason but the fact that only dalinar or szeth hears them has something to do with the fact that they both acted under the influence of thrill while killing them. I don’t think that sadeas was really that much affected by thrill in rathalas, he is not very passionate he is more cold and calculated actions type of guy and so is taravangian, I guess. May be that’s why he can not hear any screams of so many deaths he has caused in Vedenar etc -

@Calderis I totally agree in fact I made the same argument in an earlier post that I believe that evi’s Voice was basically dalinar’s sub-conscious telling him that he has earned forgiveness. For the first time in a long time when he actually remembered all the events, he has felt that he has earned forgiveness So I like that dalinar asked for forgiveness of cultivation and nightwatcher and for the longest time I thought that he got a different boon and bane but that of forgetting and then slowly remembering but actually in the end he did get what he asked for. He got the forgiveness he asked for. I think it was very important that he should feel himself that he has grown enough that he can earn forgiveness. That if evi were there she would have forgiven me. Also it is interesting that it appears that nightwatcher/cultivation probably give the person the capacity to gain their boon and dalinar totally got it. -
Azure hmm I don’t know. Vasher is no longer an option?

Moral Miscalculations of Mr. Sanderson in Oathbringer
Aon Tia replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
@Pathfinder You are welcome ok got it, so it is more due to spiritual aspects lingering in that realm, but is it possible that when people die in violent death in great numbers like at rathalas, or by szeth in vedinar or like at manywar? May be such events leave more of an echo and haunt their perpetrators much more -
Lyn and skar?

Moral Miscalculations of Mr. Sanderson in Oathbringer
Aon Tia replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
I think he is not talking about cognitive shadow here. He is talking about the fading of spiritual aspect in the spiritual realm which takes time. That is true also because dalinar keeps hearing their screams i also thought that the reason dalinar hears the screams is because of the thrill. Note that Szeth also hears the screams when he nears the red mist and then he gives the sphere to lift and says nope I can’t go in there. So I think it is thrill which is causing them to hear those screams. I think specifically when they have killed under the influence of thrill then it happens -
I so agree. I was like what!!? These people have read it already? I checked the released date again

I actually think that adolin and shallan are good, their romance makes sense and it is done well enough. I liked their first meeting and their later ones. At first he felt that she is refreshing and then she ropes him in on her plans and he shares his plans and difficulties regarding furling with her. I see that as a good base for a relationship. She obviously adores him for she defends adolin to kaladin and berates him for making fun of adolin and shows him that adolin is totally likeable and u are the human version of dark clouds the moment kal and shallan fell into the chasm together, I was like no Sanderson don’t go there! Adolin and shallan have a good thing going and don’t mess it up and I am glad really glad he did not. Even worse would have been if it would have messed up kaladin and adolin ‘s budding friendship i think it was written well and there was no unnecessary anguish here which is how things play out many times in real life
