Guess That Cosmere Character! Forum Edition!

Sorry for the delay, No to all of those guesses. 1. This character engages in the production of art. (Assume that I am using the broadest, most inclusive definition of art possible) 2. This character has lost somebody they loved. -

I forgot that getting it correct meant I had to do a character... Um... This character engages in the production of art. (Assume that I am using the broadest, most inclusive definition of art possible) -

Lightweavers...? Alternatively: The first time an individual speaks a fact, they gain power relating to that fact. The more detailed and specific, the more power is gained. For example the fact "Gravity causes a downward acceleration of roughly 10 meters per second squared" would give you minimal influence over gravity, maybe allowing you to increase or decrease its strength very slightly. If you say "Gravity is an attractive force between masses governed by the equation F = G(m1*m2)/(r^2)" you would get far more influence. If you took it farther and began to discuss the quantum physics behind gravity, you get even greater power. This works for any objectively true statement, and the kind of power statements grants you varies wildly. The most interesting type of factual statements is quickly found to be ones referring to the type of power granted by different factual statements. This has the effect of making knowledge highly sought after in advanced levels, but also very difficult to obtain both because people are hesitant to grant power to others, but also because each individual may only gain power from a statement once, and all of that power is temporary, meaning people don't want to share facts because to do so they must say them. Therefore written language and sign language becomes the most common form of communication. The Tassels on Graduation Caps

Isn't there a thread on 17th Shard for rap battles? I don't see why they can't actually do this. And then we can vote on the winner

That's it. Where in the nowhere is the gravity coming from? Does anybody know? If you can answer that, here's some follow ups: How strong is it? How do intergalactic, interspecies societies cope with differences of gravity?

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

My teacher said if it is alive it is biotic, if it is dead it is abiotic. Meaning hair is abiotic since it is dead cells, but bacteria are not. So the question is do we consider the Stormfather/Spren to be alive. -

When in bio class we are discussing Biotic vs Abiotic factors in an ecosystem, and you begin contemplating whether or not the Stormfather (or spren in general) count as biotic or abiotic. If anybody has an answer to this, please let me know, because honestly I could argue either way. -

Nice. I first read The Way of Kings as part of a book project for school a few years ago, and we had to present a timeline of major events (using google slides), and my presentation was like 20 slides long while everyone else who didn't read epic fantasy had like 6 slides. -

Unless "in the recommended" is your way of saying "after I repeatedly recommend it," I am disappointed that you allowed your teacher to have to find it on their own. -
Did you mean to say "Please remain seated, and keep your Stormlight spoilers inside the spoiler box at all times, and enjoy your ride"?

In fairness, societal instability can't exist if there is no society.

I gonna start by saying that I didn't read the entire thread, but I do agree that an oath along the lines of "I will kill to protect" makes sense, especially given that if I remember correctly this was a question Kaladin pondered when his father talked about how there are two types of people, those who kill and those who protect (or something along those lines), and Kaladin asks what if you kill to protect. It just feels like it would be a complete circle. I did though skim some of the rest of this thread, and some of the other theorized 5th oaths look equally supportable.

Light, not detailed, OB Spoilers (really not much of a spoiler at all, and nothing to do with overall plot, but I am putting it in a spoiler tag anyway) -
This is definitely one of the best things on this thread, and there are a lot of great things on this thread.

Can we just have somebody photo edit Bernie Sanders with his mittens on to every cover? I'm not skilled enough in photoshop to do it, but somebody definitely should.

I feel like some people ought to be mildly concerned over the amount of time they spend on this site... (although I think there are far more people who should be concerned time spent on social media as a whole I guess, at least the people on here can read more than a page of text without becoming bored or distracted).
