I think that there are places where time travel can prove useful, even if you can't change the past. I do need some element of time travel to wrap up Nogard's arc, probably, unless we completely avoid any more time jumps. Nekorb could be changed to foresight, but the whole point of him having intense spiritual damage was because he time traveled, so I would have to come up for a different reason for that. If it is allowed (and it looks like it won't) it would have to be pretty much banned anyways, for the points above.

main plot The Metamorphosis: Rise of Villainry

Nekorb suffered intense Spiritual damage that caused some of the plot points in his arc to develop. I understand. Sometimes I have difficulty suspending disbelief as well, especially on some of the weirder parts. This can probably be avoided in most cases. I personally go with random jitter in extended chronological dimensions and spontaneous creation as fits the circumstances to explain this specific paradox. Because he physically can't. These restrictions are meant to be physical laws, after all. It opens up more potential ideas, which is always a good thing if it doesn't create problems. For instance, time travel featured in a useful manner (storytelling-wise) in the cases of both Nogard and Nekorb. In this case, you have expressed concern, and so I am trying to iron out the wrinkles of this particular idea. I think that there should be limits on time travel for sure. I don't think that it should be used in any excessive manner. But I do think that it is a plot device that could, potentially, be useful.- 571 replies

main plot The Metamorphosis: Rise of Villainry

The part where they, physically, go back in time. Nekorb traveled from the future to prevent something bad happening. The other could depend on whether or not we have more time jumps moving forwards; he returns home at the end of his arc, and he's already been away for twelve years. I'm reluctant to add another large chunk of time from any more time jumps to that, so time travel. I mean, I've read about it in books before and it's never been a problem. The idea behind it is to coordinate it with the posts in the thread. So you can't change what has already been posted, but you can make a character that at some point in the theoretical future traveled back in time to say, prevent a catastrophe. Because that causes the timeline to be changed, you can't get any paradoxes.- 571 replies

main plot The Metamorphosis: Rise of Villainry

It's not, actually, because of the NOW clock. That defines a specific moment in time, constantly moving forwards, that separates past from future. It's much more difficult to travel from the future, and you usually lose all or most of your memories, but you can change things. Sure you can. It's a bit confusing, but it's possible. Yes, the cause came from nowhere. Is that really a problem?- 571 replies

The way I have it working, there's only one timeline, so it can't split. If you've gone back in time, you've gone back in time. I don't really understand what you're trying to say here. Could you explain in more detail?- 571 replies

This is what's known as a causal loop. While it may seem strange, it's perfectly self-consistent. It doesn't really bother me, personally. If it really bothers you, though, we can deny them whenever someone suggests one.- 571 replies

I frowned. "The shard of Justice, at least in terms of what Solace was referring to, is definitely a shard of Adonalsium. Are you talking about the alleyshards? I don't think that he was trying to say what you thought he was trying to say."

The front of the alleystorm washed through the alleycity. It would arrive in only a few minutes.

"Not only is it too much, it fundamentally messes what happens up, especially if he really did get the other shards."

The dark skinned strange stepped onto the shore in a secluded inlet. He took a knee and felt the ground, sending out a mental pulse. Are you ready? The island responded. Yes. @Ookla the Ring, @Ookla the Paragon, @Ookla the Libre, @Ookla the Grizzled

"Of course. Any interference they have will change history radically anyways."

"Time travel cannot change the past. The past is what is written in the thread." I gestured towards it. "If you want your character to travel from the future, then they can change history."

Nogard fired a few more bursts of fire while he ran down the shore. Suddenly he felt the supply of Investiture from Kodeka cut out. He called out the the island mentally. Sorry. Kodeka sounded strained. Couldn't get past the birds. Going to get out of the way. Nogard sighed. Luckily, a few of the other people on the island had taken it upon themselves to defend against the threat. Nogard couldn't help but admire their bravery; although the birds wouldn't be able to suck out their souls like they would an island, they still had claws. And there were a lot of them. As he watched the battle, he felt something... off. It took him a moment to figure out what it was. Why aren't they going for the gemheart? That's what they're here for. He snatched a fruit from one of the trees and munched on it, slowing to a jog and trying to figure it out. Suddenly, a shape burst out of the jungle towards the bird. It looked like some sort of lion, to Nogard.

Nekorb nodded and headed towards the door.
