  1. Neil froze. "I, uh, need... um." He tried again. "I mean, I..." He trailed off nervously. His seon sighed. "I apologize for my companion. He has trouble talking to strangers." He flashed twice, then went on. "What he is trying to say is that he wants to join TUBA." He floated a bit closer to the woman. "This is a TUBA building, correct?" @AonEne
  2. "I'm Draug," said Draug through a mouthful of cake. "I'm new here."
  3. Yup, here. Likely not going to be the most active, but here. ----- Rogiv started to draw a box on the ground. Four lines of forbiddance, drawn in red chalk. Many people scoffed at his use of colored chalk, but he didn't care. Every battle he'd used the chalk in, he'd succeeded. He didn't care what others thought. He'd drawn one of the new lines multiple times in the space surrounding the box. Each one sucked in some of the sound that reached it. With a combination of enough... He smiled, and stepped into the box, closing off the final side. At last, peace.
  4. Draug chuckled. "I've had cake before- not a lot, but some. Just never for breakfast."

  6. Nekorb sighed. "I don't know. I haven't been there in over a year... Alask and Laonin came to visit once or twice, but I didn't have a whole lot of contact with the outside world."

  8. It has a field for email, so maybe. What I'm really interested in is if I go the other way; email a post to the site and have it post to the thread.
  9. The ship reentered the section of the tunnels with walls, and the giant eye fell out of sight. He turned away from the railing, feeling a sense of... Regret? Longing? Whatever. It didn't really matter, anyways. The squid had made him feel better, for some indescribable reason. Maybe it was just knowing someone was taking care of them in this tunnel. But now that he wasn't clutching the railing in terror, he could start talking to his fellow passengers. I'll start with Shooter Dude, he thought. He turned towards Red, smiling. "Hello. My name's Reylf. What's yours?" @I think I am here.
  10. Draug smiled. "Sure, why not. First time for everything, right?"
  11. At that moment, Draug came downstairs. "Hey," he said. "Is it, uh, too late for breakfast?" His stomach rumbled softly.
  12. Nekorb grimaced. "I've been in the hospital. It took a while for my injuries to heal, even considering..." He trailed off, and shuddered. @Sorana
  13. Does this website have the same emailing capability as the 17th shard website? That is, will it email me if someone responds to my post?
  14. The woman continued. "You owe me a debt, even if you seem to have forgotten it. I intend to see that debt repaid." She paused for a moment, then went on. "Three thousand years is a long time, Tamika. Enough for a hundred lifetimes, or more. More than anyone should live. "Rebirth is not in the slightest a pleasant process. Death is painful; your soul is being ripped from your body. But the worst part is what happens after. "You can feel yourself trying to transition between realms, but you can't- you're stuck. The force pulls at your soul, trying to tear you apart into nothingness, but you cannot give. Instead, you wait, trapped in that state of agony for what seems like eternity. "And then, at last, you are reborn." Samika paused, catching her breath.
  15. ...so moving investiture is influenced less by thoughts? So they are essential for crystal formation; that makes sense. But why would they interfere in Natural Magic for places not on the ley nodes? I agree with a good bit of this, but I don't think we really need a classification system. A backed up ley line causes a rapid increase in the amount of free Natural magic in the area, which then spills out and forms a ley node; that's probably as far as we need to go. It wouldn't really explode outwards; that would probably make it less effective, in fact, as it would be moving and therefore less influenced by thoughts. The thoughts and beliefs of people in the area will be much more powerful than usual, but probably not so powerful as to mess up reality too far, even if a major ley line was the one being disrupted. It would likely take two fairly large ley lines crashing into each other to cause even close to that effect. They could probably exert significant conscious control over the landscape, however, so destruction of a civilization would be perfectly feasible. So Natural magic should not be different on a ley line vs off a ley line. So is it flowing "downhill", so to speak? Path of Least Resistance implies there's some force keeping it moving.
  16. Draug woke up with sunlight streaming through the window. He rolled over in bed to check the time on the digital clock on the bed stand. To his surprise and shock, it was already eleven thirty. He'd slept in quite a bit, it seemed. Even stranger, he actually felt refreshed. That had never happened on the streets. The Dream Walker was always ready to attack a lone Radiant through nighttime visions. He couldn't remember a single night for the past year where his dreams hadn't been corrupted by her sinister touch. He'd wake up almost as exhausted as he was when he fell asleep. Stormlight would help with that, of course, and sometimes even provided a sort of substitute for sleeping when he couldn't face the thought of another mental battle. Even worse were the days when the Unmade stayed with him even when awake. Often times when that happened he came close to giving up and just letting the cursed spren take his memories. Voidbringers never hunted down former Radiants. Life was hard enough on the streets as it was, especially with the red-eyes so close on his tail. Without having to worry about them, life would be much easier. For starters, he could sell his gemstones; that would probably get him enough to at least get started in life. Without Voidbringers he could stay in one place for longer than a week. They might even help him out; they loved it when Radiants gave up. They liked it even more than killing one, in fact, as a Radiant giving up would kill the spren, too. If they were lucky, they would even get the Shards before another Radiant snatched them up. Each time, they came a little bit closer to their goal. In the end, that was why he wouldn't give up. Why he couldn't give up. He'd tried to protect his siblings, and he'd failed. Now he had a chance to protect the whole world. He could not fail again. And today, that meant killing some more Voidbringers. He got out of bed and went downstairs, ready for whatever the day would bring.
  17. Nekorb sighed. "Very well."
  18. "It's not a spren, is it?" Nekorb seemed confused. "You implied earlier that it wasn't, but then you said it was..." He shook his head again. "I'm perplexed, Alask."
  19. "A spren?" Nekorb frowned. "What sort of spren...?" He shook his head. "Does this have anything to do with what happened to you a year ago? With the fight, after Alleyzon?"
  20. Nekorb looked at Alask, confused. "What are you talking about?"
  21. Okay. That's what I thought, but then the whole battlefield would have vanished to him as well, so... The figure heard the words of thought spoken by the Vanished One. It smiled. Truth this one had found. Fools the Narrators were, to make themselves characters in their own story. For how could a story be if the character could just will away the conflict? For that, come it had. Lied they had, to themselves. Unlike itself, no limitations they faced. It came to make them face truth. Only by accepting limitations could this story ever blossom. The stone giant approached. With it, the one on the strange horse-beast. He reached out another hand, ready to do as done before he had. @Ghanderflaffle Antonio took a closer look at the giant as the creature approached it. With a start, he recognized it. What was Xinoehp doing here? None of this made any sense in any way. But the one thing he did know was that he needed the bag Rekaerb was holding. So he began running over to where he stood, miming supplications in case he decided to turn his way and listen.
