    The handerfle barked out something in its guttural language. Unintelligible, but the tone was unmistakably frantic. Tom's eyes widened almost imperceptibly as the handerfle spoke. "Oh, dear..." he whispered. He turned back to Tamika and AJ. "I apologize, but something has come up that requires my immediate attention. If you need anything, just say it aloud- the ship should be able to take care of it." With that, he turned and rushed back the way they had come.

    "Hello?" The voice became clearer as Nekorb walked through an archway into the cavern proper.

    It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, bees were buzzing, the whole shebang. The dew on the trees reflected the early morning sunlight, making hundreds of little bright dots throughout the woods and providing a constant source of annoyance to small woodland animals. Down here in HOWL HQ, of course, it was just like every other day. Bland, white walls, climate-controlled temperature, no noise except for the distant tap-tap-tap of keyboards. If not for the security cameras, nothing would indicate that today was any different from every other day of the year. Abigail sighed and forced her eyes away from the camera feeds. Focus, she told herself sternly, staring determinedly at the screen in front of her. These bugs weren’t going to fix themselves, after all. Now… where was I? Ah, yes… Her fingers clicked on the keys as she modified and executed the code, looking for the error that had been causing problems these last couple of days. After a few minutes typing, she leaned back, thinking hard. She’d checked there… and there… and there… pretty much everywhere, in fact. But still no sign of what was causing the bug. Had she missed something, perhaps? As she thought, her eyes wandered, pulled irresistibly back to the picturesque scenes on the screens. She sighed. It was no use.The one day in months not drenched with a gray drizzle, and she had to spend it inside. I bet Flit’s outside, she thought glumly. Lucky Flit. And then, suddenly - as if the thought had called her - Flit appeared on one of the screens.
