Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers
xinoehp512 replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I definitely did not feel caught when Illwei posted that. Literally my first thought was "well that's wrong". Certainly Illwei is correct that early on inactivity was my play as an elim, but I'll be the first to admit my playstyle has changed several times. Basically every time I take a break my playstyle evolves.- 788 replies

Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers
xinoehp512 replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Huh. You know what, that's... a really good question. I guess I didn't really take it seriously, because Illwei didn't vote me? Which is kind of silly I guess given that Mat used Illwei's analysis as a reason to vote me. A likely reason those posts seemed different is because I did them on mobile and mobile is way harder to write posts on. Ditto for last game, where my playstyle was closer to my early posts in the cycle.- 788 replies

Long Game 90: Undiluted Powers

It was just self pres at first. Once Shining unvoted, though, it would have made no difference to switch, so I looked at the options. I v!read you and Kas, Book and Silver are both new, and TUN often dies early.- 788 replies

Anikel turned his horse around and headed back into the forest. He tossed Terikor one of the divining rods. "Try to stay close," he warned. "Shout if you see anything."

"Yerik, acolyte of the Order of-" "Uh... hey!" interjected Yerik. Anikel considered Quendi dubiously for a moment. "Well... alright, then," he replied. "But if you get killed, don't blame me." Personally, he was curious to see what she had in the way of magical ability- so far it hadn't come up.

Terakor gasped. "What are you doing?" Yerik prodded the net curiously. "Well, if you happen to pass through Orteos, that's where we're headquartered. You can ask if you can have a piece of skystone there."

Anikel grunted. "Depends on where it is. If it's on the surface, not long at all. If it's under a tree..." The stranger seemed disappointed, but continued anyways. "We're the Order of the Fallen Star. I'm afraid I don't think I'm authorized to just give this away..." He paused. "Where were you headed, again?" Yerik laughed gleefully as he jumped through the forest. Stars, this was fun.

"That was a disaster is what it was," growled Anikel. Terakor blinked, shocked by the man's ferocity. "Why? Nobody got hurt." "We need that metal," Anikel replied. "We don't have time to deal with a spark-cursed forest guardian." He sighed. "But it looks like we don't have a choice." @Channelknight Fadran Yerik stopped, leaning against a tree, gazing glumly at the trail. It was looking less and less trail-like by the moment. It wouldn't be long before it was gone entirely. This isn't working, he thought to himself, rubbing his aching legs. He needed to try something different. Cautiously, he pushed off the ground, rising into the air, then dropped. As he landed, he projected his shield, landing without making a sound- and without crashing. Feeling more confident, he practiced again from a higher altitude, then again a couple more times to reassure himself. Then he launched himself up over the top of the trees.

"We're not asking for money," the man began, then hesitated. "Well. Money would be nice. But what we really need is your help. Manpower, so to speak." The stranger jumped back slightly, scanning the trees above but noticing nothing. Nervously he activated his shield, an invisible barrier around him, and continued to walk. This path had to lead somewhere, right?

"Not a- what, this isn't enough proof for you?" The man pushed off the wall, floating in midair. "Hmm. Well..." He reached into a pocket, pulling out a twin to the amulet he wore around his neck. "Here. You're a Starmage, right? You should be able to feel something in here. Enough to convince you it's not a scam, at least, even if you don't bond to it right away."

The man held up his stone on the chain. "This. It's a piece of a fallen star- a meteorite. It's what gives me the power." He looked directly at Lyras. "We have extras. If you're interested."

The man pulled something out of his robe. Some sort of stone, black in color, on a silver chain. He appeared to be explaining something, still unaware that no sound was coming out of his mouth.

"Like this," replied the stranger, jumping onto the wall of the alley. He stood there, parallel to the ground, as though it was normal to walk on walls. He began to talk, but - seemingly unbeknownst to him - no sound came out. @The Bookwyrm The stranger continued to trudge through the woods, hoping that he would find someone. Terakor shot a glance back as the three rode off, letting out a sigh of relief. "That was close," he replied.
