  1. The 7 chapters on his website are fair game though, right? That's what I was referring to. Sometimes I forget that people have actually read the whole thing.
  2. There's a section for discussing Brandon's unpublished works: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/forum/79-unpublished-works/ Note that only the publicly available chapters (found on his website) are allowed to be discussed - not the whole book.
  3. Good game guys. Sorry for the confusing clues - it was a really hard board. In for next game, but not as spymaster.
  4. Unfortunately, Preservation is an Innocent Bystander, so our turn is over. @Jondesu The red team is up.
  5. I know that that's where the lines are shown to come from, but if that were the case everyone would be getting flipped over all the time, because the offset force would generate a rotation.
  6. Brandon has done a pretty good job of grounding his work into legitimate (albeit slightly modified) physics. I doubt he'd be interested in introducing pseudoscience into the Cosmere.
  7. You used to be able to downvote posts. That feature is no longer available.
  8. I would say it's the case most of the time, but maybe not always. There are a couple of scenes where this doesn't hold up from a physics perspective (Zane rotating is the main one), but it's hard to say if it was intentional (implying advanced Allomantic techniques) or just an oversight on Brandon's part. See this thread:
  9. Kelsier plays a role in a number of stories, most of which are found in Arcanum Unbounded (a collection of Cosmere short stories and novellas).
  10. The blue team's clue is: Ash 2 @Herowannabe @Cadmium Compounder @recneps Link to gameboard
  11. We're playing with the "Eightball" variant. That means that, in addition to finding all your team's agents (which you've already done), you also have to find the Assassin in order to win.
  12. Couldn't they just make separate medallions and glue them together?
  13. Wow. That's so much better. Jealous of the Brits.
  14. Yes, that's correct. You have one guess remaining this round.
  15. It's not just the separation of the arcs from a story perspective, you also have to consider the real-life time separation. Brandon has a bunch of books slated in between the arcs that have gotten put on hold due to his commitment to finishing Arc 1, so there is almost certainly going to be a large time gap between the releases of Books 5 and 6. Ending Arc 1 on a down note or a cliffhanger, and then waiting 5-10 years to release the next books would be a big mistake.
  16. I don't think that we have any indication that this is the case.
  17. Oathbringer spoilers (even ones in spoiler boxes) are not allowed in this forum. They must be placed in the special Oathbringer Spoiler Board.
  18. As far as I can remember, the only magic swords all have their roots in Honor. Tanavast made the Honorblades, which were then replicated by the spren in Shardblades, which were then replicated (with weird results) by Vasher with Nightblood. Also, [OB] spoilers:
  19. Siri is a blue agent, but unfortunately Duladel is a red agent. @Jondesu It's the red teams turn again.
  20. I doubt that Brandon would make Kelsier a bad guy. I know that he's talked at length about how close Kelsier is to being a villain in most stories, and it could make sense from a purely character perspective. However, Kelsier is one of, if not the, most popular character in all of Brandon's books. Turning him into a villain would royally piss off a whole lot of fans, and so would not be great from a sales perspective. It's like why almost all books/movies end on a happy note - that's what readers/viewers want.
  21. But if they are "spren metal," like a Shardblade, how are they damaged in the first place? Are sure that *all* "spren metal" is indestructible? I mean, obviously Shardblades are, but they're made from sapient spren, the highest level of spren, and are the result of a strong bond between spren and Radiant. If you have a weaker bond, and a weaker spren, why would it be as strong? Damage to Plate could be the equivalent of splintering off some of the spren's Investiture, and regrowing the Plate would require an infusion of Investiture to be made whole again. Plus, we've no indication that the other godmetals we've seen (the Scadrian ones) are indestructible.
  22. Autonomy has created "avatars." We don't understand too much about them, but it goes something like this. All of the Investiture throughout the entire Cosmere is assigned to one of the Shards. However, the mind of the Vessel (despite being vastly expanded) is not infinite, and so they are not aware of all of "their" Investiture. What Autonomy seems to be doing is somehow "learning" about the existence of "her" Investiture in different places throughout the Cosmere and is using it to create avatars. Quote from the first WoB:
  23. Spren are sentient Investiture, right? If they've been damaged, it makes sense that you'd feed them more Investiture to heal them. @Pagerunner pointed out above how the Lightspren react to the Investiture of the Highstorm - they seem to "feed" off it, per Azure.
  24. I would guess that Odium will be dealt with in the Stormlight Archive, which would mean that a new big bad is needed for the overarching Cosmere story (culminating with Mistborn 4). My money's on Autonomy, as she's been increasing her power (via exploration of unknown Investiture) and creating numerous Avatars (Patji, etc.). P.s. If you want to discuss Oathbringer spoilers, you need to put [OB] in the title.
  25. Nightblood is one of the most heavily invested objects in the entire Cosmere. Any invested object (but especially Nightblood) will strongly resist being affected by the various magic systems. Nightblood could be considered a spren, kind of. Anything about the specifics of Nightblood's creation is basically RAFO.
