  1. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. In the one example we have of this, my tying Lum to Fura(the player who risked being lynched) did not draw any suspicion away from Lum; if anything the link made her seem more suspicious. I feel like your claim is only true if the player at risk of dying actually dies and is revealed to be a villager. I tend to feel that this advantage outweighs any disadvantage of not knowing the alignment of the lynchee until the next day turn. If we had kill roles, or protects, or any sort of night scan that could indicate guilt, it might be useful to learn whether or not we should be searching for elim teammates among those linked to the dead player and whether we have any soft-cleared villagers, but since we don't have any such abilities, we don't lose too much from not receiving immediate feedback. Anecdotal evidence suggests that we get more discussion when the lynchee survives, though it is yet to be seen whether this trend continues.
  2. I'll sign up as Somne, a poltergeist with absolutely no regard for human life. Not being able to communicate with your teammates except in coded messages will make this game extremely difficult for pinch hitters unless they can view their team's D0 doc. Will we have access to all 30 anonymous accounts? Will stranded players be allowed to vote/talk in thread? Presumably, there's some reason a player can't stay permanently stranded so as to avoid dying.
  3. The elims know that there are (number they sent out + 1) of each medallion.
  4. This is probably not something we want people to claim until D3, in case the elims want to get rid of medallions. What we really want is the results of the gold scan, which appears to show the quantity of each type of medallion. From that, we could determine approximately how likely it is for a player to have received three medallions. As the elims know exactly how many of each medallion there are, the lack of gold results indicates that the original holder(s) of the gold medallion are inactive or evil. If the current holder(s) are neither, we should at least get that information by D3.
  5. We are not revealing the metals we have this cycle; just the metals we had last cycle. You claimed two medallions last cycle, so you must have had something other than aluminium. Last cycle, I had iron and cadmium. A possible exception to not claiming our current metals is confirming Roadwalker, who claims that FatherTiempo, shane, and Fura currently have bendalloy. This is probably not a great idea, but shane getting bendalloy two cycles in a row feels odd even though I know the odds aren't that bad. When I have more time, I'll consider Lum's purposeful false claim. There was no particular reason to believe any of the original six was lying, but the only thing lying gains for an elim is to divert the tin scan away at the cost of quite possibly being lynched.
  6. @Cadmium Compounder, I mentioned you as an example because as the only person who at the time had claimed two specific medallions, chances were fairly reasonable that you had been passed a medallion by the elims and I could name a particular metal as an example, although it now seems more likely if anything, it was the aluminium medallion you were given. My list of the seven players was supposed to be in order, but I apparently got confused by Elandera double-claiming and put her in the completely wrong spot. I can no longer remember why I mentioned you when there were only four claimants. In the end, I voted for you because I didn't really want there to be a tied vote that could end up being manipulated(though that didn't end up happening), and I supported Fura mainly for their 'claim C2 what medallion you had C1' plan.
  7. Can you point out the specific places you're thinking of? From what I can see, I: questioned your assumption that the elims could choose who received which medallions, disagreed as to how pewter medallions worked, believed you were less likely than others to have been lying about having aluminium, and agreed that tin should scan aluminium. On that note, we (hopefully) have a tin scan by now, and the current owner of the tin medallion can claim D2 and say who was lying. Starting the game with a medallion doesn't make one any less likely to receive the medallion in the future, so any pewter medallions the elims decided to create would be more likely sent to an elim. You are probably right that the elims would want to have as little pewter in the game as possible, although I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say I specifically should have known this. As Elandera explained, the Fura-Lumgol link was because she voted for two different counter-lynches, switching to CadCom when it was clear Elandera wouldn't be lynched.
  8. Redistributing items among everyone who voted for that person, as well as ensuring that the revolver cannot leave the game through death of it's owner(it's always the one item that isn't destroyed) would solve the revolver issue. Even if the killer ended up with the revolver, the village could recover it by lynching the killer. The mirror victory seems like the type of mechanic to use if the game stalls due to lack of kills, rather than the village's best chance to win. It's also boring to have all the villagers stand outside and take the same action every cycle. Perhaps the village could auto-win if they survive until cycle X, probably 8-10? If the game is expected to go on that long with 48 hour cycles, then this is an MR despite its low number of players. If you want insanity to be a serious threat instead of a long term inactivity filter, enough that someone might be tempted to eat or drink, eliminating the sanity bonus for sleep and actions should be sufficient. Every cycle, each villager gains 20% insanity, or 15% if they vote, and will die by the end of the seventh cycle unless they eat/drink/read.
  9. CadCom(5): Elandera, Lumgol, Fura, Steel, Devotary Fura(4): Fifth, Eternum, Roadwalker, CadComShanerockes(1): FatherTiempo Borrowing Elandera's vote count, we now have an exciting tie going into the last minutes of the cycle. Presumably, there's some vote manipulation that can alter the results of this lynch, and it's entirely possible that if either of the two main candidates are evil, they will survive with pewter. While I sort of want to check out a potential Fura-Lumgol link, I do feel that CadCom is more suspicious, and the main thing preventing my vote has been that CadCom died C1 in the most recent game. Since we don't lose anything from delaying the lynchee's death with bendalloy, I would agree that we might as well use that medallion.
  10. An elim!Lumgol false-claiming aluminium would know perfectly well that she was running into a tin scan which could out her. As such, I don't think this is a likely move unless the elims know for sure that the village doesn't have tin(by virtue of randomly receiving the tin medallion). This of course doesn't mean we couldn't have elim!Lumgol truthfully claiming aluminium. Aside from the claims, Lumgol's voting patterns are a bit odd, almost as if she wants to vote for anyone except Fura. If Fura is evil I would look to Lumgol next, especially if no tin scan results materialise(although chances are that if an elim received tin, they'll scan aluminium anyway and be able to make up false results). You were the second player to claim aluminium, right after Kidpen clarified that the elims can chose which medallions players receive. The idea behind claiming weak medallions like aluminium is that there's a decent chance you were given that medallion by an elim, especially now that we know how many such medallions were created, and there's no particular reason for an elim to give themselves aluminium. At the time, with only two claimants, it wasn't worthwhile for a tin user to scan for aluminium. To quote posts from a different page without losing your own post, ctrl+C what you have and use the + in the bottom left corner of the post you want to quote in order to grab it. Refresh your Shard window, paste in your in-progress post, and you should be able to press the 'Quote 1 post' button on the bottom right of your screen. @Furamirionind, if you're still there, can you address what you said about hypothetical elim!Fura's medallion distribution? How would you have passed out medallions if you were evil?
  11. It was originally Fifth who said(I've already quoted this, so won't do so again) Which I took to mean "C2, the villagers should claim what they have because by C2 the medallions will be more proportionally distributed between village and elim'. Fura was the one to publicly interpret Fifth's statement as "C2, the villagers should claim what they had on C1", which I believe makes far more sense than my interpretation, and was quite possibly what Fifth actually meant. Presumably, the idea behind lynching an aluminium claimer C2 is that it gives the potential village owner of the tin medallion time to check which of the claimants is lying. We can speculate which one is lying this cycle, I suspect it's one of the middle claimers, but we can't be entirely sure without a scan. Unfortunately, I don't see why the elims would have given a tin medallion to a villager, so we'd have to hope the randomly distributed one went to a villager.
  12. So CadCom, Ark, Elandera, Steel, Xino, FatherTiempo, and Lumgol all claim to have an aluminium medallion. Since there are a maximum of six aluminium medallions in the game, at least one of them is lying. Would any of you like to change your claim? If not, it might well be worth it for a villager with a tin medallion to determine who is lying.
  13. I'll have more detailed observations with a reread, but with the first skim-through it appears the only way for the village to kill the killer is with the revolver. If Philip Lombard is the killer, or if any player with the revolver is lynched before being able to kill someone, the village cannot win except for the mirror victory. However, I'm not sure the killer can actually stop a mirror victory. To accomplish a mirror victory, all nine villagers grab a mirror D1 or D2 depending on which room they start out in, move outside as quickly as possible, and then have everyone start spamming the mirror action D2/D3. There's no reason for an active player to eat or drink unless they plan to stay up at night, so those methods of murder are out. That leaves revolver if the killer is Philip, hypodermic needle if the killer is Dr. Armstrong, and rock for everyone else(unless the killer's traps can catch those who go to sleep at night, in which case anyone can kill). Regardless, the village can lynch the same player over and over again, and the killer won't be able to kill everyone else fast enough unless 'three actions per cycle' means 'the killer can attack three different people every night'. In that case, the village actually would need to kill/permalynch the killer in order to win. Please tell me if I missed any obvious details in this preliminary analysis.
  14. Yes, I was trying to come up with any possible reason someone would want to use an aluminium medallion and those were the only explanations I could come up with. Overall, I don't expect anyone to actually use an aluminium medallion The Electrum medallion's ability suggests that each medallion is reassigned separately, so that's not really useful either. Perhaps those with aluminium medallions have a greater than proportional chance of being villagers, but there are better uses for tin than that.
  15. I believe the idea of claiming this cycle is that the elims already know who was what medallions, except for the 16 randomly distributed ones. Next cycle, the elims will be almost as clueless as we are as to where all the medallions went. Claiming this cycle thus gives the elims the least amount of information, while informing us that the elims were quite willing to give the villagers medallions, albeit mostly useless ones. Still, we want to try avoiding claiming certain medallions that the elims likely would not have given to villagers. I would say gold, bronze, tin, and pewter medallions fall into this category, and possibly a few more such as chromium and duralumin. I myself have a cadmium medallion, which isn't particularly useful at this point since hammers are unlikely. With no kill roles, we don't lose that much by not having the lynch victim die until the end of the night, but I still don't really see a point in using this medallion. With CadCom, that makes at least four players with aluminium medallions. I can't really see the point of aluminium medallions; the only useful thing they appear to do is ensure that if one so happens to receive a pewter, copper, or duralumin medallion, it can't be detected by bronze.
  16. The question is whether the elims can say 'We want CadCom to have a medallion', in which case he would receive a random medallion, or 'We want CadCom to have a nicrosil medallion', which would guarantee that Cadcom got a nicrosil medallion. I'm fairly sure that pewter medallions work as Eternum describes, as opposed to a permanent extra life and the immediate destruction of all pewter medallions.
  17. @Furamirionind, both CadCom and FatherTiempo have claimed to have two medallions. I asked whether the elims get to choose which medallions players get because CadCom speculated that the elims would give their own members pewter medallions, and generally assumed that the elims had some say as to who ended up with particular types of medallion.
  18. We've had a couple players claim two medallions, so it's likely that the elims did indeed hand some out to start. Having read the rules a couple of times, I'm still not sure how the Southern Scadrian ability to pass out medallions works. Do they merely submit a list of players, who then receive medallions at random? Or do they get to specify which medallions each player receives? The latter seems significantly more powerful, but also makes claiming medallion roles more reasonable.
  19. The Southern Scadrians decide who starts out with medallions, but after that the medallions pass to random players every cycle. If a player with a medallion dies, the medallion(s) are removed from the game. Pyrhine shivered in the frosty wind as he appraised the Northern delegation. He had never seen so many unmasked faces. These foreigners lacked even the most rudimentary of covering needed to keep out the cold, Perhaps their Northern climate was sufficiently cold so as to make even the mountainous chill bearable. If so, he wouldn't want to venture any farther north than this. It had been treated as a great honour for a lowly Fallen to be chosen to accompany Ambassador Dallek in meeting the Northern barbarians, and Pyrhine was of course grateful for the opportunity to rise through the ranks of Fallen, but surely the meeting could have taken place someplace warmer, or at least the Malwish could have procured more brass medallions. If he had to stand out in this weather for too much longer, he would be useless as an observer.
  20. If a player with multiple factions is lynched by plurality, are all their factions revealed, or just the one whose win condition they share? A similar question applies to faction scans. Are all non-unique roles Independent Thinkers? Do Independent Thinkers win if they die before being converted? Are players aware if they are converted without a change in win condition? Does the Windrunner heal require an action? How are vote manipulations represented in the writeup? As always, an order of actions is required to answer questions like: Can Moash cancel a Soulcasting by stealing all the requisite items?
  21. And so we come to a grand total of 4 hours before rollover, with a grand total of no votes. The flip side of the suspicion on you are the factors supporting the innocence of other players. Roadwalker and Fifth leading the lynches on CadCom and Elandera respectively, Snipexe joining the Elandera lynch early, Shane for decoying onto Roadwalker, (which I believe could only be a lie if elim!Shane and some villager are both doctors), and Itiah for apparently doing some sort of action. I'm not particularly fond of that last reason, but Itiah and Fifth can't both be evil. Elim!Fifth's first vote on Elandera would make some sort of sense if there was really poor communication between the elim team that caused them to miscount votes, but I just don't see why Fifth would have led the lynch on his only surviving teammate C2, especially when he started out the cycle with a list of three different lynch suspects.
  22. I will sign up as Pyrhine, a Fallen seeking to gain prestige sufficient to wear a fancier mask.
  23. Shane claimed decoy in thread last cycle. If he's telling the truth, then the doctor protected either Shane or Roadwalker, with the latter making more sense. I don't think the doctor role protects from the lynch, but perhaps we should ask @Young Bard to clarify that.
  24. Fifth and Roadwalker have driven lynches on both dead elims. With the game likely ending this cycle or the next if both the elims and the Deepness submit kills, we don't have time to consider the slim possibility that one of them double-bussed their teammates. Instead we'll have to address the more likely suspects. As you are one of those main suspects, Walin.
