  1. Fabrials. Unkeyed metalminds. Strong tactical advantage, you can control instantaneous movement across the continent. He didn't say controlling shadesmar, he said controlling the oathgates. But having the ability to access shadesmar would be beneficial too, as we see the fused in shadesmar attempting to control space in OB. Quick generic thought: I don't think mraize has lifesense from breath, I think he has it from his aviar. That or it's giving him seeker powers, which I assume are kinda the same.
  2. It's not even, strictly speaking, necessary. The Lopen is perfectly fine.
  3. You're confusing 'year' and 'age'.
  4. Okay, if you want to ignore technicalities she's 21. The technicality in this case is how Listeners count their age, which is what makes her "14". It's like dog years.
  5. I think that is too early, that's probably part 2 story for adolin/shallan and I don't think venli is going to get out of there that fast.
  6. Venli is about as old as Kaladin, maybe a little older, in terms of biological age. She's younger in listener years (14), but that works out to ~22.4 human years (it's 10:16 ratio) and Kaladin is 21-22 ish in RoW. If Singers mature faster then that means the age disparity is fine, since she would be more mature than Kaladin (biologically). Just because Listeners count age differently doesn't mean she is actually 14 biologically or even in maturity by human standards.
  7. I wonder why the fused didn't harry bridge four all the way back to radiant territory. It's definitely a sitting duck target, a couple firebombs should make short work of it.
  8. Probably 30-40 thousand words based on absolutely nothing.
  9. The interesting thing this implies is that every single honorspren was bonded at the time of the recreance. Which makes me wonder, how did an honorspren society even exist if not a single one resided in shadesmar at the time? What does it mean for other spren/orders>
  10. I doubt Kaladin is going to be on the expedition. I don't think Dalinar, having just pulled him from frontline duty, is going to send him off on an expedition when he clearly sees the turmoil Kaladin is experiencing. He will want to keep him close. 10 days is two weeks in Roshar calendar, I don't think it's anything more than that.
  11. To be fair, I don't think they actually know she's from another planet. They just know she's from 'far'
  12. It seems a bit early to go back to urithiru, we're less than halfway through part 1. The general wanted Dalinar to go pick up people in Herdaz, I think they might be headed that direction iirc.
  13. I think this might be the shattered plains. The way it's fractured in a symmetrical pattern centered on the city indicates it was not natural.
  14. I think it's too rare and expensive to throw it away on disposable weapons on Roshar.
  15. The easy answer is probably just that they can lash their clothes (and gear) with them when they want to. It doesn't have to be one or the other, we know they can lash objects they touch or choose not to, so it shouldn't be different for clothing.
  16. The screaming has to do with the radiant bond, since non-radiants can't hear it. Fused can probably bind the blades and use them just fine. If you think about it, singers never had access to shardblades before, so the recreance effectively gives the voidbringers a way to arm themselves with weapons they never had access to before. The synopsis of RoW mentions an arms race, I originally thought that meant fabrial technology (and that's probably still a big part of it) but it could also be the race to find and hold more of the regular shardblades. We know there's a ton of missing shardblades too. There was some several hundred during the one flashback sequence of windrunners and stonewards abandoning their blades and we aren't even aware of a fraction of that many blades within Alethkar (and that was just two orders). I always felt that they are in Shinovar, there must have been a reason the Shin invaded towards the east multiple times.
  17. No, it's limited to the Rosharan sphere of influence. It's similar to how (secret history spoilers:) There's limited evidence in text, the above being the notable one, but Brandon has expanded on it a lot more in WOBs. He shies away from saying it's impossible, and that someone who prepared "properly" could do it, but that overwhelmingly it would be difficult for spren to leave roshar. Though you're right that she could have knowledge of the cosmere from rosharan shadesmar civilizations, and this is more likely (if this is what's she is keeping hidden). I'm excited for RoW to explore shadesmar cultures a bit more.
  18. I agree that it's either a trick or a result of their particular brand of insanity.
  19. The only thing against this is that radiants would find it harder to leave roshar because of their bond with the spren.
  20. We've had reading of the next two chapters (only the Kaladin portions) so we know what he's doing for that at least. If you go back and read about Moash's history you can probably figure out what he wants.
  21. It's going to be Kaladin and Venli, you can go ahead and quote me on that when it happens
  22. I am also fairly confident Shallan has her plate already and is just mentally blocking it (again). I think so because when Jasnah addresses 'Shallan' during the conflict in Thaylena, it's actually 'Radiant' who responds to her, and the Radiant illusion was previously described as wearing plate. So at some point off-screen, Real Shallan and Illusion Radiant swapped and when Jasnah arrives it's Illusion Shallan and Real Radiant. It could just be an illusion, but for some reason I don't think so. As for plate in Row; Kaladin for sure, he's really close to it, and Shallan will probably manifest hers 'properly'. We'll probably see Jasnah with it on-screen... I think Adolin barely misses spotting her with what I believe was her Shardplate at the end of OB, my theory was she'd just dismissed it moments ago when Adolin spots her with the outline of shapes fading away from around her. He assumed she soulcasted I think, but I'm pretty sure it's her armor. Well, even more telling than that is her comment to Shallan way earlier in the novel about not being a full radiant without her plate, obvious implication being that she knows where plate comes from. I don't think Dalinar or Szeth will get them. Szeth is going to get it in his book (book 5), also he supposedly has a smaller role in RoW. Venli won't have hers either. Teft is a possibility, but he probably wont just for narrative reasons; so that Kaladin can be the focus of this development/reveal. I think Malata will be revealed to have her plate, either from before or newly, and it will probably be a surprise development that she takes advantage of in some manner of betrayal or in furtherance of Diagram goals. Those are my guesses, at least.
  23. Yeah and we'd probably get all of dawnshard by November.
  24. The teleporting fused did not have spheres. He had to run off to his group (who were likely carrying spheres charged with voidlight) to recharge because he cannot carry anything with him when he teleports (that's why his hair is wrapped around him Bayoneta-style for clothing, and he uses a spike of his arm to stab Kaladin). They're otherwise just like radiants, they need their light from the (ever)storm, and they can store it in gems.
  25. I think Investiture isn't constantly consumed, it's a one-time cost for a lashing and it lasts a certain amount of time based on how much stormlight they pour into it and how many lashings they use. If it was constantly consumed then radiants wouldn't be able to make others fly because letting go would stop 'feeding' their lashings.
